I have DOCSIS 3.0 modem and a Linksys E1000 wireless router with which I get reults from SpeedTest of 8.6 mps down, 1.57 mps up up from 15 mps service from cable provider. Connected to modem via ethernet cable produces 16.0 speeds. Do I need to upgrade the router or are my settings wrong?
View 1 RepliesI'm using a refurbished WRT54G2 v1.5 router. I've had the router for two and a half years and have never had a problem. I recently unplugged my DSL modem and this router to move them, and when I plugged them in again, the router stopped picking up the internet signal from the DSL modem. I'm able to get internet when I hardwire directly to the modem though. I tried resetting the router and setting the router up from scratch again, but now I just get error 321 Ethernet cable not connected when I try and run the setup cd.
View 6 Replies View RelatedProblem: My PS3 displays An Ethernet cable is not connected almost immediately after logging in. I am connected through a Linksys E2000 router. If I reset the cable modem, it will work for 10-15 minutes until it errors out again. If I plug the PS3 directly into the cable modem, it works fine. I'm really confused. I do not believe it is the router, as my computer is also connected to the router, and works fine. My Touchpad is connected wirelessly and also works fine. I do not believe it is the PS3, because it works fine if I plug it directly into the cable modem. I tried switching to wireless and it finds a lot of other signals (including mine), but I have the same problem if I choose wireless.I first had this problem with a launch PS3 and a Netgear router after almost three years of no problems.
View 8 Replies View RelatedA friend recently re-installed windows XP on their HP Laptop. They were connected wirelessly with a Linsys router (model wrt54g.1) and an RCA Cable Modem. The Cable ISP can ping the modem and gave me the IP address over the phone. I cannot ping the modem even when I take the router out of the loop. The network card (i1394) in the Laptop is functioning normally and I can see traffic on the modem (both the Cable Internet light and the PC activity light are flashing green) the ethernet port on the laptop is also flashing (amber). However I cannot reach the internet and cannot even ping the modem. The modem is brand new..

Presently I am unable to bring up the web page ie...10.100.x.x for entering the id/pw to login. Router is setup with default settings. Is there a setting that needs to be changed from the setup menu or this type of setup will not work with this router.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI was very happy working with my WRT610N connected to the ethernetport of my previous internet modem. Recently I had to switch to a new modem CISCO EPC3925. Unfortunately this combination does not work anymore. I don't get an internet connection on my WRT610N anymore. I therefore have to connect all computers (LAN and WIFI) to this EPC3925. Especially for the WIFI I'm not fully happy. My IPAD2 sometimes does not want to connect, a problem which never occurred when connecting to WRT610N.
I probably need to change a setting, but where? In the EPC3925 or in WRT610N?
I have a WRT54G v6 router and I am trying to get higher speeds from a wireless network, I have set up a dish and a cantenna and is going really well about 18-22dbi gain which is very noticeable but I have a question, does an ?Ethernet cable speeds up the transfers Like the Upload and download speeds will be faster? like a high speed cat7 or cat6 cable that can transfer data at much higher frequencies? I have cat 5 and get around 13Mbps, will cat 6 get me 16 or 17? or the router can't handle it?.Also another question is how can I make the gain on the dish higher?
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy Belkin F7D4301 Router has the fastest wireless speed of maybe 2MBps but wired with a cat5e cable to my asus laptop of almost 7MBps. I have a one smart TV, one blue ray, one roku, and a nexus 7 using the 2.4 channel.
My Wireless 2.4 settings are channel 11, Extension channel 7, Wireless mode N (have tried with just g and b, g, and n modes), Bandwidth 20/40, Protected mode on, QOS off.
I've talked to Belkin tech support, they are the ones who had me set up my 2.4 channel this way but my wireless speeds stay just under 2MBps, they just want to keep sending me the same model Router because they think each of the new ones they send me is defective.
Am I doing something wrong or is 2MBps the best wireless speed I'm going to get?
my linksys e1000 router compares pretty well to my modem when the Ethernet cable is hooked up. I get fast DL speeds above 50Mbps either way when the Ethernet cable is plugged into my computer. However, when I connect wirelessly, regardless of range I can't seem to DL any faster than 20Mbps. I went ahead and restored my factory defaults so that I could use Cicsco Connect and upgrade the firmware, but beyond that I don't know what settings to tweak.

I have a Linksys E1000 device that is connected to a DSL connection through a modem. I have a Laptop that is wirelessly connected to the router and a PC that is connected via cable. Lately, a problem started to occur where the router keeps losing the internet connection and Laptop tell me that it connected to the router but there in no internet access and the same thing happens to the PC, both disconnect at the same time. I called my ISP company when this happens and they told me that the connection is working fine and everything look ok from there. I connected my PC directly to the modem and it worked fine so problem is not from modem. When i go to the router settings at the moment this occurs, it shows that all IPs are 00000 and status is "Connecting" and then it connects and changes to "connected" and everything fine till like 15 minutes later where this happens again (sometimes, it actually disconnects again after like 15 seconds!). I took the router to the dealer and he examined it and told me there is nothing wrong but he updated the firmware and told me to try it but same thing so he exchanged it for a new one and problem is still there!

View 5 Replies View RelatedSo I have a Westell 7500 Modem/Router with Century Link DSL. I've been running a couple of laptops and my wifi enabled TV on the wireless. A few days ago I got a new desktop PC (Windows 7) and plugged the ethernet cable into it. Everything was great but the wireless was a bit slow for the TV so I plugged that in with an ethernet cable too. No problems for a few days. Today, we had a power blip and everything reset and I noticed that the internet light on the modem was solid red and I couldn't access the internet on any machine (ethernet or wifi). I called the ISP who said there was an outage in the area. A few hours later, solid green light on the modem BUT the TV (ethernet connected), my iphone, and my laptops could NOT connect, despite the network showing up with a full signal. Oddly, my new PC, connected via ethernet was fine so I played some Diablo (side note). Here's the deal: the new PC connects just fine but nothing else will. If I unplug the ethernet cable to the PC or disable the LAN connection, the red internet light appears on the modem. It seems as though the PC has hijacked the modem in some way. Even the TV won't connect with the ethernet cable. The only way the internet works now is if the modem is connected to the new PC. I've done all the resents - unplugged the modem and let it sit for 10-15 minutes, accessed the router settings, etc etc. Why would this start happening now after everything was working well for several days and how do I fix it? I need the wifi connection! Update: Plugged my Macbook Pro into the ethernet cable (took it out of new PC) and it works.

Yesterday when i tried to power it on after a couple of seconds the power led was solid green and the Ethernet leds were blinking with no Ethernet cable attached to the router . The ethernet leds would keep blinking for minutes . I tried to use a screwdriver to do a hardware reset ( with power on ) and i noticed that the power led would start blinking green/red for minutes . I tried to use another wired router which i have for backup and it could connect to the internet normally without a problem.
What the green / red blinking power led means ( power led is green and then changes to red and then it starts over ) ?
Running Windows 8--64 bit computer, with a SBV4200 Voice over IP cable Modem (Time-Warner Communications), in home network. Longstanding problem with Ethernet connected computer losing connectivity to E3200. Connectivity reestablished by powering down, cutting power to cable modem, computer, and E3200, and restarting. Other wireless connections (iphones, ipad, other dos -based laptops have no problems--never any loss of connectivity. Things I have done to date: removed Linksys E-series software and reloaded, updated drivers, changed all wiring to router, and checked IP addresses and they are different.

When I run a speed test on my comp I get 10-13 mbps download on average. Here's the issue, upon visiting my mothers house and running the same speed test I got very similar results. She is running a Lynksys G router on a DOCIS 2.0 cable modem with 12mps connection. My question is, how can this be so, am I at the limits of my comps g network card? as a disclaimer I would like to note I am connected to the G band on both routers.

WAG160N has MAC restrictions but MAC of WRT160N added, both in wireless and as a computer. Still won´t connect, gets to 85% in wireless connect mode then fails, gets to stage 4 of router recognition and fails, saying check cables. Cables changed to know working ones, still no success. Tried pinging 192.168.1.1 direct from computer with no success, no access to router log-in page at all. WAG 160N has no problems.

During the time I was out my brother said it hadn't worked for the 2 days. The modem works fine and all lights are green when my desktop is turned off or not connected. It even lets my brother use wireless on his laptop. However, when I turn on my computer or when I connect it to the modem with an ethernet cord, the DSL light will go red and not work.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI used to have this exact setup with 2 wrt610ns i believe was the model number, i have one at my house, connected to my dsl, and then another in my "man cave" connected by a approximately 250 foot buried outdoor cat6 cable, inside of conduit of course. Last week both routers along with my modem were fried during a storm, so now i rebuilt the network with 2 e4200s, i hooked everything up and b4 i even had a chance to set my network up like i had to do b4 (a 192.168.10.1 subnet in the mancave) everything was already getting internet, however i cannot access the web based setup for the 2nd router (mancave) the dhcp client table shows it with an address of 192.168.1.139. even if i disconnect, reset the 2nd router and set it up on a 192.168.10.1 address as soon as i connect it to the main router, it goes right back to the .1.139 ip address. the only problem i have with this is that i would like to have the freedom to change my wifi passwords or edit other settings on my network without having to disconnect from the main router everytime, assuming that will work and i wont have to do a hard reset in order to get the router back to a default ip. the cable connecting the 2 routers goes from a lan port on the 1st router to the internet port on the 2nd.

It changes each time i reset it when i set it to bridged only mode but then i won't be able to connect other devices to it since it doesn't uses DHCP in bridged only mode. It changes back to the IP i had when i set it to router mode. I don't want to change my router settings to bridged only because it would disconnect the other devices in my house. Why my ISP assigns the same IP address when it's set to router mode but assigns different IPs when it's set to bridged only, how is this possible ?

When i connect directly through the modem i see speeds of about 600mbps but when i connect through the router via an ethernet cable on an empty port on the back of my e4200 my speeds drop to about 180mbps. I expected a speed loss going through wireless but why i am experiencing a speed loss by using the ethernet as a passthrough? I thought the ethernet ports on the e4200 were gigabit and support up to 1000mbps?
