View 1 Replies View RelatedI am unable to install the driver for my wireless device on my Dell Vostro 1500 laptop running Windows XP Professional. The laptop originally came with Windows Vista Basic edition. I have tried installing the driver for Windows XP from the original drivers CD that came with the laptop and also by downloading it from Dell's Web site. The driver program installs without giving an error, but after installation the device remains nonfunctional and the Device Manager shows no information about the wireless hardware.
My system spec's are as follows:
- Model: Dell Vostro 1500
- Operating System : Windows XP Professional
- Processor : Intel Core 2 Duo 2.2GHz
- Main memory: 2 GB
- Video card : Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family
got an old Dell Vostro 1500.
(BTW, I saw in the specs of the 1500 that it has Dual Core proccessor, but his is Centerino. How come?)
I formated his computer due to slow-speed among other problems, and did clean install of Win XP Pro.
Now I d/led all the drivers from Dell's site regarding the Vostro 1500, and installed them.
My problem is: Windows doesn't recognize a wireless adapter on the laptop.
Network Connections has only 1394 and LAN options.
In the 'Device Manager' I've got a question mark on "Network Controller" and on "SM channel".
I've tried to manually install Dell Wireless driver - no success.
Tried to set the laptop to ignore the Wireless switch through the BIOS - still havn't got any sign of Wireless adapter in Windows.
BTW - in the BIOS menu - I see "Dell Wireless" under "Wireless" property.
I have a Dell vostro 1500 and want to connect to a wireless network or WiFi roaming what is a recommended usb adapter?

I don't have any clue. I've checked my modem which is working fine since I'm able to connect to internet through an another laptop. My laptop model is DELL Vostro 1500.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Vostro 1500 and I have AT&T wireless internet in my house. My other computers and Roku connect with no problem, but mine even though it says it is connected, is not connected. I have Windows XP the other computer is Vista and the desktop is also XP. Even AT&T came over the house and said something is wrong with the computer.
View 12 Replies View RelatedI have the same machine, same problems. After a reformat, WindowsXP would not reload drivers (from the OEM software provided by DELL). I reinstalled (in order) with a fair amount of difficulty got them all to load EXCEPT for the network adapter. I've download the adapter software AND driver; still no luck. Still working on this bugaboo. Incidentally, what saved me with the other drivers (yellow question marks on Base System Device controller, ethernet, PCI, SM Bus, etc) is that I had run a Belarc Advisor utility printout prior to the reformat. So now I at least had something to compare the before and after reformat with.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy laptop is refusing to recognize the router. Until yesterday everything was fine, now it's not recognizing it at all. There are other computers on the network that connect just fine. When i go to Device Manager it is also missing the following:
Base System Device
Base System Device
Base System Device
Ethernet Controller
Network Controller
PCI Device
SM Bus Controller
Video Controller
Video Controller (VGA Compatible)
Since I can't get onto the internet from that computer, where to go to get the drivers for these to download.
my boss has a vostro 1500 laptop and is constantly losing internet connection. Before losing connection, a little blue world shows up in front of the computer picture in the lower right hand corner and then says *limited access available*, then he can not connect at all. If he disconnects and then reconnects it works for a short period of time and then the cycle begins again. Recently, i was told it was a new router, so we replaced the old router and still having these issues,

Is there any way to do this? I have a Dell inspiron 1500 with Windows 7. View 1 Replies View RelatedI am running my laptop on Windows 7 Proffesional 32 bit and it won't let me search for a wireless connection on the Control Panel I think it might be a problem with the wireless switch at the bottom as it doesn't show the wireless sign on the laptop. I have also tried running the laptop on Ultimate 64 bit but the problem continued to persist.

View 1 Replies View RelatedFour weeks ago I bought a Dell Vostro 3550 notebook to use it at home. I conntected it via my wireless accesspoint to get access to data on my NAS, which is within my home network. Then I noticed that the connection is not stable, although the computer says "excellent signal". Whenever I access files via explorer on the NAS I loose connection from time to time and the reaction time is very slow (sometimes I have to wait seconds).During search for the reason I pinged directly the access point and saw unacceptable slow response with large variation. I checked the connection with an other computer (running XP), using same position. There it works fine (see below) - stable connection. It seems that the configuration of the access point does not work well with the configuration of the Dell computer - or an hardware fault on the Vostro. Below are the test data and my configuration.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI've a Dell VOSTRO 1710. When I use an ethernet connection with my router, there is no problem. But when I try to have a wireless connection, all the wireless network of mine and of my neighbors are recognized, my WPA password too. Vista (32 bits) says I am connected but, when I try to reach a page on the web, get my e-mails or even ping an IP, I get no response. Note that I have other devices connected to that router which works without problem. I thought it was the driver of my Wifi card (Intel 4965agn) that does not work. Thus, I try to update (and even downgrade) them from Intel® Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN - Download Center. Nevertheless, it does not work. Note that it worked one week ago. The problem has suddenly appeared.

I am using the standard drivers which came with the system. There was no software with the headset.
I have a Inspiron 9400/E1705 laptop with the Dell Wireless 1500 802.11n WLan card when I try to use the utility I get an error message that the internal settings are bad and to restart the computer to fix. It does not fix this. I am currently using the windows wireless to control the card. Is there a way to fix this, It used to work fine just when I downloaded the R151519 update now even when I use a previous update I still get this error. The driver is Broadcom dated 10/12/2006 version 4.100.15.5
View 3 Replies View RelatedOn receiving my new dell vostro 3550, I reinstalled the windows 7 cd that came with the computer.
Before I did, I had internet connection, now I don't.
It says it finds no device. All i did was install windows. What else do I need to do for it to recognise the devices are on the system?
I recently received the blue screen and had to do a clean install of Windows XP on my Dell Vostro 1520. I then proceeded to install the Dell drivers and downloads in the order according to Dell's website. But the wireless driver continually gave me a Setup.rul 380 error, so I did a manual install of that. Unfortunately something is still incorrect. The internet connects, but the wireless icon at the bottom has a pop that says "Adapter Problem. Driver is not installed." I don't know a lot about computers and I'm not sure if I did something wrong, but I can't figure this one out.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have Win 7 and Win 8 dual booting on my brand new Dell Vostro laptop. The wireless works beautifully while using Win 7, but when I switch to Win 8... the actual Fn+F2 wireless switch has no effect whatsoever! So I know the machine is OK, the network is OK, but what could be making the machine act differently under Windows 8? Device manager and details say the driver is up to date.. What do I look for next?? I don't think I'm going to be able to get a call through to Microsoft!!

However, I am now trying to set the wireless connection up so that I can surf on the laptop and my girlfriend on her ipad in separate rooms. I currently haven't got as far as getting the laptop to work along with the modem and router, I think there may be an IP conflict. i want wireless router to work with an external wireless connection via my ISP?

I installed the WLAN 1501 Half Mini-Card (4313bgn) (R270598) driver as this is the wireless card that I have and it installs. The problem I have is that the wireless software and windows says my wireless card's radio is disabled and that I need to switch the radio on using the switch on the laptop. This laptop has a physical switch and no matter if I turn it on or off.. the radio remains off. Even the wireless light above the keyboard does not switch on.The thing is, before the hard drive crashed, my wireless worked fine. Is it possible that the switch broke too, or am I missing some kind of driver or software for the wireless switch.

View 11 Replies View RelatedToday after I restarted my laptop (Dell vostro 1400 running windows), I found that I can't open any pages or sites. My wireless utility icon tells me that my laptop is connected to my router, but neither of my browsers (chrome or firefox) will load anything. However, if I turn off my wireless (there's a switch that I can trigger) and try to load a page immediately after turning it back on, then a page will load, though anything after that will not. I'm positive that it's not my router or my internet because my computer and iPod touch connect perfectly fine, it's just my laptop will not.I thought that I might have accidentally gotten malware so I ran malwarebytes in safe mode and it found one Trojan, which I removed afterwards, though I don't remember what it's name or type was. I restarted my laptop afterwards hoping that removing the Trojan would work but I'm still having the same problem.
