Netgear 600 Dual Band Router Connected To A DOCIS 3.0 Cable Modem - Downloading Speed Is Slow?

Mar 25, 2011

I have a Netgear 600 dual band router connected to a DOCIS 3.0 cable modem with a 25mps internet connection from my ISP, should be fast right? When I run a speed test on my comp I get 10-13 mbps download on average. Here's the issue, upon visiting my mothers house and running the same speed test I got very similar results. She is running a Lynksys G router on a DOCIS 2.0 cable modem with 12mps connection. My question is, how can this be so, am I at the limits of my comps g network card? as a disclaimer I would like to note I am connected to the G band on both routers.

Slow Wired Connection On Netgear N600 WNDR3700v1 Dual Band Gigabit Router?

Aug 6, 2012

I have a Netgear N600 WNDR3700v1 Dual Band Gigabit router and am having a problem with the wired connection with my PC. Everything wireless in the house works fine. In fact, I also have a Direct TV box hooked up for on demand and a sling box hooked up (both wired) and they work find. It's just my PC that is having issues. If I bypass the router and hook straight into the modem, it runs fine also so I have something going on between the router and this PC. I updated the NIC driver and this did not work. Before the update in the device manager, it said it was a NIVIDA nForce Network Controller (if I remember right) and now it says NIVIDA nForce 10/100 Mpbs Ethernet. It was suggested that I change my speed and duplex to match the router after I update but I am unsure what to change it to.

TP-Link Dual-Band Wireless :: Slow Speed On WDR4300

Nov 6, 2012

Region : Denmark
Model : TL-WDR4300
Hardware Version : V1
Firmware Version : 3.13.23 Build 120810 Rel.44064n
ISP : Arrownet

I purchased a WDR4300 yesterday and have set it up. The internet is running smoothly although the transfer speed is rather slow. When transferring from my computer to my Seagate GoFlex Home i get about 6 - 8 mbps with Wireless N. The router is set to only use Wireless-N and my laptop has the latest drivers. I have also tried other computers in the house and the speed is the same. The GoFlex Home is connected to the router via a LAN cable. Prior to updating i used a Linksys WRT54GL and managed speeds of about 3 or 4 mbps over its G only connection. As for transfers between 2 computes the rate is about 1 - 3 mbps

As for distance the Wireless router is only about 1.5 meters from the laptop (across the room) with nothing in between them to cause interference. I have also checked what channels my neighbors use (using inSSIDer) and picked 13 as there is only 1 other person nearby on that channel and they are quite far away.

On speed test makes 14 - 17 Mbps download, which is normal. When I try to download something on my PC maximum speed is 400 - 600 kbps, on speed test is 2 - 4 Mbps. When I connect my PC with cable to my router speed was 10MB/s (80 - 85 Mbps). I try to change channels on wireless network, but there is no change. I downloaded the latest drivers for this WLAN, but the speed is the same. I change the slot on the mainboard and to flash the firmware on my router, but there is no change.

Netgear WNR3500L - Dual Band Home-use AP

I currently have a NetGear WNR3500L running Tomato acting as an access point. Unfortunately, I think it's crapping out on me... Currently, there are two WiFi security cameras streaming through it to a surveillance server 24/7, and even though it is in a central location in my condo, I get shit signal ~25 feet away (and that's after cranking up the wifi radio to 60mw).

802.11n is a must, and dual SSID's would be nice too... dual band would be totally awesome but not that necessary (I still have some legacy hardware running on G...).

Upload Speeds Extremely Slow Using Netgear FVS336G Dual WAN Router On Comcast

May 22, 2011

Download speeds, per speedtest.net and speakeasy, are about 20mbps.When the speed test gets to the upload part, it usually hangs or takes a long time before giving me a result of about 0.04mbps. Basically, it's so slow, it sometimes just gives up and times out.This translates into a real shoddy internet experience because something as simple as choosing airline tickets requires your computer to "upload" your choices. And of course, if that doesn't happen within a certain amount of time... Timeout! I have tested the connection without my Netgear FVS336G Dual WAN router in the way and it is much better so I'm certain it's the router.When I tell the router to use WAN 2, which is where my AT&T DSL connection is on, the upload works just fine (about .4 mbps - I'm provisioned at 512kbps so it's fine).Also, this is the case on ALL computers on the network - wired, wireless, PC, Mac, iPhone, iPad, you name it. So, it's definitely not device specific.

TP-Link Dual-Band Wireless :: Interface Of TL-WDR4300 Is Slow

Feb 11, 2013

Region : Netherlands
Model : TL-WDR4300
Hardware Version : V1
Firmware Version : 121225
ISP : Online

Recently I replaced my Linksys WRT54G for a TP-Link WDR4300. But unfortunately this did not result in an increased speed.On both the 5GHz and 2.4GHz speed is limited to roughly 2.5-3 MByte/s, which is OK for watching movies etc. but I could reach those speeds with the 802.11g router as well!

I'm using the WDR4300 as access point, so I disabled DHCP server and NAT functionality, left the WAN port empty. And I set fixed IP in the subnet range of my modem/router. (horrible Speedtouch device). All works fine and stable, but too slow.

In the wireless settings I tried the 20 and 40MHz bandwith, disabled WMM, tried to lower the transmission power, tried to set a fixed channel. But all those changes do not have a significant influence on the transfer speed. (both on 2.4 and 5GHz) I'm the only 5GHz access point in my neighborhood, so interference cannot be a problem.
The clients indicate a link speed of 300mbps very close to the router, and this drops to indication of 54mbps further away, but effective link speed remains fairly constant (and stable!) (I find it strange that indicated link speed already drops at 3 meters with clear line of sight to the router)

I did the tests with fixed IPs on two laptops and no devices connected on the LAN ports, to rule out problems caused by the modem/router or other clients.The tests were done using a Lenovo x220 and Asus Zenbook, both with Intel dual band 802.11n wifi interfaces. The Lenovo reaches 22MByte/s via the Cisco access point at my work (with less signal as at home).

Write speed is about 3Mbytes/sec maximum.Real disk write speed is about 35-38Mbytes/sec - if I connect it to one of the PC USB ports (both router and PC ports are USB 2.0)Why write speed via router is so low?

My PC is connected to router via cable and is running Windows 7 32bit Ultimate SP1, hard disk partition is 465Gb NTFS single volume.I'm measuring speed simply by coping 1.4Gb file through Windows Explorer to \tplinklogin.net (following USB storage access instructions from router control panel) in first case and directly to hard disk - in second case.

TP-Link Dual-Band Wireless :: WDR3500 Tip To Increase Speed To Expected And Reasonable Value

Using a gigabyte router those values were 55.5 mb/s. Even though this router is only 10/100 that speed is unacceptable. Is there a tip to increase that speed to an expected and reasonable value?Also, the router just quit for no apparent reason and needed a reboot. What are common causes that I might look into to see why this happened.
