Dell :: XPS M1330 / Can't Get Default Gateway
Jun 3, 2012
My XPS M1330 right now doesn't show any default gateway after i run 'route print' at Command Prompt. From my experience, once we have connect to the wireless SSID, when we do 'route print' at Command Prompt it is supposedly show like below right?and it mean that we get the clear routing to the internet right?however, on my laptop, i can't get the default gateway after i issue the 'route print' command at Command Prompt.on the other word, Default Gateway doesn't appear at my screen. so, i can't browse to the internet.

I bought my mother a new Inspiron 17R. She really mostly needs it for internet and email. I set it up at my house, and was able to access the internet via my wireless connection just fine. I brought it to her house, it connected fine there also. For a couple of weeks everything was fine. Then suddenly it lost ALL connectivity to the internet. When I troubleshoot the connection, the error message is "default gateway is not available". This occurs both on the wireless connection at my mother's house AND back at my own wireless connection at my house. At the same time, multiple other computers continue to connect without issue to both networks, so we can rule out a problem with the modem and/or the WAP. I went back to a Windows restore point when I know that the connection was working, but even after that I continue to have the same problem.
I've also tried connecting via an ethernet cable directly to the router. Same result. To add insult to injury, the DELL tech support web site pretty much times out when I try to log on there to find out any info. I can't even add the new service tag to my account. Right now the device is just an expensive doorstop for all the use it is to my mother.
I tried to do some research online (not on the uncooperative DELL site), as a result of that I tried a couple of things like checking the default gateway value under network connection details. It shows as 192.168.1.1 which should be correct. Also I unchecked the TCP/IPv6 option under Wirless network properties. Network Card is Broadcam DW1501 Wireless-N WLAN Half-Mini Card.

I have a Dell Inspiron One 2305 All in One computer that has worked great until about two days ago. When trying to access the Internet, we get a Server Not Available message, then start the troubleshooting as listed on the screen... It says that the "Default Gateway is Not Available" and then continues to reset things until the computer works OK on the Internet... It will work fine for an hour or a day then do the same thing again. The computer is connected to a router and all of the other computers in the house using the routers wireless function without a problem.

I currently have a Dell Inspiron 15R Notebook (Inspiron 7520) with a i5-3210M processor, 6GB DDR3 RAM, and an intel centrino wireless 2230 network adapter. I am running Windows 8My IP is Cox and I have a SURFboard Model : SB6120 with a Netgear N600 router. My problem is that on my laptop only ( other family members have Lenovos with Atheros network adapters) my internet connection will randomly disconnect, and I get the yellow triangle. Usually if I run the troubleshooter, it identifies the problem as the default gateway not being available, and then it fixes the problem temporarily.

I own an Inspiron n5110 laptop(Dell) with an Intel(R) Centrino(R) Wireless-N 1030 wireless card. I use Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. I constantly drop internet connection, mainly when downloading and playing games. In the right bottom corner, where my wireless connection signal strenght is showed, I get an yellow triangle with '!' mark in it saying 'Limited access'. When troubleshooting, the only way to get an internet connection again, I get an message 'The default gateway is not available' and it says that it's fixed. after awhile I lose internet connection again and everything repeats. I figured out that it's not from my router or Internet Service Provider. I saw in the forums the option to exchange this card for the 6230 upgraded version but that is not a variant for me because in my country the technicians can at very damage the laptop.

I recently swapped in a ssd for this laptop. I reinstalled windows Vista Home Pre and the drivers using the disks that originally came with the laptop. Things basically work. But I no longer seem to have a wireless adapter. Now, I'm pretty sure that swapping a hd and reinstalling software doesn't make a piece of hardware disappear. But I am at a loss. I loaded all the drivers. When I go to the network and share center, the window says there are not networks available. When I click on diagnose and repair, it tells me to install the wireless hardware.

I know the wifi in the laptop works, i know the laptop has no issues.I know this because i switched my hard drive from my 1330 to this laptop which is also a 1330...connects and works fine.Wifi IS turned on In device manager the driver is ok no exclamation marks anywhere When i try and connect with the ethernet i get identifying no network access, then it says currently connected to unidentified network, no network access! You cannot browse. So that being said it must be in the setting with windows 7.I uninstalled and reinstalled the wifi driver it did not make any difference.I also tried using a Ethernet connection and it would not connect either. When i use the win 7 trubleshooter it states a network cable is not properly plugged in or may be broken.Remember this laptop functions fine with my hard drive in it with windows xp.

I have an XPS M1330 with an internal Dell Mobile Broadband Mini-card 5720 VZW for Verizon. The Dell Mobile Broadband Utility (DMBCU) now reports an APPCRASH upon launch only when Windows Internet Explorer 8 (IE8) is installed. I'm certain it is due to IE8 and probably the required MeadCo Zeepe add-ins that are required for dmbcu.exe functionality. Upon uninstallation of IE8, the dmbcu.exe works flawlessly.
Is there any update or plan to update the DMBCU for the 5720 VZW minicard?

When I attempt to install R226750. It gets to a point where it tells me to activate bluetooth with the wireless switch. My wireless is always on but even when I toggled it on and off, it did not make a difference.
I also installed the DELL Radio switch patch for turning on my bluetooth and that has not worked. why my machine cannot turn on the bluetooth?
Just FYI - I am trying to install a mouse and printer which I am able to see on other bluetooth devices.

My XPS M1330 was working fine until today. While using the computer, it disconnected from my home wireless network. Windows Device Manager tells me the device is working normally. The WiFi switch is on but the WiFi catcher doesn't find any networks. I can connect to my home network with an Ethernet cable and my desktop, which is on the same network, can connect so i know its not my modem or router.

I own a Dell XPS M1330 laptop (Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit, service pack 1) that is about three and a half years old. I realize this Dell model has been discontinued. Work with me here. I STRONGLY believe after 6+ hours of personal troubleshooting that the laptop model is NOT the problem. I have lived at the same apartment complex the entire time I have owned this laptop. Up until a month ago when a new management company (the third one I’ve had) took over, I was able to use the free WiFi they offer at the office and the laundry room without one single speck of a problem weekly for YEARS. Suddenly I am getting: Unidentified Network: No Internet Connection with a public park bench (which it is a public network, I suppose) and a “!” over my perfect five bar signal. Therefore, we can rule out signal strength as the problem. I have a Dell Wireless 1395 WLAN Mino-Card, the card that came pre-installed with the laptop when I bought it brand new. Also, I know the Dell Wireless Card WLAN Utility is installed on this computer but I’ve always used Windows Network and Sharing Center to control the WiFi network I am connected to. I saw something somewhere about this maybe being the problem but since I’ve never used it I don’t think it has anything to do with my problem…
Talk about the router will be brief as it is my apartment complex they will not allow me access to the router so I know virtually nothing other than it is a Cisco wireless router, there are three office computers connected to it that run the internet just fine, and DCHP is enabled on both my laptop and the router (I may or may not have snuck in against their wishes to figure this one out…).
Also noteworthy are two things. One: I can connect to about a dozen other public WiFi networks around the city malls, coffee shops, bookstores, the college campuses, ECT. So connecting to WiFi is not the problem, this WiFi network specifically is (AKA. My NIC is NOT dead). I can also connect to my boyfriend’s private network at his house. The second thing worth noting is that once, I got the manager to cave and re-set the router for me. It connected! I re-started my computer and it still connected! I took my laptop back to my apartment, brought it back re-booted an hour late and it still connected! The next morning; back to the same old annoying problem. I asked him if they did ANYTHING with the computers at night and he said no.
As I stated, I have 6+ hours of troubleshooting pre-done on this problem. I have tried what I am able to with no access to the router (okay, maybe I snuck in and did a couple more things…) including:
Re-start laptop.
Re-start router.
Disable all firewalls/virus protection programs/ect.
Connect to the internet in Safe Mode.
Disable Bonjour.
Uninstall wireless card/re-install wireless card/un-install drivers/re-install drivers/update drivers.
Reset the TCP/IP stack.

I am passing my computer on to a family member and wanted to give them a fresh install, so I used the Windows Vista (32-bit SP1) disc that came with the laptop and reinstalled Vista on the computer. Everything worked fine until I wanted to connect to the internet, then Windows said that there were no networks available. When I selected "Why can't windows find any networks" it said that "This computer does not have a wireless network adapter installed and configured". I put in the Dell Driver's and Utilities CD that came with the computer and installed the drivers that seemed related to networks or communications, but the problem persists. I'm assuming it is some sort of driver issue (as the computer was using wireless internet before the reformat (just hours ago) and so the device itself seems to be working.

Periodically, I drop internet everywhere around my college's campus. I'm literally four feet from a router, but it doesn't seem to matter. I'll disconnect, run troubleshooter, and I'll get the error message saying that the default gateway is not available. My college is designed for Macs, but I'm running Windows 7. My Mac colleagues do not experience problems. The computer works at home and at nearly every other wireless network I've brought it in range of. Specifically, either IBM or Dell.

I recently got a new laptop and ever since, the internet goes in and out. Most of the time it is not out long enough to display the no connectivity icon or stop music from streaming but it is noticeable. When I run the troubleshooter it says that the default gateway is unavailable. I tried manually setting the connection information but the same thing keeps happening except the troubleshooter then says that DHCP is not enabled. I've disabled every firewall I can find and updated all the drivers available. Here is my info:[CODE]

I am having issues playing certain games on my ps3. So I've been searching for solutions and I came across a video that wanted me to go to run/cmd/ipconfig. I have little knowledge of computers but I'm not sure that what my ipconfig is showing is supposed to be there. At first I googled and learned about ipv6 addresses because i found that weird but i think that checks out fine. I then googled about the weird numbers and letters in my default gateway and came up empty. Is there a reason thats there?

Basically, I'm using a broadband modem, which appears to be connecting fine, with all the required lights being on. My ISP says that, from their end, everything is perfect. Even my laptop shows Local Area Network as connected. However, for some reason, I am not able to access the internet. I was able to use it till last evening, but suddenly the internet stopped working. On Google Chrome, it says that there is no DNS or something.Subsequently, when I tried to access my modem settings, it shows as 'webpage not available'. I then noticed that there is no default gateway! I was able to access it the day before, but now I can't.

I am trying to get rid of 2 old 2651xm's and 2 2950's from my CCNA days and want to get into the ASA realm. Can I be able to use the ASA, not only as a security appliance / firewall, but also be able to write the access lists, etc, to be able to use this as my router to push packets to and from my internal LAN to the outside world? I guess I should have stated as this being the front end device to my network, just after my DSL Cable modem, that is..and being the only device. I am trying to have this as my main router /firewall solution and then I have an old Linksys router I will pipe off one of the L2 ports to have an AP for my wireless devices? Is this a real solution an ASA can provide?

I rdp into our server 2008 via IP. This is a router on ip 0.1, this is forwarded to my server on IP 0.3. This server was setup with DHCP default gateway of 0.1. We added a new outside connection on IP 0.2. I was talked through the changes so that internal DHCP requests went to gateway IP 0.2 but RDP still used 0.1. I plan on getting rid of 0.1.Where is the setting to change the RDP to use default gateway of 0.2?

I've been trying to connect to the internet all day. Every time it connects, but only with limited connectivity. I run troubleshooting, but it doesn't fix the problem. Sometimes it won't have anything to report back other times it says that the default gateway is unavailable. My laptop is the only device in our home that won't connect, so I don't think it's the router.I think the router is a cisco router, there is a cisco box mounted on the ceiling with a cord leading into it (I don't have access to any buttons though)I live in an apartment building with free internet, so I'm not sure who the provider is.

I had problems connecting to my wireless internet for extended periods of time with my lease expiring almost instantly. Nobody else in my house had trouble connecting, only me. Troubleshooting the connection only showed that the default gateway was not available and failed to allow me to connect despite "fixing" the problem. I attempted the ipconfig/renew, netsh int ip reset reset.log, and netsh winsock reset catalog operations in cmd as an administrator to no avail. Finally, as a last resort, I reset my modem and that finally allowed me to connect although occasionally I would be kicked off the connection and have to restart the modem again. I would still like to know the problem and a possible solution since my friends seem to have a similar problem with their wireless internet.

I have been having some trouble with my internet for awhile now. It fine one second and than it will get really slow and eventually stop working. When I troubleshoot to see what the problem is it either gives me DNS server is not responding or default gateway is not available, sometimes it will give me both. It says it fixes the default gateway problem but it will show up again 5 minutes later.
Here is my ipconfig /all
