Netgear Wnr2000v3 - How To Block Certain Sites

Sep 20, 2012

I am trying to filter her website visits. I have a list of sites blocked at the router, but sometimes the ipod gets around this. I set the ipod to a static ip. Now is there anyway to block certian websites to this IP only?can't with laptop but can with the ipod via facebook. I thought I read someplace that you can block sites to a users static ip or mac address. I haven't been able to find it in my router settings. Im using a netgear wnr2000v3.

Netgear Wnr2000v3 No Internet Connection

Aug 14, 2012

I bought a Netgear wnr2000v3 about a year ago and everything was running fine for months. There are 8 devices connected to the router, 3 directly connected, 2 over wifi and 3 passing a switch.

Now, since approx. a month, it happens like once a week that the connection to the modem crashes and I'm unable to access the internet for about 3-4 hours anymore. I'm still able to connect to the router, where it is stated that there's no internet connection. When I connect a pc directly to the modem, everything is fine, so there doesn't seem to be any problems with my ISP.

I updated to the last firmware, tried it out with only 1 device connected to the router, reset factory defaults, rebuilt the physical setup.. Is there a way to gain access to internal log files?

When I use a port tester it still says "Port 5060 is closed"I have also turned off Windows Firewall. What else could be blocking these ports?

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT54GL - Block Sites Like Facebook During Workday But Allow Internet?

Jan 15, 2013

I want to block sites like facebook during my workday but allow the rest of the internet.

The attached settings block facebook as desired during the filter times but after 6:30pm the filter expires and the entire internet is blocked (not just facebook). All of my browsers act as if they are hanging and won't load pages until I disable the filter.

I've also tried creating two different filters (one at a time). The first allowed full internet access all the time and the second allowed access the opposite times of the work filter. But to no avail.

The options in the router have QoS but nothing to actually limit torrents or control bandwidth.I have looked at using dd-wrt, as i think you can block torrents on that, but my model doesnt seem to be supported. There was another custom firmware called ModFs but im not sure what thats like.

Cannot Access Any Other Web Sites

Sep 3, 2012

I am going to hook my laptop directly up to my wireless router via ethernet. I will be showing them security, SSID, etc. My issue is when I put in my WAN and LAN settings. What exactly is the difference between a WAN address and a LAN address.I kept my Lan address that same as the router. 198.162.1.1.I create WAN addresses as 198.162.128.45 with subnet mask as 255.255.255.000 abut not sure what to put in for my gateway. Logic say 198.162.128. 1; however that doesn't work.I then configured my tcp/ip to reflect this. Although I can always access my router website, I cannot access any other web sites.

Some Sites Available Only Through Proxy?

Nov 1, 2011

I have recently been having a very annoying problem with my internet connection. I am not able to connect to some websites: the sites that are unavailable can not be accessed on any device connected to my home network (wireless or plugged directly into the router). I know that the problem does not lie with the sites themselves, since they are working for other people, and I know the sites are not blocking my IP, because when I reset the router, the problem sites become accessible but other sites become inaccessible (on all devices). The problem isn't the router either: I've tried two, and the same problem has arisen with both. Moreover, I have established that the problem does not lie with DNS resolution. I have repeatedly flushed the DNS cache; DNS lookups work fine on the problem sites, but when I ping the given IP addresses I am getting some packet loss (not necessarily 100% loss). When I use a proxy, I can access the sites without any problem.

Certain Sites Won't Open?

Apr 3, 2012

For a few weeks now, I couldn't open any long links on Twitter. I can only open short links which can be highlighted, then right-click and "switch to 'website'". For example, I can open this link, because it's short enough to highlight the whole thing and then rightclick:It opens like that because it directly goes to that website without going through the shortened link first. When there's a long link like this one it won't open, just bring me to a page which says:"Oops, Google Chrome couldn't find t.co"This was mainly on Twitter, but now I found out that none of the shortened links like bit.ly, etc work either.
