Maximum Transfer Speed On Concurrent Dual Band Routers?
Feb 19, 2012
i am going to purchase a Simultaneous Dual Band Router with Gigabit Lan. Can anybody tell me whats the transfer speed it got on Concurrent Dual Band 900(450+450) , 750(300+450) and 600(300+300). I am going to use it for hard drive that can network attached or may be just external hard drive via USB interface.
Was looking at purchasing WAP321 however after looking at the spec's I see it has not got concurrent dual band (2.45Ghz/5Ghz) is there any simular access points with dual band and captive portal?
We have a client that is looking to provide connectivity for up to 800 users at a conference. They have a SRP527W available to them. Looking at the configuration we have been able to provide the needed number of IP addresses through VLANs each with their own DHCP scope.
However we are doubtful that the router will be able to process such a high number of connections (NAT, Firewall etc.) even though they will be using a specialised application that pulls static content via WAN.
Thus far we have been told that the unit has supported 150 user no issue, my I am guessing anything over 200 and you would start to see stability issues?

wdr3500 problem with usb external hard drive when I try to transfer files from computer to usb on the router it'll work for small files like MP3. But files like MKV where they can be 1-2gb will cause a disconnect and fail to transfer the file. The whole drive would disconnect and windows will give an I/O error.

I purchased a WDR4300 yesterday and have set it up. The internet is running smoothly although the transfer speed is rather slow. When transferring from my computer to my Seagate GoFlex Home i get about 6 - 8 mbps with Wireless N. The router is set to only use Wireless-N and my laptop has the latest drivers. I have also tried other computers in the house and the speed is the same. The GoFlex Home is connected to the router via a LAN cable. Prior to updating i used a Linksys WRT54GL and managed speeds of about 3 or 4 mbps over its G only connection. As for transfers between 2 computes the rate is about 1 - 3 mbps
As for distance the Wireless router is only about 1.5 meters from the laptop (across the room) with nothing in between them to cause interference. I have also checked what channels my neighbors use (using inSSIDer) and picked 13 as there is only 1 other person nearby on that channel and they are quite far away.

I have portable hard disk connected to one of the TL-WDR3600 router usb ports (another one has printer connected to it)
Write speed is about 3Mbytes/sec maximum.Real disk write speed is about 35-38Mbytes/sec - if I connect it to one of the PC USB ports (both router and PC ports are USB 2.0)Why write speed via router is so low?
My PC is connected to router via cable and is running Windows 7 32bit Ultimate SP1, hard disk partition is 465Gb NTFS single volume.I'm measuring speed simply by coping 1.4Gb file through Windows Explorer to \tplinklogin.net (following USB storage access instructions from router control panel) in first case and directly to hard disk - in second case.

I have a WDR4300 which works perfect with all devices in my house, but in my personal notebook (samsung 530U4B) wireless transfer speed is very slow in 2.4 GHz mode. 5.0 ghz works fine. I've tried everything, but I can not get good performance. at this moment I have to use a 741nd working with my wdr4300 in wds mode to use 2.4 ghz band properly.

my Wi-fi card is an Intel Centrino 130N. When I connect to the Internet directly, the speeds I get are: DL: 11 MBs and UL: 9 MBs. (I know the difference between MB and Mbits). Although, when I'm connected through wireless, I get: DL: 3.4 MBs and UL: 4.7 MBs.how do I get my DL speed to be higher than the UL speed in wireless mode ? I read somewhere I have to disable QoS and WMM, but I simply can't find that option in the router's settings. even if I am in the same room as my router, when I check the status of the wireless connection, the maximum speed is 72 mbps. Should that be 130 mbps, as I run it in N mode, not G? How to improve that ? I have Win 7 and all the latest drivers and everything.
Set this up last night and it went very easy with the excellent instructions. Transfer rate from computer A to computer B (wired) of a 1 gb file was 12 mb/s and that was from SATA 3 to SATA 3 discs. Using a gigabyte router those values were 55.5 mb/s. Even though this router is only 10/100 that speed is unacceptable. Is there a tip to increase that speed to an expected and reasonable value? Also, the router just quit for no apparent reason and needed a reboot. What are common causes that I might look into to see why this happened.
What the maximum concurrent users you can have on a Cisco 3925 for :-
1) Site to Site VPN using IPSEC tunnels 2) GRE tunnel sIf I have 90 users on a single GRE tunnel with 50mb Internet pipe using fat clients will this work ?
I have a Netgear 600 dual band router connected to a DOCIS 3.0 cable modem with a 25mps internet connection from my ISP, should be fast right? When I run a speed test on my comp I get 10-13 mbps download on average. Here's the issue, upon visiting my mothers house and running the same speed test I got very similar results. She is running a Lynksys G router on a DOCIS 2.0 cable modem with 12mps connection. My question is, how can this be so, am I at the limits of my comps g network card? as a disclaimer I would like to note I am connected to the G band on both routers.
We are having random issues of users not being able to connect to our wireless network consistently. The users will have successfully accessed the network previously but then will have difficulty associating to the network. After a period of time, the association appears successful again. My first thoughts were that there was a restriction on the number of clients that could associate to a given AP at any one time. This is the equipment we have:1x Cisco Wireless Control Server (WCS) 6.0.181.04x Cisco 5508 Wireless LAN Controllers 6.0.196.060x Aironet 1142N Lightweight Access Points (LAP) Is there a hard or recommended maximum number of clients per LAP? If so, where is this defined? From what I have read on these forums, Cisco apparently recommends about 25 clients per AP but I can not find any official documentation to support this. When I go to WCS Home > General > Top APs by Client Count, the top AP reports 20 clients. However, if I click on the AP Name and go to the Current Associated Clients tab, it is only listing 8 clients - why is this?
I bought a new laptop today, unfortunately, it doesnt have a Firewire port and i want to use it for video editing. But i figured no problem really, i'll just capture on my desktop that i have been previously using to edit on, using Premiere pro to edit, but HDVsplit to capture, and then transfer the files over to the laptop using a USB or possibly trying to setup a home network. But when transferring files from the desktop onto the laptop via the router using ethernet cables, the speed is about 250 kb/s and when its the other way around, from the laptop to the desktop, the speed is 10 MB/s! I really need to find away to speed this up as the overall files i want to transfer are over 5GB.You can read a bit more about it here: [URL]
How do I utilize the dual band feature on my belkin N750 DB? Do I have to set up two separate networks? Even then how when my devices PC, iPod, gaming devices are only recognizing the 2.4GHz band network?
I have belkin n600 hd wireless dual band n router f7d8301 v1. do i need to do any firmware upgrade? should i down load and install V3 of firmware of V1 only? i want to increase / enhance the range of WiFi.

Am currently unstalling and reinstalling. The network is WEP with a long alpha numeric key, which was accepted and network detected and connected. No internet. No internet. No internet.
I have the new XBOX 360 black N wireless adapter and the Linksys E3000 dual band router as I want to upgrade the network range and speed to N. I set up a unique SSID and passphrase (WPA2) for both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands. My XBOX could connect to the 2.4GHz band network and could connect to XBOX Live. But when I configured all the settings and tried to connect to the 5GHz band network, but no luck. My XBOX just said it failed to connect. I was sure that I did type in the SSID and passphrase correctly. I still cannot figure out what went wrong. I even suspected either the wireless adapter or the router malfunctioned.
I have had the Netgear 3300 Dual Band for three years. Everytime I wanted to access using my laptop, I had to choose between 2.4G and 5G connection. For about a month now, the 5G does not show up. It doesn't show up as a network to select no matter what device I use. I have reset the router and updated the firmware. Both connection lights are blinking. I recently purchased and IPhone 4 and still I do not have the option of selecting 5G.

I'm using a WDR3600 router, and I'm having difficulty with getting internet access on the 5 GHz band. Right now the router is broadcasting in both 2.4 and 5 GHz as two separate APs. The 2.4 GHz band works perfectly fine, but when I connect to the 5 GHz band my device is not assigned an IP address and cannot connect to the internet (or even the router configuration page). Unfortunately, I don't have another device capable of accessing the 5 GHz band, so I can't check to see if the computer is at fault, but both the computer and the router have worked together with no problems before, and this computer has done fine in accessing other 5 GHz bands.
My new Windows 8 computer is not wi-fi capable, I bought the adapter but it only works with Windows 7, they have a link to upgrade to Windows 8 but I don't know where to go from there.
I have a computer connected to a Switch3750G and another computer connected to another Switch3750G. Theses switches are connected through a Optical Fiber link in the uplinks of the boths Switchs 3750. The computers are connected in the access ports, this ports works at 1Gbps. My question is Which is the maximum transfer rate that should reach between these two computers.
I've just connected via pppoe to a fibre 70/40mbs service but only get around 12mbs bandwidth. The FE4 interface reports running at 100mbs Full Duplex so was wondering if the dialer interface has some kind of limit around 12mbs?
If the router is limited to 10/12mbs of WAN throughout, any similar router with greater WAN throughput more suitable for a fibre service.
I have just bought a D-Link DWA-160 A2 network adapter and it is really slow.I have been using a D-Link DWA-125 N 150 A2 for a while now and it is faster, getting a higher signal. My new network adapter is suppose to be faster. The only thing I can think of is that the software coming with the adapter never installed. I get an error: Wireless adapter not found! insert the adapter now.Thing is, the driver is installed and I can surf the internet.I did some speedtest net tests and I see that my DWA-125 A2 is faster.
I am currently receiving 2.9 Meg download using my Intel 82578DC Gigabit though my Local area network can receive a maximum of 100 Mbps. I am with a network service provider that can give me a maximum of 38 Mbps. What defines the maximum speed I can download at if I am receiving 38Mbps from my supplier though my Network connection driver is only allowing me to download at 2.9Mbps?
