View 14 Replies View Relatedmy boss has a vostro 1500 laptop and is constantly losing internet connection. Before losing connection, a little blue world shows up in front of the computer picture in the lower right hand corner and then says *limited access available*, then he can not connect at all. If he disconnects and then reconnects it works for a short period of time and then the cycle begins again. Recently, i was told it was a new router, so we replaced the old router and still having these issues,
View 13 Replies View RelatedI have a new Linksys 1500 router which I am using to replace an older WRT54GS. They are connected to a wired router (BEFSR81) to allow a wireless network to work in conjunction with my wired one. The WRT54GS ran as an access point. The 1500 does not seem to have that option. I have successfully been able to set up the new router and use it with laptops, ipads, etc. Where I’m running into problems is with my Squeezebox. Although I can see the network and enter a passcode into the Squeezebox, it never connects (the light on the Squeezebox is green (acquiring IP address from network). It never gets beyond this point. I have tried: Disabling securityChanging mode from mixed to various optionsDisabling firewallsNothing seems to work

1. Any device which is switched off (WiFi turned off) wont be able to connect again without a router reboot. I get a connection timeout error when trying to connect. Happens only when there are more than 3 devices connected. (all my devices are ARP linked to MAC addresses with fixed IP addresses - I thought this would eleminate the problem but not)
2. Streaming videos stop playing after 5 minutes. I have to click on the play button to start the stream again. When I test the internet speed through speedtest.net or speedtest.comcast.net, I get over 40MBPS consistently.
3. The router doesnt recogonize 3TB or above HDDs on either ports
4. As long as all devices connect to one channel (either 5G or 2.4G), the connectivity speed is excellent. The moment a device connects to the other channel, the connection speed fluctuates a lot on both.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhat router would you choose to setup 1500 dmvpn tunnels (mGRE/ipsec)? so this router will be my hub and the hub will have 1500 tunnels.this router with this many tunnels will have to be able to provide excellent service to all spokes/tunnels.the spokes will mainly use the tunnels for business, transfering small files and some email I would say they may transfer 500megabyte of data per day but that's the absolute maximum.
View 4 Replies View RelatedRecently I bought a new netgear router. It has two separate wireless signals. One is the main wireless connection for my computers. The other is a slower backup network for smartphones, apple tv, and guests. All of the other devices in the house can find both signals, but my main PC is only finding the backup network. It works fine for general browsing, but is very slow for downloads and unusable for gaming

View 1 Replies View RelatedI seem to be having an issue where certain very packets are being dropped/lost by my office router. The reproducible situation is, when I attempt a DNS zone transfer from my linux bind DNS server (A.A.A.A) to any server on my network behind NAT (Y.Y.Y.Y) the first packet (Seq 1) of the response is lost. The client making the query asks for first packet (Seq 1) to be resent, and the DNS server attempts to resend it repeatedly, but those are lost too.

View 4 Replies View RelatedA retailer (Best Buy's Geek Squad) made adjustments to my Linksys E3000 router when I bought a Sony Media Player from them a number of months ago. It was the first wireless device integrated into my wired LAN network (three computers).
In attempting to set up a GUEST connection, I pulled up Cisco Connect which I originally used to set up my network. The BB Geek didn't use a key and followed a different procedure unknown to me.
As I face the Cisco Connect screen now, it tells me "Can't access your router settings. The router password has been changed." Then in the "Router password" block, it gives the original password I assigned.
I had written another name I thought was associated with the changes made by the BB Geek so I copied the password there now, inserted the new PW, and clicked Next. I was then asked if I wanted to proceed with the change ... but the change it was proposing was the exact PW I just copied. Confused, I cancelled the operation.
I recently upgraded the OS on my laptop to Windows 7, which wiped out most of my older Vista settings. When I try to connect to my home network, I am prompted for a security key (network key?). How do I find the security key? I can't find any of the paperwork that came with my router.
By the way, I am currently using my desktop, running under Windows XP.
My wife has a laptop that we want hooked up to the internet through our linksys wireless router. But I cannot remember my security key or passphrase needed to get her on the connection. How do I recover, or find, it?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have the WRT160N router for 3.5 yrs and it's worked perfectly since installing it. About two weeks ago it began intermittently dropping cable connection. First few times I thought I could resolve it by unplugging/plugging router & modem so they can "re-syn" to the cable connection. That still works but now it occurs sometimes multiple times within a few minutes/hours and then won't happen again for an entire day/days. The other day I had connectivity but instead of the usual 5 bars I only had 3 while using my laptop in the same spot in the house as usual.
View 5 Replies View RelatedCurrently my Version 2. linksys wireeless router wouldn't reset it's IP and will NOT connect to the IP listed in my ipconfig,
I'm paranoid that it's something I've downloaded... even though that I'm always careful not to get anything off mistrustful websites! As soon as I download Kill Bill for my gf everything just goes straight to.... ! Would a file even be able to dis-able a router wireless capability? None. of my computers are infected but this is still seriously questionable.
I press this **bleep** button daily for 30 seconds and nothing is reset. My default gateway will not connect and the IP from webpages that show users their IP fail
I'm not sure if I should update the firmware because even if I could my ip.... doesn't persist

The laptop originally came with Windows Vista Basic edition. I have tried installing the driver for Windows XP from the original drivers CD that came with the laptop and also by downloading it from Dell's Web site. The driver program installs without giving an error, but after installation the device remains nonfunctional and the Device Manager shows no information about the wireless hardware.

View 3 Replies View Relatedgot an old Dell Vostro 1500.
(BTW, I saw in the specs of the 1500 that it has Dual Core proccessor, but his is Centerino. How come?)
I formated his computer due to slow-speed among other problems, and did clean install of Win XP Pro.
Now I d/led all the drivers from Dell's site regarding the Vostro 1500, and installed them.
My problem is: Windows doesn't recognize a wireless adapter on the laptop.
Network Connections has only 1394 and LAN options.
In the 'Device Manager' I've got a question mark on "Network Controller" and on "SM channel".
I've tried to manually install Dell Wireless driver - no success.
Tried to set the laptop to ignore the Wireless switch through the BIOS - still havn't got any sign of Wireless adapter in Windows.
BTW - in the BIOS menu - I see "Dell Wireless" under "Wireless" property.
I recently upgraded my Wi-Fi router to an EA3500 and am controlling it using Smart Wi-Fi running on a wired Windows 7 machine. So far, I have been able to add devices to the network without issue and each of those connections works fine. All, except my TV, have been Windows 7 based machines. Smart Wi-Fi Device List has been able to "see" each device and I have been able to add them to that list as well.
I am attempting to add a Windows 8 desktop computer to the network which is using a external USB wireless adapter. That computer can see and connect to the network through the EA3500 and the connection seems to work fine. The only issue is that its adapter does not show up in the Device List.
1) Does the Device List do anything else besides showing a list of devices I chosen to add to my network?
2) How do I get my Windows 8 wireless adapter to show up in the Device List?
The laptop identifies the Verizon-890L-B9CE as a wireless network, but will not connect. I don't know how to upgrade drivers without connecting to the internet.
