Aug 25, 2011I have a Dell Vostro laptop running windows 7. My ISP is a company called Scarlet which supply connection via an external modem complete with aerial. When I connect directly from the modem to the laptop via the modem it's fine. My problem is that I bought an Advantek wireless router which a friend tried to install, I'm not sure if he was successful at any point as it was some time ago. However, I am now trying to set the wireless connection up so that I can surf on the laptop and my girlfriend on her ipad in separate rooms. I currently haven't got as far as getting the laptop to work along with the modem and router, I think there may be an IP conflict. i want wireless router to work with an external wireless connection via my ISP?

Aug 14, 2012I bought a Netgear wnr2000v3 about a year ago and everything was running fine for months. There are 8 devices connected to the router, 3 directly connected, 2 over wifi and 3 passing a switch.
Now, since approx. a month, it happens like once a week that the connection to the modem crashes and I'm unable to access the internet for about 3-4 hours anymore. I'm still able to connect to the router, where it is stated that there's no internet connection. When I connect a pc directly to the modem, everything is fine, so there doesn't seem to be any problems with my ISP.
I updated to the last firmware, tried it out with only 1 device connected to the router, reset factory defaults, rebuilt the physical setup.. Is there a way to gain access to internal log files?

Sep 14, 2012I have a Dell Vostro 3300 laptop with Windows 7 and ran a Kaspersky Virus Scan which deleted virus' and trojan programs but now my computer says there are 'no connections available'....my WiFi is definitely working as I am able to connect on my phone and other laptop.I have checked my network adapters on Device Manager and they have a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark, including 'DW1501 Wireless-N WLAN Half-Mini Card'. I have checked whether the drivers are up to date and it says they are.

Jul 5, 2013I had bought this Vostro 5460 less than 2 weeks, and while i try to connect my mobile via bluetooth to the laptop, i get error message unable to connect shown in my mobile. I did try to paired the laptop and mobile devices, after i key in the same code in my mobile when i got the pairing request from the laptop, its successful to paired but failed to connect. I can see my mobile device shown on my PC Setting (Devices). I am able to send file from the laptop to mobile, but i am not able to send file from the mobile to laptop as its keep showing "unable to connect".
FYI, due to space bar and touch pad issue, i had requested to change the keyboard. Hence, all the parts had been taken out and re-installed before.
Dell Vostro 1400 Laptop Unable To Use Wireless Internet?
Jun 11, 2011Today after I restarted my laptop (Dell vostro 1400 running windows), I found that I can't open any pages or sites. My wireless utility icon tells me that my laptop is connected to my router, but neither of my browsers (chrome or firefox) will load anything. However, if I turn off my wireless (there's a switch that I can trigger) and try to load a page immediately after turning it back on, then a page will load, though anything after that will not. I'm positive that it's not my router or my internet because my computer and iPod touch connect perfectly fine, it's just my laptop will not.I thought that I might have accidentally gotten malware so I ran malwarebytes in safe mode and it found one Trojan, which I removed afterwards, though I don't remember what it's name or type was. I restarted my laptop afterwards hoping that removing the Trojan would work but I'm still having the same problem.

However, i can connect to it through wired connection. Others in my apartment can connect to the router. They dont have windows 7 (they use vista, ubuntu). Its working fine for them. I have tried many things like updating the router, disabling firewall, changing wireless security settings, updating windows but none of them seem to work. My friend who has the same laptop also cant connect when I cant. As soon as my connection is disconnected, his also disconnects.

Feb 22, 2009I've had my Vostro 1000 Laptop for almost a year now. I had to reload the O/S. I put all the CDs in and downloaded all the drives, but now I don't show the WLAN card/connection.. nothing.
I can't connect to the internet and when Iook at the network adapters it only shoes the Broadcom 440x 10/100 intergrated controller.. My modem is only showing Conexant HDA D330 MDC v.92 modem.
I had the internal wireless with my laptop when it was given to me as a gift... and have been able to connect via wifi, etc.. but since reloading the O/S and all drivers, etc.. I don't have internet? Can't find this wireless connection?

Sep 18, 2011I have a dell vostro 3400, and I can connect to any wifi network, and while other computers can get internet through them, I can only get limited access. Also, I am running connectify(internet sharing program), a virtual wifi router and I can connect devices to it, but they cannot get internet through it (even when my laptop gets it through Ethernet). Is this a hardware problem? Software, OS? I've had the comp for over a year and it's always worked perfectly.

May 4, 2012I have a Dell Vostro 460 with 4GB RAM running the latest version of Windows 7 Professional (64-bit). So far it’s been ultra-reliable. It, and two other laptops, are connected via network cables to a D-Link wireless ADSL modem/router (DSL-G604T).
However, during the last three weeks when I wake up the computer from hibernation, I am unable to connect to the Internet. The network connection icon states “Not connected. No connections are available”.
The only way I can resume my Internet access is to either re-boot the computer or, more often, turn the computer off and then turn it on again. Sometime the re-booting or switching off and on takes several attempts until the computer re-connects to the Internet. Today, it took 20 re-starts!I also have a netbook which connects to the Internet and my brother’s computer also has no trouble connecting to the Internet using the same modem.

Until recently everything was fine but now there is an excellent connection with my new TP-Link TL-WR940N wireless N router but no internet access. The TP-Link router replace a D-Link DIR-655 wireless router which I thought was the problem. I have internet access within Safe mode with networking. Disabling Microsoft security essentials makes no difference nor does removing and re-establishing the network profile. I have internet access via the wireless router and an Android tablet as well as internet access via the wireless router and an internet radio. I suspect there is a (relatively new) configuration problem with the Vostro 230.

Now is there anyway to block certian websites to this IP only?can't with laptop but can with the ipod via facebook. May 29, 2012I also am using a Dell Inspiron N5010 with Windows 7 and have trouble connecting to Netgear WNR 1000. I have an Apple that has no trouble making that connection. I have spent over $100 to a local computer repair company trying unsuccessfully trying to fix the problem and $129 to Dell Technical Services with equal lack of success and then was told by a technical support person that they had fixed it, that they would not provide futher work to fix it. The fact is that the error occurred again immediately the moment the Dell technician hung up. I spent the following day just running internet on a cable connection for about 8 hoooting.ble shurs trouble free and then switched it to wireless, which failed in about 10 minutes as my own troubleshooting. This made it clear to me that the problem was only in the wireless connection.
They problem is the Blue Screen error time message that pops up at random times any time the computer is operating on wireless. At other timerred again immediatelyre occuthe failuat s it operates normally. The Blue screen error causes the computer to shut down and restart. The only solution I have found is to return the Netgear router to the store where I bought it (within 30 days of purchase) and pay the additional cost of a different router.
Service personell should at least be kept aware or incompatibilites, explained or unexplained, between particular router models and particular computer models so as to save this waste of time and money. I have lost about 3 weeks of useful time on this computer in addition to over $200 in direct costs attempting to find a fix.

Nov 11, 2008i have re-installed windows xp in my laptop Dell Vostro 1400. it came with Vista but i have formatted and installed registered xp in it. when i installed WiFi driver in it (downloaded form Dell site), the driver works fine but because of this driver my machine gets stuck right after startup (when its shows the desktop). i was thinking that maybe its windows defect but now i came to know that when i uninstall the driver, it dont stuck.. i have tried a lot of drivers from Dell site. specifically for this model.

When I use a port tester it still says "Port 5060 is closed"I have also turned off Windows Firewall. What else could be blocking these ports?

Nov 13, 2012I'm using a Dell Vostro, running Win Vista with all updates. I have Trend Micro Titanium and Comodo Firewall. I primarily use Firefox (completely updated) but also have IE 9. Until a few days ago I regularly connected to various public WIFIs, by: connecting to the WIFI network, opening Firefox which would then automatically take me the network's (Panera for example) user agreement page, clicking on "I accept" or "I agree" then gaining access to the internet. Two days ago I was at a local establishment where I have connected before. I connected to their network and opened Firefox as usual. Instead of connecting to their user agreement page as usual, Firefox tried to connect to my homepage (Washington Post) and failed.
The network icon in the sys tray showed I was connected to the local network but with local access only. This has now happened three times in three different public locations over the past 2 days. Each time I've successfully connect to the network but when opening Firefox or IE9 I am not directed to the user agreement page and therefore am not gaining access to the internet.Normally in the past once I had connected to the local network and opened my browser Comodo would open a warning window asking me if I wished to continue. This also is no longer happening as Comodo is not detecting me being connected to the internet, I'm sure.

Jun 2, 2011I recently purchased and successfully installed a NetGear N600 dual band router (WNDR3400). My desktop has no connection issues. My iPod Touch has no issues connecting to the wireless network. However, my phone (HTC Aria), my work computer (Dell Latitude D630 Win XP) and my brand new HP Slate 500 (Win 7 Pro) cannot connect to the network. The network is discoverable by all the devices but the 3 cannot connect. I removed all security and still was not able to connect.
I reinstalled the router and still not able to connect. I restarted the router and still not able to connect. The Dell did previously connect to unsecured networks in my neighborhood but does not seem to like my newly set-up network. I am most surprised that the Slate is unable to connect to the wireless network. I would think something brand new would like that would not have an issue. If I cannot get my wireless router working properly and my other computers able to connect to it, it makes them all pretty useless.

I also tried some old Windows 7 drivers with and without "compatibility Mode" but still not working. I should also mention that when I connect to the internet through Ethernet, I get the full speed.

Uninstalled/Reinstalled the driver - I have an Intel 5100 AGN wireless driver installed. I disabled and enabled it. Didn't work. Running command prompt and typing in ipconfig /all doesn't detect my adapter device.
I also did these by running command prompt as an administrator: [code] and restarted my computer. I have a Dell Studio 1555 with Win 7 (32-bit) Professional. I know this is a problem with my Windows as the wireless works seamlessly in my Ubuntu.
