Dell :: Vostro Notebook 1500 Not Recognizing WRT54G V5 Router
Nov 14, 2011
My laptop is refusing to recognize the router. Until yesterday everything was fine, now it's not recognizing it at all. There are other computers on the network that connect just fine. When i go to Device Manager it is also missing the following:
Base System Device
Base System Device
Base System Device
Ethernet Controller
Network Controller
PCI Device
SM Bus Controller
Video Controller
Video Controller (VGA Compatible)
Since I can't get onto the internet from that computer, where to go to get the drivers for these to download.

I am unable to install the driver for my wireless device on my Dell Vostro 1500 laptop running Windows XP Professional. The laptop originally came with Windows Vista Basic edition. I have tried installing the driver for Windows XP from the original drivers CD that came with the laptop and also by downloading it from Dell's Web site. The driver program installs without giving an error, but after installation the device remains nonfunctional and the Device Manager shows no information about the wireless hardware.
My system spec's are as follows:
- Model: Dell Vostro 1500
- Operating System : Windows XP Professional
- Processor : Intel Core 2 Duo 2.2GHz
- Main memory: 2 GB
- Video card : Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family

I have the same machine, same problems. After a reformat, WindowsXP would not reload drivers (from the OEM software provided by DELL). I reinstalled (in order) with a fair amount of difficulty got them all to load EXCEPT for the network adapter. I've download the adapter software AND driver; still no luck. Still working on this bugaboo. Incidentally, what saved me with the other drivers (yellow question marks on Base System Device controller, ethernet, PCI, SM Bus, etc) is that I had run a Belarc Advisor utility printout prior to the reformat. So now I at least had something to compare the before and after reformat with.

got an old Dell Vostro 1500.
(BTW, I saw in the specs of the 1500 that it has Dual Core proccessor, but his is Centerino. How come?)
I formated his computer due to slow-speed among other problems, and did clean install of Win XP Pro.
Now I d/led all the drivers from Dell's site regarding the Vostro 1500, and installed them.
My problem is: Windows doesn't recognize a wireless adapter on the laptop.
Network Connections has only 1394 and LAN options.
In the 'Device Manager' I've got a question mark on "Network Controller" and on "SM channel".
I've tried to manually install Dell Wireless driver - no success.
Tried to set the laptop to ignore the Wireless switch through the BIOS - still havn't got any sign of Wireless adapter in Windows.
BTW - in the BIOS menu - I see "Dell Wireless" under "Wireless" property.

my boss has a vostro 1500 laptop and is constantly losing internet connection. Before losing connection, a little blue world shows up in front of the computer picture in the lower right hand corner and then says *limited access available*, then he can not connect at all. If he disconnects and then reconnects it works for a short period of time and then the cycle begins again. Recently, i was told it was a new router, so we replaced the old router and still having these issues,

I have a Dell Vostro laptop running windows 7. My ISP is a company called Scarlet which supply connection via an external modem complete with aerial. When I connect directly from the modem to the laptop via the modem it's fine. My problem is that I bought an Advantek wireless router which a friend tried to install, I'm not sure if he was successful at any point as it was some time ago. However, I am now trying to set the wireless connection up so that I can surf on the laptop and my girlfriend on her ipad in separate rooms. I currently haven't got as far as getting the laptop to work along with the modem and router, I think there may be an IP conflict. i want wireless router to work with an external wireless connection via my ISP?

I'm having the same problem with my Dell Vostro 230 Win7 64-bit Home Premium. Until recently everything was fine but now there is an excellent connection with my new TP-Link TL-WR940N wireless N router but no internet access. The TP-Link router replace a D-Link DIR-655 wireless router which I thought was the problem. I have internet access within Safe mode with networking. Disabling Microsoft security essentials makes no difference nor does removing and re-establishing the network profile. I have internet access via the wireless router and an Android tablet as well as internet access via the wireless router and an internet radio. I suspect there is a (relatively new) configuration problem with the Vostro 230.

I've a Dell VOSTRO 1710. When I use an ethernet connection with my router, there is no problem. But when I try to have a wireless connection, all the wireless network of mine and of my neighbors are recognized, my WPA password too. Vista (32 bits) says I am connected but, when I try to reach a page on the web, get my e-mails or even ping an IP, I get no response. Note that I have other devices connected to that router which works without problem. I thought it was the driver of my Wifi card (Intel 4965agn) that does not work. Thus, I try to update (and even downgrade) them from Intel® Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN - Download Center. Nevertheless, it does not work. Note that it worked one week ago. The problem has suddenly appeared.

I would like to connect my playstation 3 to the internet from my laptop which is connected to a guest network (college dorm: I don't have access to a network key - I use my student ID and password at the launch of the browser to access the internet). Is there any way to do this? I have a Dell inspiron 1500 with Windows 7. Basically, what I would like to do is support my ps3 internet connection using my guest network connection from my laptop by running an ethernet cable from the laptop to my playstation.

I was wondering what I need to do to get the Dell Wireless Utility to recognize my MPI350 as a wireless networking device that need to be controlled.
FYI...I do have the card working using the Cisco's Airnet Utility but my work requires us to use the Dell utility for security purposes.
Also, when I view the wireless utility it says No Adapters on the tab.

But the next day it has the same problem.Tried uninstalling and reinstalling drivers.Switching off all antivirus and firewall settings

I own a Dell Studio 1747, i7, 8GB, etc.It has a DW1520 Wireless-N half-mini card.Yesterday I encountered a problem with my wireless adapter when it stopped recognizing my home network (wireless), although it did recognize other networks as the neighbors.I did every reasonable step while trying to restart the router, then disable and enable wireless, then restarted the laptop.Nothing worked and it could not recognize the network nor to connect to it as a hidden network. After taking a (not so good) advise from a friend, I cleared the wireless network list and then uninstalled the adapter from the device manager.I then restarted again and counted on the Windows 7 (home, 64 bit) to re-install the adapter.
Since then I'm experiencing bigger trouble when I probably missed a driver or a device.I tried to download and install the drivers for the adapter from Dell's size and got "R249128.exe", then installed it. Still no change.I cannot enable the wireless connection at all and when doing a diagnose to the "Wireless Network Connection" I get the message: "There might be a problem with the driver for the wireless network connection adapter".Since I am clueless now, although I do plan to check with a Linux boot cd that the adapter is working.

I have recently reinstalled the Vista 32 bit OS on my Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop. The wireless card installed is a Dell 1395 WLAN mini card. I checked and the card and it is enabled. If I connect the internet cable it works. When I search for a wireless network, none appear even though other computers are accesing the router that is next to the computer.
I have completed all of my windows updates and have tried to download the driver, but cannot find the one for the Vista 32 OS for Inspiron 1525.Dell Inspiron 1525 service tag # <ADMIN NOTE: Service tag removed per privacy policy.

I bought one from outlet. It has WiMax as an option. It seems it has WiMax, but I can' see any wifi device in Device manager. It is ridiculous. I surprised so I checked my order confirmation e-mail again and again, but it reads "Intel Centrino Advanced-N + WiMAX 6150", not WiMax only.

I have a dell laptop and its operating on Windows XP,I have followed several options from researching on the internet on how to fix the problem but nothing has worked so far. I am NOT computer whiz by far,I just know basic stuff. It shows its connected to my wireless modem but it keeps saying "AQUIRING IP ADDRESS", the address is saying "O". There are no numbers when I place the mouse over it. I went to the properties and advanced settings and changed the WINS. I tried restoring my computer to the earliest setting I could.

Bought a Vostro 220S about 2 months ago. After about three weeks, while I'm using it, the integrated NIC dies. All of a sudden I get the "Network Cable Disconnected" pop-up. No LEDs lit by the network jack. Contact Dell support who decides it's the motherboard.Three days later, the exact same failure. Contact support again. This time they want me to re-install Windows (yeah...right). I refused since the motherboard fixed it the first time. They finally agree to replace the motherboard again. Using the same router and cable that worked for years with my old computer. After the first failure, I switched ports on the router. While waiting for the motherboard replacements, I had installed an old PCI NIC I had laying around. Worked fine...still is. I'm not about to re-install Windows, which is what I know they'll want. I'll stick with the PCI card. Both of the people at Dell support as well as the tech they sent out told me they've not seen this before.

I recently received the blue screen and had to do a clean install of Windows XP on my Dell Vostro 1520. I then proceeded to install the Dell drivers and downloads in the order according to Dell's website. But the wireless driver continually gave me a Setup.rul 380 error, so I did a manual install of that. Unfortunately something is still incorrect. The internet connects, but the wireless icon at the bottom has a pop that says "Adapter Problem. Driver is not installed." I don't know a lot about computers and I'm not sure if I did something wrong, but I can't figure this one out.
