The last time I had to reconfigure the connections it took me hours!My son had to wipe his desktop clean and reinstall everything. Now when he tried to connect to the internet we can't get a connection at all. My desktop is still working fine as well as the wireless laptops.What do we have to do to get him reconnected?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am having problems connecting my PC (Win7) to my Router (Netgear DGN2000) via ethernet cable.Wi-fi is working fine but I want to speed up my connection using the PC's Gigabit port. Here are the problems:
- When connecting via wi-fi everything is fine
- When enabling my LAN WITH wi-fi still enabled I lose all internet connectivity
- When enabling my LAN and disabling wi-fi lose all internet connectivity

I have a WAG160N wireless gateway . Yesterday when i tried to power it on after a couple of seconds the power led was solid green and the Ethernet leds were blinking with no Ethernet cable attached to the router . The ethernet leds would keep blinking for minutes . I tried to use a screwdriver to do a hardware reset ( with power on ) and i noticed that the power led would start blinking green/red for minutes . I tried to use another wired router which i have for backup and it could connect to the internet normally without a problem.
What the green / red blinking power led means ( power led is green and then changes to red and then it starts over ) ?
Is it possible to set up additional PVC for IPTV on LinkSys x3000?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm using a refurbished WRT54G2 v1.5 router. I've had the router for two and a half years and have never had a problem. I recently unplugged my DSL modem and this router to move them, and when I plugged them in again, the router stopped picking up the internet signal from the DSL modem. I'm able to get internet when I hardwire directly to the modem though. I tried resetting the router and setting the router up from scratch again, but now I just get error 321 Ethernet cable not connected when I try and run the setup cd.

When i connect directly through the modem i see speeds of about 600mbps but when i connect through the router via an ethernet cable on an empty port on the back of my e4200 my speeds drop to about 180mbps. I expected a speed loss going through wireless but why i am experiencing a speed loss by using the ethernet as a passthrough? I thought the ethernet ports on the e4200 were gigabit and support up to 1000mbps?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Linksys WRT120N plugged directly into my cable modem upstairs, an 8 port switch plugged into it, an ethernet cable from it run downstairs in my house to another 8 port switch and a Linksys E4200 plugged into it. I want both routers to allow me to connect to the internet wirelessly if possible. I cannot even access the E4200 from a browser, because the IP adress 192.168.1.1 goes directly to the WRT120N.

Presently I am unable to bring up the web page ie...10.100.x.x for entering the id/pw to login. Router is setup with default settings. View 9 Replies View RelatedProblem: My PS3 displays An Ethernet cable is not connected almost immediately after logging in. I am connected through a Linksys E2000 router. If I reset the cable modem, it will work for 10-15 minutes until it errors out again. If I plug the PS3 directly into the cable modem, it works fine. I'm really confused. I do not believe it is the router, as my computer is also connected to the router, and works fine. My Touchpad is connected wirelessly and also works fine. I do not believe it is the PS3, because it works fine if I plug it directly into the cable modem. I tried switching to wireless and it finds a lot of other signals (including mine), but I have the same problem if I choose wireless.I first had this problem with a launch PS3 and a Netgear router after almost three years of no problems.

I want to create a DMZ by having a less sophisticated router connected to cable modem, which would have the webserver which contains no sensitive information, and then the EA3500 to which my laptops and desktops which contain sensitive information would connect to. View 1 Replies View RelatedAlthough I haven't looked through all the forum topics I couldn't find anything very similar to my situation. I have a rather large house and my modem/router (Netgear DGND3300 v2 due to DSL) is in the very corner. Given this most of the opposite corner of my house gets either poor or no connection; however, I do have an ethernet cable run across the house through the basement to my home theatre setup. This is where I encounter another problem, I need multiple devices to be connected via ethernet and I also need to have wireless in that same area. In my mind I picture myself connecting a second router to this ethernet cable through which I could have wired connections to all my devices, and a second router broadcasting wirelessly. I'm familiar with some types of wireless bridging, but I'd rather use more of a wired bridge concept if possible, but I've never really seen something like this. The question is, is this possible? Or, what is another possible way to achieve the same results? The only other thing I can think of is to run an ethernet hub from the original wired connection to my home theatre so I can connect multiple ethernet devices and run a separate wireless extender or something, but this just seems pricy.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've got a Cisco DPC3825 modem that I also use as a wifi router. Conntected to it I have 4 eithernet cables:
1. From PC to Router
2. From another PC to router
3. From TV to router
4. From a Dlink Powerline Adapter to Router.It took me a while to figure this out but when I unplug all the eithernet cables and plug back in #1 and #2 (from above) the internet works. When I plug back in #3 and #4, the internet dies. Meaning, I am connected to the network but not the internet. I've reset the modem, changed SSID and restarted the PC many times but still can't figure out this issue.
I have been using the E4200 for a few months now...and running access restrictions to cut down my kids internet hours.
Everything was working fine until today. I changed my Access Restriction password....and then discovered that I cannot 'Add' another device. The button is completely grayed out. I have other computers running on the network that are not in the Access Restriction list...so I should be able to click on 'Add' and select a device....
I can continue to edit the Access Restriction permissions for those devicescurrently in the list...but just cant Add any other device...
I recently purchased an E-2500, but notice that in parental controls I can only block 6 or 8 websites. In my WRT54GS I could just create additional rules and they would work. But in this device I am limited on the sites that can be blocked per device. How I can block additional sites?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have AT&T Uverse which provides Internet for my home. The wireless capability of this router is pretty bad, I don't get good/reliable wireless reception upstairs in my office. The solution was to buy a Cisco E2500 and add it as an access point upstairs.
I have the E2500 LAN port connected to the LAN port of my uverse router downstairs. DHCP is turned off on the E2500. I have my office PC wired into the E2500. The home PC works fine, its getting DHCP from the uverse router downstairs and connects and good speeds. The problem comes with my wireless devices trying to connect to the E2500.
I should mention that yesterday when i bought this, all worked fine. This morning when I came into my office none of the wireless devices would connect to the E2500 at all. But as soon as I remove the cable that connects the E2500 to the uverse router downstairs they will connect via wireless but of course not get an IP address since that is disabled.
I have factory reset the E2500 and uverse router several times and am getting no where. what could be causing the wireless devices to not connect at all?
What the heck is key renewal? And why does it change every 3600 seconds? Does that mean my password will change? If so how do I connect additional devices to my Wi-Fi after the 3600 seconds?

View 13 Replies View RelatedOur small business just moved into a new building and I am in charge of setting up the network infrastructure. I am not new to computers or networking but I have never had to deal with this set up before.
Our current set up.We have a cable modem from comcast that has the Coax cable connected to it.The modem has 4 ports on it. The ports are connected to a built in 24 port switch that was already in the building. The switch has it's ports connected to outlets in the walls. Currently we have 4 computers on our network and since the cable modem had 4 ports it worked fine.
What we need? We will have another person join our office so I will need to activate one additional port on the switch that already exists. However, since all 4 ports on the modem are already taken, I have no way to add an additional port. They also want us to get wifi in the building.How I think I have to solve the problem (most likely wrong).I have to get another switch (like 8 port) and connect the cable modem to the switch using a cross over cable (if there is no designated internet port). Since I have the modem connected to the switch, I will have to move the 3 remaining connections to the switch.
Then I connect the 4 remaining ports on the switch to the existing 24-port switch that is already there. I will use one of the outlets in the building to connect an AP for Wi-Fi for better signal. Currently the modem and switches are hidden in a closet away from the office space and would mess up the signal.
I have a D-link WBR-2310 wireless router connected to a ZyXEL P-600 series modem. Everything worked fine untill a couple days ago when I had a power surge; since then the wireless router won't show on the modem that the ethernet cable is plugged in, and I get no wireless or DSL internet. I called the internet service provider, and they told me to reset both the modem and the router, which I did and it worked fine for about an hour; then it didn't recognize the cable again. I thought maybe it was the ethernet cable itself so I bought a new one, and it didn't correct the problem. When I hook any of the cables up directly from the modem to the labtop or the pc the ethernet light comes on and I have internet connection again. Why doesn't my router recognize the cable?

We want to however connect 2 desktop pc's to the same network so that they have internet access also. These 2 desktops have been connected to the wireless router via wireless dongles, but due to some office arrangements we have to move them to a different office in the building where there is network ports available.I plugged in a D-Link 5-port Gigabit desktop switch to the network point in the office the 2 desktop pc's are moving to and tested it with my laptop (with wireless disabled) to see if everything is working.The LAN seems to be working fine, but when I want to connect to the internet.. it seems something is wrong.
View 1 Replies View RelatedHave had ADSL installed through a router, connected the wireless router and it works fine Have since connected the original router via -120mtrs of CAT5 cable to extend to the house. Connection through LAN is fine into desktop however the minute we try to connect an additional wireless router the connection fails. We have even put the LAN from the second Wireless into the desktop and there is no connectivity.We have had a technician come to sort the problem, they advise that they have no explanation as to why the LAN works from the distance but the wireless does not. They have suggested that we need to cut the CAT5 half way and put an antenna up to connect the two routers.
