I have a Cisco 4200 Wireless Router connected directly to my cable modem. To extend the wireless range I purchased a Cisco 2500 Wireless Router. As the house is "wired," I can connect the Cisco 2500 to the cable modem in a room separate from the Cisco 4200. My question is how do I configure the Cisco 2500 to connect to the network and provide wireless coverage from both routers.
View 6 RepliesI just moved into a new place with a DSL modem and am using the connection from the old tenant until my internet gets set up a while from now. I can plug the ethernet straight from the modem into either my laptop or desktop, and it works perfectly fine. But when I plug into my LinkSys 2500 router, it can't connect. I've tried rebooting the router, the router and the modem, plugging the modem back in first, plugging the router back in first. Nothing. But all I have to do is pull the ethernet cable from the internet port and click it into my laptop, and voila! internet. My name isn't on the account so I can't call the ISP and see if there are any special connection instructions, but I suspect there aren't any based on just being able to plug a computer straight into it.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have had several Linksys and Cisco routers in the past, and I'm a network engineer. My E3000 died after only 18 months so I had to run down and buy a new router, thus the EA4500.
I use the manual way to configure all my network gear. Nothing on my network changed, except the router replacement.If I leave the router default address at the 192 range, DHCP will issue a IP address. However, I do not use that range and after cdhanging the range, setting my start IP address, etc, I save everything and even tried rebooting the router to no avail. The router will not issue a DHCP addrss if you change the default range.
I can manually configure my clients with a static IP and all is good, no issues at all. I just can't get DHCP to work. My E3000 was configured exactly the same way and worked just fine, well up until two days ago.I have tried upgrading to the latest router firmware, so I'm not on 2.0.37 and I did set the router back to Factory Defaults, rebooted, then configured it, and still no DCHP.
I have rather huge connection at home. DL speed 80Mb, UL speed 3Mb.When I connect my PC directly to modem and configure PPPoE connection, I get 81Mbits/sec. When I connect my old ASMAX $30 router, I get 78 Mbit/sek. And I find it OK.But when I connect my EA6500 I get 28 MBits/sec. Same result on wire as on wireless connection. Of course If I enable prioritisation, I get even less, 12-15 Mbits/sec.I tried already even configuration with ASMAX as wired router and EA6500 connected to its LAN port. It gives me 50Mbits/sec.

View 4 Replies View RelatedRecently, I have configured a small Wireless Network with Cisco 2500 WLC (25 AP License) running version 7.3.101.0 ,Total 15 APs were installed and associated with the Controller successfully.I have configured WLAN with WPA2-PSK.
I came across a strage issue, where all Android devices can't access Internet via Wireless.When I checked the Controller log, the Android devices (Phones, Tablets) are successfully authenticated and associated to the Wireless Network (They got the IP Address from the DHCP Server configured on the Switch) but they can't access internet.
There is no issue with Apple devices (IPhones, IPADs) and Wireless Laptops. Even the Apple devices and laptops getting IP Assigned from the Same DHCP pool configured on the Switch.
Any issue connecting just Android devices? All other devices connect fine.
Is there any limitation/configuration on the WLC which restricts the Internet Access only to the Android devices?
I am using the WAG-120 N as an AP and switch for 3 laptops and 2 desktops. Our department is assigned only one Static IP from our server, so only one pc can connect to the server and the internet. I use the first lan port of the Wag-120N as a WAN port and i assign the Static IP address there, along with the subnet, default gateway and DNS addresses. The connected clients are assigned then an ip address from the router's DHCP (192.168.1.10x), but cannot connect to the internet. How can i configure the router to allow the clients to connect?

The problem starts when trying to shut sown Win 7, when I try to power off the system, the little blue light flickers about 1/2 dozen times then goes Steady Blue and stays that way till it shuts off..I have to manully take it out of the USB port each time I shut down my PC or it will get really hot and Probably burn up. I have tried all the power options and that does nothing...This did not happen when I was running XP service pack 3 32 bit.
