I recently purchased an E-2500, but notice that in parental controls I can only block 6 or 8 websites. In my WRT54GS I could just create additional rules and they would work. But in this device I am limited on the sites that can be blocked per device. How I can block additional sites?

The attached settings block facebook as desired during the filter times but after 6:30pm the filter expires and the entire internet is blocked (not just facebook). All of my browsers act as if they are hanging and won't load pages until I disable the filter.
I've also tried creating two different filters (one at a time). The first allowed full internet access all the time and the second allowed access the opposite times of the work filter. But to no avail.
how do I block IP/Internet Adresses for ALL users without adding the sites manually per user in the Parental Control panel? I want to block a certain IP/internet adress for all users but can't find this feature within my EA6500 anywhere?Is this a firmware bug? Has linskys forgotten that some sites want to blocked for all users and how do I do it all in one?

Everything was working fine until today. I changed my Access Restriction password....and then discovered that I cannot 'Add' another device. The button is completely grayed out. I have other computers running on the network that are not in the Access Restriction list...so I should be able to click on 'Add' and select a device....
I can continue to edit the Access Restriction permissions for those devicescurrently in the list...but just cant Add any other device...

View 14 Replies View RelatedI have AT&T Uverse which provides Internet for my home. The wireless capability of this router is pretty bad, I don't get good/reliable wireless reception upstairs in my office. The solution was to buy a Cisco E2500 and add it as an access point upstairs.
I have the E2500 LAN port connected to the LAN port of my uverse router downstairs. DHCP is turned off on the E2500. I have my office PC wired into the E2500. The home PC works fine, its getting DHCP from the uverse router downstairs and connects and good speeds. The problem comes with my wireless devices trying to connect to the E2500.
I should mention that yesterday when i bought this, all worked fine. This morning when I came into my office none of the wireless devices would connect to the E2500 at all. But as soon as I remove the cable that connects the E2500 to the uverse router downstairs they will connect via wireless but of course not get an IP address since that is disabled.
I have factory reset the E2500 and uverse router several times and am getting no where. what could be causing the wireless devices to not connect at all?
I just moved into a new place with a DSL modem and am using the connection from the old tenant until my internet gets set up a while from now. I can plug the ethernet straight from the modem into either my laptop or desktop, and it works perfectly fine. But when I plug into my LinkSys 2500 router, it can't connect. I've tried rebooting the router, the router and the modem, plugging the modem back in first, plugging the router back in first. Nothing. But all I have to do is pull the ethernet cable from the internet port and click it into my laptop, and voila! internet. My name isn't on the account so I can't call the ISP and see if there are any special connection instructions, but I suspect there aren't any based on just being able to plug a computer straight into it.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI could not log into any of the 4 FTP sites that I normally update without immediately getting disconnected. The message I am getting from the servers is "Port command failed, error loading directory - disconnected". To save some time and posts, here are the facts....1.) It is definately not my DSL modem. When I connect directly with the modem, without a router, I can connect to FTP fine2.) I have already done a /flushdns in IPconfig.3.) I have already done the typical power off/power on/reboot procedure numerous times.4.) I have already tried PASV mode, and tried turning PASV mode off as well.5.) My login information is correct, and I have problems on multiple sites.6.) This problem has been reported before by other users of WRT54G, but the other forums I see have no solution to the problem.7.) I have already tried using other PC's and different FTP clients on my home network. No matter which PC or laptop I use behind the router firewall, I can't maintain FTP connection. 8.) I have never had to open ports to be able to connect to FTP, since I am the one doing the request. I did also try opening ports 20 and 21. 9.) XP firewall is disabled. 10.) I have tried both ethernet ports on my PC. But then again, that is irrelevant because none of my other PC's which connect wirelessly, can connect either.

I use Google Chrome, and maybe 30-40% of the time when I try to go on the websites, Chrome gives me a warning that it is being redirected to a phishing site. I have tried this with other browsers too to the same effect. My router is secure. I have installed it in different locations as well (once in residence, once at home, to the same effect).

At first it seemed OK, but then I noted that I cannot open (or takes forever) many websites, in particular those requiring Adobe Flash Player to view. In addition, it appears that access IPv6 Internet or sites is impossible, even though IPv6 is enabled in the GUI. Is there anything I am missing in the configuration/set up of the router?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am on a 200GB/month 100mbit cable plan with Telstra, and we have a number of sites/servers which we can download from which do not count towards our monthly download limit. Normally there would be 3-4GB of usage per day which was 'unmetered' but since upgrading to the E4200 router, everything that should be 'unmetered' is not being recognised and is being counted towards my monthly download limit - in other words, all traffic through the router is counted as chargable downloads.
Im not sure how it all works, but the E4200 router is definitely blocking something out... if i plug directly into the modem or use my previous router (WRT160N) everything works perfectly.
Not too much networking savvy - but here goes. Want to use router as local lan - no wireless. When router is connected to laptop via RJ45 I loose my ability to connect to sites via browser. IPconfig shows wireless adapter at 192.168.1.3. When router is attached it's ip is 192.168.1.1. Disabled the wireless in the settings but no dice. When the router was used with DSL it was set at PPPoE but now that I'm just using it locally not sure whether it should be DHCP or Static or other.

The access restrictions let you type in a 'specific' URL, but using a generic domain name doesn't seem to work. I basically want to block all access to any URL that ends in .XXX.
