Dell :: XPS M1330 Wireless Not Working?
Nov 23, 2012I've had this computer for a number of years. A while back it stopped accessing the internet without having to connect via Ethernet cord.

View 1 RepliesI recently swapped in a ssd for this laptop. I reinstalled windows Vista Home Pre and the drivers using the disks that originally came with the laptop. Things basically work. But I no longer seem to have a wireless adapter. Now, I'm pretty sure that swapping a hd and reinstalling software doesn't make a piece of hardware disappear. But I am at a loss. I loaded all the drivers. When I go to the network and share center, the window says there are not networks available. When I click on diagnose and repair, it tells me to install the wireless hardware.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy XPS M1330 was working fine until today. While using the computer, it disconnected from my home wireless network. Windows Device Manager tells me the device is working normally. The WiFi switch is on but the WiFi catcher doesn't find any networks. I can connect to my home network with an Ethernet cable and my desktop, which is on the same network, can connect so i know its not my modem or router.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI own a Dell XPS M1330 laptop (Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit, service pack 1) that is about three and a half years old. I realize this Dell model has been discontinued. Work with me here. I STRONGLY believe after 6+ hours of personal troubleshooting that the laptop model is NOT the problem. I have lived at the same apartment complex the entire time I have owned this laptop. Up until a month ago when a new management company (the third one I’ve had) took over, I was able to use the free WiFi they offer at the office and the laundry room without one single speck of a problem weekly for YEARS. Suddenly I am getting: Unidentified Network: No Internet Connection with a public park bench (which it is a public network, I suppose) and a “!” over my perfect five bar signal. Therefore, we can rule out signal strength as the problem. I have a Dell Wireless 1395 WLAN Mino-Card, the card that came pre-installed with the laptop when I bought it brand new. Also, I know the Dell Wireless Card WLAN Utility is installed on this computer but I’ve always used Windows Network and Sharing Center to control the WiFi network I am connected to. I saw something somewhere about this maybe being the problem but since I’ve never used it I don’t think it has anything to do with my problem…
Talk about the router will be brief as it is my apartment complex they will not allow me access to the router so I know virtually nothing other than it is a Cisco wireless router, there are three office computers connected to it that run the internet just fine, and DCHP is enabled on both my laptop and the router (I may or may not have snuck in against their wishes to figure this one out…).
Also noteworthy are two things. One: I can connect to about a dozen other public WiFi networks around the city malls, coffee shops, bookstores, the college campuses, ECT. So connecting to WiFi is not the problem, this WiFi network specifically is (AKA. My NIC is NOT dead). I can also connect to my boyfriend’s private network at his house. The second thing worth noting is that once, I got the manager to cave and re-set the router for me. It connected! I re-started my computer and it still connected! I took my laptop back to my apartment, brought it back re-booted an hour late and it still connected! The next morning; back to the same old annoying problem. I asked him if they did ANYTHING with the computers at night and he said no.
As I stated, I have 6+ hours of troubleshooting pre-done on this problem. I have tried what I am able to with no access to the router (okay, maybe I snuck in and did a couple more things…) including:
Re-start laptop.
Re-start router.
Disable all firewalls/virus protection programs/ect.
Connect to the internet in Safe Mode.
Disable Bonjour.
Uninstall wireless card/re-install wireless card/un-install drivers/re-install drivers/update drivers.
Reset the TCP/IP stack.
[code].....
My XPS M1330 right now doesn't show any default gateway after i run 'route print' at Command Prompt. From my experience, once we have connect to the wireless SSID, when we do 'route print' at Command Prompt it is supposedly show like below right?and it mean that we get the clear routing to the internet right?however, on my laptop, i can't get the default gateway after i issue the 'route print' command at Command Prompt.on the other word, Default Gateway doesn't appear at my screen. so, i can't browse to the internet.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI know the wifi in the laptop works, i know the laptop has no issues.I know this because i switched my hard drive from my 1330 to this laptop which is also a 1330...connects and works fine.Wifi IS turned on In device manager the driver is ok no exclamation marks anywhere When i try and connect with the ethernet i get identifying no network access, then it says currently connected to unidentified network, no network access! You cannot browse. So that being said it must be in the setting with windows 7.I uninstalled and reinstalled the wifi driver it did not make any difference.I also tried using a Ethernet connection and it would not connect either. When i use the win 7 trubleshooter it states a network cable is not properly plugged in or may be broken.Remember this laptop functions fine with my hard drive in it with windows xp.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI have an XPS M1330 with an internal Dell Mobile Broadband Mini-card 5720 VZW for Verizon. The Dell Mobile Broadband Utility (DMBCU) now reports an APPCRASH upon launch only when Windows Internet Explorer 8 (IE8) is installed. I'm certain it is due to IE8 and probably the required MeadCo Zeepe add-ins that are required for dmbcu.exe functionality. Upon uninstallation of IE8, the dmbcu.exe works flawlessly.
Is there any update or plan to update the DMBCU for the 5720 VZW minicard?
When I attempt to install R226750. It gets to a point where it tells me to activate bluetooth with the wireless switch. My wireless is always on but even when I toggled it on and off, it did not make a difference.
I also installed the DELL Radio switch patch for turning on my bluetooth and that has not worked. why my machine cannot turn on the bluetooth?
Just FYI - I am trying to install a mouse and printer which I am able to see on other bluetooth devices.
I am passing my computer on to a family member and wanted to give them a fresh install, so I used the Windows Vista (32-bit SP1) disc that came with the laptop and reinstalled Vista on the computer. Everything worked fine until I wanted to connect to the internet, then Windows said that there were no networks available. When I selected "Why can't windows find any networks" it said that "This computer does not have a wireless network adapter installed and configured". I put in the Dell Driver's and Utilities CD that came with the computer and installed the drivers that seemed related to networks or communications, but the problem persists. I'm assuming it is some sort of driver issue (as the computer was using wireless internet before the reformat (just hours ago) and so the device itself seems to be working.

View 14 Replies View RelatedMy network card went bad. So I replaced the card with a Dynex Gigabit card and it seemed to work. Used the computer that day but the next day the computer wouldn't power up. So I checked the computer, the cabel, the plug, etc.. I pulled the new network card and the computer powered up just fine but no internet. Well, I thought, must be gremlins and re-installed the network card. Again, the computer wouldn't power up. So I spoke to Dynex technical support and the guy I spoke to suggested that the card might be a bad card. So I got a second Dynex card; replaced that and same thing; computer wouldn't power up. If I fiddle with the card (pull and re-set) the computer starts but the computer won't start again after I turn it off. So I said, matbe it's a "cheap" card and went to another computer store and got a D-Link Gigabit Desktop PCI Adapter, installed (along with new software after having removed the old Dynex software) and; same thing.
SO, I am at my wits end. What is causing my Dell XPS 420 to behave like this. I don't want to resort to Dell because their technical support costs are outrageous.

A few months went by and i randomly got my wireless internet connection back for about 2-3 months now all of a sudden my wireless is out again. i ran tests in other threads posted on this subject and the only way they got it to work was to buy a usb connection. is this the only way im going to be able to get wireless back?
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop computer recently had a problem with its hard drive. I took it in and the computer guy had to get me a new hard drive. I picked it up today and my internet won't work! No networks show up. I've tried pushing the F2 key that usually turns the wireless on and off, but nothing. I went into my control panel>network and internet>network map, and it says, "The adapter is not connected." What do I need to do to get my wireless to work?

View 4 Replies View Relatedmy Dell inspiron n5010 network adapter none are working wired/wireless
Wireless: I'm able to see the networks but, not able to connect to it cant figure out what is stopping it.
Wired: Thinking I should be able to work with wired but it is not working either. I tried turning the wired option off (f2) but that is not working either.
I have looked up and down on the Dell community and already tried to reinstall wireless driver with no luck. I'm at the end of the rope. I need some other options to try to get this working.
It's a Dell Inspiron N4050, running Windows 7 Home Basic, Service Pack 1. I haven't been able to connect to the internet via an ethernet cable nor wirelessly. The wireless indicator is on (duh!) and the ethernet cable works with a PC sitting next to the laptop. I have a ARRIS modem (yes, the third world) and it works fine wirelessly with other devices here such as phones and laptops. When I plug in the ethernet cable it tells me that it can't identify the network. I do see all the wireless connections but it's the same, unable to identify network. I've tired all sorts of things, having studied computer science myself I'm not a total beginner, but the OS is in Spanish so it's really hard to make sense of things. If I can't fix this soon I will be forced to reformat the computer. The pros of doing that is that I will get the OS in English and lose all the rubbish Dell pre-installs on their products. The setback is that I won't have the drivers installed for the NIC and other things (although they should be on the optical disc that came with the notebook). Perhaps the problem is the modem, maybe I need a driver for it. Somehow I don't think that is the case because I brough my own hard drive from my country of origin and I put it inside the PC and it connected instantly with the internet via the modem.
ipconfig:
IPv4: 169.254.113.41 (link-local address)
Subnet mask: 255.255.0.0
Default gateway: none
I've been having problems with connecting wirelessly with my laptop (Inspiron 1525). Suddenly it's only able to connect to the local network, but I have no internet access. When I've tried to diagnose the problem, it's given me the option to reset the network adapter, but that hasn't solved the problem. The person who started this thread seems to have similar issues - [URL], however, unlike him my drivers aren't missing. I tried downloading the Dell driver which applies to my WLAN card and reinstalling it anyway, but that didn't work. When I go to device manager, the device status claims that the device is working properly. I also did a system restore but the situation remains unchanged...I still can't connect to my wireless!
My computer is running Vista and prior to this happening I hadn't reinstalled or tried to change any settings, it just seems to have happened spontaneously.
my wireless wont work after having to re-install vista on my dell inspiron 1525

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Vostro 3460 laptop that I would like to dual boot with Linux. I can't seem to get the wifi working in linux.
This laptop is listed as "ubuntu ready" but I can't seem to find a driver for it anywhere. I have tried many solutions from all over the linux community but nothing seems to work. It seems like most of the linux driver sets support all the broadcom chips except this one. I need drivers for the bcm43142.
My hard drive recently failed, and I installed a new hdd in my Studio XPS 1647. Everything seems to be working like a charm... except the wireless. I'm running Windows 7 64Bit, for your reference. I went to the Dell driver site, and ignorant, originally downloaded everything that seemed to be relevant concerning the networking drivers. When that didn't work, I came upon an article that gave the correct order of driver installations. I re-installed in that order, albeit using the download manager. No luck. I've run Dell Diagnostics, and the only problem it sees is USB status (but USB is working great... I've printed and access my external hd without problem)... no problems showing with networking. Under the device manager, Base System Device (2), Intel Centrino Advanced-N WiMax6250 and Network Controller all have (!) marks. I actually un-installed all of those, and re-installed the network drives for a 3rd time. Still no go.

My computer:Dell 1555 studio w/intel centrinoVista 64 bit
Symptoms: Can't find wireless connectionsCan connect if directly wired to router. When I press F2 there is no wireless tower like before, just bluetooth symbol
Things i've tried: Re-installing all drivers/software. Reset to factory settingsWould really like to get my wireless running again as I need it for work
It’s just that I had it with Bluetooth in it in my Alienware Mx14-R2 and for some reasons now the Bluetooth doesn’t seem to work. Not I can find the driver in the device manager also., Before I use to use it but now it’s creating problem and it’s just the Bluetooth that doesn’t seem to work.
I did notify Alienware team about it and they did the online conference GO Assist and they did re-install the whole software but there seems to be problem still.I thought it’s better to ask the experts who made the device. I was also told if it doesn’t work that I could just do the factory settings that came with the alienware.
i have a yellow question mark on in front of the network controller in the device manager..
how to fix it, i have downloaded all the software on the dell site, and none of them do it..
I recently formatted my XPS M1530 and installed Windows 7 32-bit Ultimate on it. Everything works flawless, except for the wireless. I have tired installing the Vista drivers available on the Dell website but it did not work. I have tired several other drivers (compatible with my product) also, but they too dint work. Infact, my bluetooth doesnt even work.
View 9 Replies View RelatedMy computer used to work fine with wifi but all of a sudden the wifi is not working. At the bottom of the screen I get the bluetooth icon and the little icon with green tick that comes up when you plug in a usb keeps on flashing. The computer show wireless networks available but the next second they disappear. I have installed the driver from dell website, reinstalled the windows and the driver couple of time but the problem persists.
I tried to locate the driver and the hardware and when I go to Device Manager the list keeps on refreshing every 10 seconds.
Under the device manager Network Adapters I can see Broadcom 440x10/100 Integrated Controller and Microsoft ISATAP Adapter 2 (the later keeps coming and disappearing every 10 seconds)
Under the other devices I see yellow semi colon next to Base Sys Device (3 times) and Network controller.
I have a Dell Studio 1537 running on Windows Vista? my computer stopped being able to connect to the internet a few days ago and a "Dell Wireless WLAN Controller closed and stopped working" (or something along those lines) box would keep on popping up. I did some reading around on the internet and decided that maybe I needed to update the "drivers" for it so I went to the Dell website and downloaded the most recent version for my Dell Wireless 1510 WLAN mini card...that didn't seem to work any after I installed it. So I went ahead and uninstalled it (I assume I must have uninstalled something I shouldn't have) and now I'm stuck at the same problem. I can't connect to the internet! In Network Connections, it continually says that "Windows cannot find any networks". In Device Manager, under Network Adapters, it doesn't list the card there, although it lists "Broadcom Netlink (TM) Gigabit Ethernet". And from some suggestions I found on the net, I tried ipconfig/all in the comand promt and it says "media disconnected".
