Yesterday my main computer lost internet connectivity after avast! ran an antivirus scan and removed several viruses. I spent much of the day yesterday researching the possible problems and did not come up with any solutions.My computer's OS is vista, and the network status says it is, "Connected to identifying". If there is any additional information you will need, I will gladly provide.
View 14 RepliesI have an HP laptop (vista) and I can connect to the internet when I use the ethernet cable but when I don't have the ethernet in, it just says that it is an unidentified network and an only connect locally. I have run an ipconfig/all and this is what I get:

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've got a Cisco DPC3825 modem that I also use as a wifi router. Conntected to it I have 4 eithernet cables:
1. From PC to Router
2. From another PC to router
3. From TV to router
4. From a Dlink Powerline Adapter to Router.It took me a while to figure this out but when I unplug all the eithernet cables and plug back in #1 and #2 (from above) the internet works. When I plug back in #3 and #4, the internet dies. Meaning, I am connected to the network but not the internet. I've reset the modem, changed SSID and restarted the PC many times but still can't figure out this issue.

View 1 Replies View RelatedAlthough I haven't looked through all the forum topics I couldn't find anything very similar to my situation. I have a rather large house and my modem/router (Netgear DGND3300 v2 due to DSL) is in the very corner. Given this most of the opposite corner of my house gets either poor or no connection; however, I do have an ethernet cable run across the house through the basement to my home theatre setup. This is where I encounter another problem, I need multiple devices to be connected via ethernet and I also need to have wireless in that same area. In my mind I picture myself connecting a second router to this ethernet cable through which I could have wired connections to all my devices, and a second router broadcasting wirelessly. I'm familiar with some types of wireless bridging, but I'd rather use more of a wired bridge concept if possible, but I've never really seen something like this. The question is, is this possible? Or, what is another possible way to achieve the same results? The only other thing I can think of is to run an ethernet hub from the original wired connection to my home theatre so I can connect multiple ethernet devices and run a separate wireless extender or something, but this just seems pricy.

- When connecting via wi-fi everything is fine
- When enabling my LAN WITH wi-fi still enabled I lose all internet connectivity
- When enabling my LAN and disabling wi-fi lose all internet connectivity

Now I have a laptop with Windows Vista Home Premium. I was able to connect both of them using ethernet cross over cable and successfully enabled file sharing through Local Area Network. I just set up a linksys n900. On one of the laptops that have vista it doesn't connect to the internet. The odd thing is when I first hooked up up it seemed to work fine than a day later it just stopped. All other computers are fine and if I try to connect to another network it works fine. Just when I try my home network it has issues.

Do I have any other options of doing this, other than a wire from my rooter to my PC. Is there any other solution which enables me not have to plug into my rooter directly?? I believe there is a box the size of a power box in the back room for the Internet.All my other devices (MAC, iPod, Blueray Player) are able to recieve instant and unbelieveable internet connection except for my Dell. The thing is when i connect the modem to my laptop via ethernet cable internet works but not when i connect the cable to the router even though this worked before. actually a few hours before. so i dont know whats happened to my router since clearly the problem is in there. the modem has lights for PC Cable DATA and POWER. View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a desktop running windows XP Professional x32 SP3 and my network adapter is a Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller. The desktop is connected to the network with an ethernet cable.Up until yesterday the internet connectivity just stopped working. I am seeing a very low number of received packets as opposed to the high number when it was working. It is showing that it is connected to the network but I still can't access the internet. Also I should mention that the desktop is at work and it is connected to a DHCP server that assigns IP addresses. I have updated all the drivers and I have used Winsock Fix and Netsh but it still isn't working. However the weird thing is that if assign a static IP address to it...it works. But I can't do this because I am not suppose to hook it up to the ports assigned to the switch for static IP's. It has to be connected to the DHCP switch. Why does it work when assigned a static but not if it gets an IP assigned by the DHCP server or switch. Also even if I try to reset, renew or release the IP...when I connect again it still gives me the same IP. It wont change.

It worked fine this morning, however, when I turned my PC on a few hours ago it became very unstable. After it happens I have to reconnect to internet (it doesn't work all the time, I usually have to do it two times for it to work), and then again after a few minutes the connection dies. Tried restarting my computer, tried restarting the modem, tried the troubleshooting network thing (it keeps saying "Local Area Connection doesn't have a valid IP configuration", but gives no solution). View 9 Replies View RelatedIve been using an Ethernet cable to connect to the Internet for a while now, it was working fine up to yesterday where I left my desktop open for a few hours and came back to find that I have no Internet connection.
I used my laptop to test the cable out and it works fine, the wireless works fine too. There doesnt seem to be anything wrong with the modem since I still have Internet on the PS3. I used a different cable to test the modem again with my laptop and I had internet access. The desktop is still connected to the modem but it only gives me a network connection with no Internet.
I tried restarting the modem but it still wouldnt work and I also tried to disable then enable the connection.
Im using Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller with the latest driver.
