Dell :: XPS M1330 Wireless Networking?
Aug 24, 2012
I recently swapped in a ssd for this laptop. I reinstalled windows Vista Home Pre and the drivers using the disks that originally came with the laptop. Things basically work. But I no longer seem to have a wireless adapter. Now, I'm pretty sure that swapping a hd and reinstalling software doesn't make a piece of hardware disappear. But I am at a loss. I loaded all the drivers. When I go to the network and share center, the window says there are not networks available. When I click on diagnose and repair, it tells me to install the wireless hardware.

I've had this computer for a number of years. A while back it stopped accessing the internet without having to connect via Ethernet cord.

My XPS M1330 was working fine until today. While using the computer, it disconnected from my home wireless network. Windows Device Manager tells me the device is working normally. The WiFi switch is on but the WiFi catcher doesn't find any networks. I can connect to my home network with an Ethernet cable and my desktop, which is on the same network, can connect so i know its not my modem or router.

I own a Dell XPS M1330 laptop (Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit, service pack 1) that is about three and a half years old. I realize this Dell model has been discontinued. Work with me here. I STRONGLY believe after 6+ hours of personal troubleshooting that the laptop model is NOT the problem. I have lived at the same apartment complex the entire time I have owned this laptop. Up until a month ago when a new management company (the third one I’ve had) took over, I was able to use the free WiFi they offer at the office and the laundry room without one single speck of a problem weekly for YEARS. Suddenly I am getting: Unidentified Network: No Internet Connection with a public park bench (which it is a public network, I suppose) and a “!” over my perfect five bar signal. Therefore, we can rule out signal strength as the problem. I have a Dell Wireless 1395 WLAN Mino-Card, the card that came pre-installed with the laptop when I bought it brand new. Also, I know the Dell Wireless Card WLAN Utility is installed on this computer but I’ve always used Windows Network and Sharing Center to control the WiFi network I am connected to. I saw something somewhere about this maybe being the problem but since I’ve never used it I don’t think it has anything to do with my problem…
Talk about the router will be brief as it is my apartment complex they will not allow me access to the router so I know virtually nothing other than it is a Cisco wireless router, there are three office computers connected to it that run the internet just fine, and DCHP is enabled on both my laptop and the router (I may or may not have snuck in against their wishes to figure this one out…).
Also noteworthy are two things. One: I can connect to about a dozen other public WiFi networks around the city malls, coffee shops, bookstores, the college campuses, ECT. So connecting to WiFi is not the problem, this WiFi network specifically is (AKA. My NIC is NOT dead). I can also connect to my boyfriend’s private network at his house. The second thing worth noting is that once, I got the manager to cave and re-set the router for me. It connected! I re-started my computer and it still connected! I took my laptop back to my apartment, brought it back re-booted an hour late and it still connected! The next morning; back to the same old annoying problem. I asked him if they did ANYTHING with the computers at night and he said no.
As I stated, I have 6+ hours of troubleshooting pre-done on this problem. I have tried what I am able to with no access to the router (okay, maybe I snuck in and did a couple more things…) including:
Re-start laptop.
Re-start router.
Disable all firewalls/virus protection programs/ect.
Connect to the internet in Safe Mode.
Disable Bonjour.
Uninstall wireless card/re-install wireless card/un-install drivers/re-install drivers/update drivers.
Reset the TCP/IP stack.
[code].....

My XPS M1330 right now doesn't show any default gateway after i run 'route print' at Command Prompt. From my experience, once we have connect to the wireless SSID, when we do 'route print' at Command Prompt it is supposedly show like below right?and it mean that we get the clear routing to the internet right?however, on my laptop, i can't get the default gateway after i issue the 'route print' command at Command Prompt.on the other word, Default Gateway doesn't appear at my screen. so, i can't browse to the internet.

I know the wifi in the laptop works, i know the laptop has no issues.I know this because i switched my hard drive from my 1330 to this laptop which is also a 1330...connects and works fine.Wifi IS turned on In device manager the driver is ok no exclamation marks anywhere When i try and connect with the ethernet i get identifying no network access, then it says currently connected to unidentified network, no network access! You cannot browse. So that being said it must be in the setting with windows 7.I uninstalled and reinstalled the wifi driver it did not make any difference.I also tried using a Ethernet connection and it would not connect either. When i use the win 7 trubleshooter it states a network cable is not properly plugged in or may be broken.Remember this laptop functions fine with my hard drive in it with windows xp.

I have an XPS M1330 with an internal Dell Mobile Broadband Mini-card 5720 VZW for Verizon. The Dell Mobile Broadband Utility (DMBCU) now reports an APPCRASH upon launch only when Windows Internet Explorer 8 (IE8) is installed. I'm certain it is due to IE8 and probably the required MeadCo Zeepe add-ins that are required for dmbcu.exe functionality. Upon uninstallation of IE8, the dmbcu.exe works flawlessly.
Is there any update or plan to update the DMBCU for the 5720 VZW minicard?

When I attempt to install R226750. It gets to a point where it tells me to activate bluetooth with the wireless switch. My wireless is always on but even when I toggled it on and off, it did not make a difference.
I also installed the DELL Radio switch patch for turning on my bluetooth and that has not worked. why my machine cannot turn on the bluetooth?
Just FYI - I am trying to install a mouse and printer which I am able to see on other bluetooth devices.

I am passing my computer on to a family member and wanted to give them a fresh install, so I used the Windows Vista (32-bit SP1) disc that came with the laptop and reinstalled Vista on the computer. Everything worked fine until I wanted to connect to the internet, then Windows said that there were no networks available. When I selected "Why can't windows find any networks" it said that "This computer does not have a wireless network adapter installed and configured". I put in the Dell Driver's and Utilities CD that came with the computer and installed the drivers that seemed related to networks or communications, but the problem persists. I'm assuming it is some sort of driver issue (as the computer was using wireless internet before the reformat (just hours ago) and so the device itself seems to be working.

have a Dell laptop running Windows 98 on it and I'm trying to get a Linksys WPC54G ver. 4 PCMCIA adapter working on it. I finally got the adapter installed along with its device drivers and other required software such as IE6 and I have it connected to the router in my house. The only problem is, the card shows a connection between the card and the router but a broken connection between the router and the internet. I can't seem to figure out how to fix this considering all of the other wireless devices in our home (iPods, laptops, phone, tablets etc) connect to it which makes me think I have to designate (I'm no good at networking) an IP address or DNS like you would be able to on WinXP, Vista, or 7.I had a friend come over and he was looking through the admin settings on the router and said that it only supports WEP encryption, not WPA. The router is the standard router that Verizon gave us when they came in to install FIOS. The card says it supports WEP and WPA (Radius and PSK whatever that means) and I have it set to WEP and entered the password but I can't seem to get it connected to the internet. Would it work if I bought a new router or is there some kind of thing I need to punch into the Internet Protocol properties like you would on later OS'?

I'm using a dell Inspiron 1545 with windows vista home premium x64 bit. I recently had to reinstall the operating system due to some severe problems, and ever since, when I try to connect to a network it says "windows could not find any networks", so I hit diagnose, and it said that no wireless networking hardware is installed and configured on my computer.

INS 560 working fine until Windows Update installed recent Windows 7 updates.
After restart I now have a red 'X' through the Tray Connection Icon and no networking (LAN & Internet).
The Status of the Network Adapter is 'Working Properly'.
System Restore rolls back okay to before updates but as soon as Windows Update runs we have the same problem.
I've re booted into Ubuntu and the Network Adapter works fine.

Client has a Dell T310 SBS 2008 box with 3 workstations running Windows 7 Professional.
Network is currently like this
Westell DSL Modem > Belkin Router (consumer crap) > Dell Powerconnect 2816 > server > workstations
I used the wizards on SBS to configure the internet, add the users, connect the computers, etc.
We are having intermittent internet problems. The only problem in the server SYSTEM eventlog is "Cannot connect to DNS server". At first I thought it was a server DNS issue so I changed the maxcacheTTL to 3 days. However, I noticed that I couldn't get into the Belkin configuration so I had to manually reset the router and everything worked fine. One thing to note is that the SBS server is handling DHCP and DNS, and in the router configuration there isn't an option to not use an alternate config or the ISP. Could this be causing the problem?
I don't do this as my day job, so I need some good fixes or things to look for. The fix right now is to power cycle the router.

My home wifi works great this is from work. I've restarted the router. I've changed the channel from 6 to 8.I have no static ip.It works on my tablet and on other laptops.

I recently installed a very basic version of XP on my old laptop (Gateway MT3707).After hours of searching for the correct drivers, I found them, and installed them. After installing the correct drivers for wireless internet I was able to pull up the list and find my network on it.When double clicking on our wireless network it asks for a network key (also called WEP key or WPA key). Now we have a password for our network, but after an exhausting amount of tries that won't work. I not sure if that is what its looking for. In our apartment we run mac OSX, windows vista, etc., but usually the password for the network is satisfactory. I have never ran into this problem.I hate to be a noob, but I don't know where to go from here.

Having some serious problems on the networking front here at home. I have 3 PC's and 2 Xbox's that run constantly. Our Internet bandwidth is Insight's 50.0 which is 50Mb download speed 5Mb upload speed. The problem we're having is this. Ever since we upgraded from dual 20Mb lines on a Cisco RV042 to a 50Mb on a DIR-655 we've been having latency issues. I have everything turned off in the router. It's basically there to give out IP numbers and thats it. All security is handled from the PC's themselves. Bandwidth tests are fine, I sustain download speeds above 7MB/s using download managers. But pings are terrible. Xbox live is terrible, PC online gaming is terrible. Pingtest.com is terrible. Only when behind routers. I've tried it behind 3 seperate routers. The DIR-655, the Belkin f5d8236 that insight provided me, and the cisco rv042 originally used for dual wan routing. all of which are met with serious failure.
If I plug directly in to the modem pings are fine. Add a router and pings go to shit.

Now the program doesn't start automatically like it used to and when I try to open it i get an error message saying "Unable to locate files: C Program Files BelkinF5D7050v3rdcm2k.dll". I also have the disk for this but when I try to run it it says "An error occurred while defining the dialogue box." I also get this message when I try to uninstall or change it.

Wireless networking and access point. I setup a wireless network at a hotel with a net gear router n, three access points, and three repeaters. For some reason; one the access point keep losing the default gateway address. Or it could be all three access point could be losing the default address. I turn off the router and pull the power from all the access point. Then turn the router on and plug the power back into the access point. The default address is back and network working great. I try to find out why the default address keeps missing from the access point. The router is new.

I`m trying to set up a relative`s Internet up so that it is wireless; currently the router takes signal from cable, not phone, is wired only, and has just one ethernet port. I know the number of ports can easily be expanded using a switch, but is it possible to buy a piece of hardware which could be plugged into the router to broadcast a wireless signal as well? I have looked quite thoroughly for anything that could do this but I`m pretty new to networking

what I want to do is setup a Tablet for use and share my one Internet connection with it and my desktop. I do not want the desktop and the Tablet networked with each other. there is a Tablet on Newegg: Velocity Micro Cruz Reader R103. the details say it's communication is 802.11b/g Wireless LAN. so I copy and paste that on Newegg and get: D-Link DIR-601 Wireless Broadband Router. not sure if that's what i need or what the configuration would be but I kind of know how to set it up.my question is can I connect a Desktop and a Tablet or any PC device to a router like this with out networking the individual units with each other? just to where it serves as more a splitter. is there any wireless alternatives to only "split" the Internet connection and not network the desktop and Tablet?

I have an 802.11n USB Wireless Lan card on a desktop with Windows 7 home premium 64-bit. Whenever im searching the web, say i go to NFL.Com to check my fantasy squad, the pages wont load, and i see my connection has been dropped, now every time i click on the signal bars on the bottom right hand corner, it says no connection, but after about 2 seconds of clicking on it, it connects again. So in order for me to get my connection back, i have to click on my signal bar to get it back, which is ridiculous. I have other computers in my home, all of which do not have this problem, so its definitely something in my desktop, i also have about 3 wireless adapters i've tested it on, all of which do the exact same thing on my desktop only. I've also went to power management under configuration for my USB adapter and turned off the ''Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power'', it still drops my connection every 3-5 minutes.
