View 14 RepliesI have a Inspiron 9400/E1705 laptop with the Dell Wireless 1500 802.11n WLan card when I try to use the utility I get an error message that the internal settings are bad and to restart the computer to fix. It does not fix this. I am currently using the windows wireless to control the card. Is there a way to fix this, It used to work fine just when I downloaded the R151519 update now even when I use a previous update I still get this error. The driver is Broadcom dated 10/12/2006 version 4.100.15.5

View 13 Replies View RelatedI am unable to install the driver for my wireless device on my Dell Vostro 1500 laptop running Windows XP Professional. The laptop originally came with Windows Vista Basic edition. I have tried installing the driver for Windows XP from the original drivers CD that came with the laptop and also by downloading it from Dell's Web site. The driver program installs without giving an error, but after installation the device remains nonfunctional and the Device Manager shows no information about the wireless hardware.
My system spec's are as follows:
- Model: Dell Vostro 1500
- Operating System : Windows XP Professional
- Processor : Intel Core 2 Duo 2.2GHz
- Main memory: 2 GB
- Video card : Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family
got an old Dell Vostro 1500.
(BTW, I saw in the specs of the 1500 that it has Dual Core proccessor, but his is Centerino. How come?)
I formated his computer due to slow-speed among other problems, and did clean install of Win XP Pro.
Now I d/led all the drivers from Dell's site regarding the Vostro 1500, and installed them.
My problem is: Windows doesn't recognize a wireless adapter on the laptop.
Network Connections has only 1394 and LAN options.
In the 'Device Manager' I've got a question mark on "Network Controller" and on "SM channel".
I've tried to manually install Dell Wireless driver - no success.
Tried to set the laptop to ignore the Wireless switch through the BIOS - still havn't got any sign of Wireless adapter in Windows.
BTW - in the BIOS menu - I see "Dell Wireless" under "Wireless" property.
I have Dell Vostro 1500, i was reinstalling my latop today, and when I try to install Intel PROSet/Wireless WiFi Connection Utility, there is a error at the end of the installation "Driver is not installed, a problem with this connection has been detected" , the internet is not working.

View 12 Replies View RelatedI have the same machine, same problems. After a reformat, WindowsXP would not reload drivers (from the OEM software provided by DELL). I reinstalled (in order) with a fair amount of difficulty got them all to load EXCEPT for the network adapter. I've download the adapter software AND driver; still no luck. Still working on this bugaboo. Incidentally, what saved me with the other drivers (yellow question marks on Base System Device controller, ethernet, PCI, SM Bus, etc) is that I had run a Belarc Advisor utility printout prior to the reformat. So now I at least had something to compare the before and after reformat with.

Since I can't get onto the internet from that computer, where to go to get the drivers for these to download.
I'm looking for a wireless router with a range of up to 1500'.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a new Linksys 1500 router which I am using to replace an older WRT54GS. They are connected to a wired router (BEFSR81) to allow a wireless network to work in conjunction with my wired one. The WRT54GS ran as an access point. The 1500 does not seem to have that option. I have successfully been able to set up the new router and use it with laptops, ipads, etc. Where I’m running into problems is with my Squeezebox. Although I can see the network and enter a passcode into the Squeezebox, it never connects (the light on the Squeezebox is green (acquiring IP address from network). It never gets beyond this point. I have tried: Disabling securityChanging mode from mixed to various optionsDisabling firewallsNothing seems to work

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy network card went bad. So I replaced the card with a Dynex Gigabit card and it seemed to work. Used the computer that day but the next day the computer wouldn't power up. So I checked the computer, the cabel, the plug, etc.. I pulled the new network card and the computer powered up just fine but no internet. Well, I thought, must be gremlins and re-installed the network card. Again, the computer wouldn't power up. So I spoke to Dynex technical support and the guy I spoke to suggested that the card might be a bad card. So I got a second Dynex card; replaced that and same thing; computer wouldn't power up. If I fiddle with the card (pull and re-set) the computer starts but the computer won't start again after I turn it off. So I said, matbe it's a "cheap" card and went to another computer store and got a D-Link Gigabit Desktop PCI Adapter, installed (along with new software after having removed the old Dynex software) and; same thing.
SO, I am at my wits end. What is causing my Dell XPS 420 to behave like this. I don't want to resort to Dell because their technical support costs are outrageous.

1. Any device which is switched off (WiFi turned off) wont be able to connect again without a router reboot. I get a connection timeout error when trying to connect. Happens only when there are more than 3 devices connected. (all my devices are ARP linked to MAC addresses with fixed IP addresses - I thought this would eleminate the problem but not)
2. Streaming videos stop playing after 5 minutes. I have to click on the play button to start the stream again. When I test the internet speed through speedtest.net or speedtest.comcast.net, I get over 40MBPS consistently.
3. The router doesnt recogonize 3TB or above HDDs on either ports
4. As long as all devices connect to one channel (either 5G or 2.4G), the connectivity speed is excellent. The moment a device connects to the other channel, the connection speed fluctuates a lot on both.

Wireless: I'm able to see the networks but, not able to connect to it cant figure out what is stopping it.
Wired: Thinking I should be able to work with wired but it is not working either. I tried turning the wired option off (f2) but that is not working either.
I have looked up and down on the Dell community and already tried to reinstall wireless driver with no luck. I'm at the end of the rope. I need some other options to try to get this working.
It's a Dell Inspiron N4050, running Windows 7 Home Basic, Service Pack 1. I haven't been able to connect to the internet via an ethernet cable nor wirelessly. The wireless indicator is on (duh!) and the ethernet cable works with a PC sitting next to the laptop. I have a ARRIS modem (yes, the third world) and it works fine wirelessly with other devices here such as phones and laptops. When I plug in the ethernet cable it tells me that it can't identify the network. I do see all the wireless connections but it's the same, unable to identify network. I've tired all sorts of things, having studied computer science myself I'm not a total beginner, but the OS is in Spanish so it's really hard to make sense of things. If I can't fix this soon I will be forced to reformat the computer. The pros of doing that is that I will get the OS in English and lose all the rubbish Dell pre-installs on their products. The setback is that I won't have the drivers installed for the NIC and other things (although they should be on the optical disc that came with the notebook). Perhaps the problem is the modem, maybe I need a driver for it. Somehow I don't think that is the case because I brough my own hard drive from my country of origin and I put it inside the PC and it connected instantly with the internet via the modem.
