Switched from a Netgear router to a Cisco E2500 and now my Samsung blue ray won't connect to internet.
It says physical connection established but can't connect to external network.
using a Linksys E2500. I have a Ubuntu "server" set up which i can access on my LAN through VNC Viewer (windows machines) no problem. I can even access it through the external IP address on a machine inside the LAN (both internal address and external address work from inside the LAN). I set up port forwarding (per portforward.com) but i still can not access my machine from outside the LAN. It has a static IP as well btw.

Everything works well except if for some reason my modem disconnects from ISP I can not log into it through the route to reconnect it. I must plug a direct cable into modem from computer run connect script then plug modem back into router all is fine again.

Is it possible to connect my WAP54G to my new E2500 router?
I previously had a WRT54G and had my WAP54G connected to it in AP Client mode. This enabled me to have internet access on my desktop computer that is located in another room downstairs.
I installed an e2500 to my cable modem and everything went perfect. Then 2 weeks later the electricity went off for some power company upgrades. when the power came back on the modem wouldnt connect. I have been through every solution in the cisco articles. The computer connects when directly wired to the modem, so I know there is signal. When I place the router into service and use the ethernet connection the modem no longer displays the active internet led. The e2500 ethernet led to the computer lights and the power led. The Ethernet led from the modem to the router doesn't light. I did a complete reset on the router. The setup software only runs to 75% complete then stops and tells me to check the plugs. Ive checked, replaced and swapped the cables. I've set the MAC to clone, and verified the MAC address via ipconfig. Ive done the complete powercycle at least 20 times.

But my 360 cannot connect to the 5ghz N, only 2.4ghz g. The wierd thing is that the 5ghz signal gives a better signal than the 2.4ghz.
I just found a thread on google talking about the e4200 and someone mentioned counterfit adapters and problems with them. I did buy this on ebay for a cheap price, so it looks like it was too good to be true. this is a counterfit? It does have a real hologram on it.

What should i do ? Reset ? How ? maybee i did not set the cable properly ( what is an ethernet cable ? ) the one i have is a short cable with what looks like telephone jacks at either ends. one end is plugged in my comcast modem and the other into my mini mac.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just bought an E2500 router. I have until now been using a Netgear DG834G v5.
I have tried multiple times but my success has been limited. I turned off DHCP in the Netgear, set the isp login question to no, and set it into bridge mode. I managed to use Cisco Connect to connect the Netgear and the E2500, but there was no internet.
I logged into the E2500 and entered by ISP details in the PPPOE section. I went to status and clicked connect, but a message would eventually pop up saying that an IP address could not be found. In the Netgear I could set up VPI and VCI etc manually, but can't find those settings in the E2500. My ISP also requires a dynamic IP - does this mean that DHCP must be off in both the Netgear and the E2500?
I factory reset the E2500 and tried Cisco Connect again, but it said that it couldn't find the device.

Internet still works. PC is connected directly to router. Tried different port on router. Tried installing CiscoConnect.E2500.1.4.11299.0,0, but it fails saying there is no router connected to PC. Like I said I am on the PC now, wired to router and have internet access via cable modem connected to router. I can see my ireless printer on the network also..
Ok group here's the issue. I have a E2500 router with a wired connection for my sons xbox and 2 laptops connected to it. The laptop I used to set-up the system will usually connect to the router but not allow me through to the internet then after a shutdown and repowering it connects. what to check? The othhitch. Both arer laptop connects without a e running vista home.

I am planning to set up a Wi-Fi network for a single story motel. It is C-shaped; about 300 feet along the longest side with "legs" of 120 and 70 feet.Until now I have only used that single WRT54g in the office for the entire property and it covers about half the property (left side.) My plan starts in the office (bottom left) with a WRT54g connected to the DSL modem as it always was. That would be connected to one of the E2500s in the middle so it can cover the most area. From there two others would shoot out to each corner (the other E2500 and the WAP54g). They will all be wired together with Cat 5e "riser cable". The routers will be placed in a wide open attic.
1. I have heard that N routers have a range of 150ft in every direction so that's why I'm putting one in the middle. Keep in mind that while the attic is open and wood constructed, the walls between rooms are concrete firewall and they haven't been wi-fi friendly.
2. Does starting with a B/G router at the modem mean the N routers will revert to B/G?
I have AT&T Uverse which provides Internet for my home. The wireless capability of this router is pretty bad, I don't get good/reliable wireless reception upstairs in my office. The solution was to buy a Cisco E2500 and add it as an access point upstairs.
I have the E2500 LAN port connected to the LAN port of my uverse router downstairs. DHCP is turned off on the E2500. I have my office PC wired into the E2500. The home PC works fine, its getting DHCP from the uverse router downstairs and connects and good speeds. The problem comes with my wireless devices trying to connect to the E2500.
I should mention that yesterday when i bought this, all worked fine. This morning when I came into my office none of the wireless devices would connect to the E2500 at all. But as soon as I remove the cable that connects the E2500 to the uverse router downstairs they will connect via wireless but of course not get an IP address since that is disabled.
I have factory reset the E2500 and uverse router several times and am getting no where. what could be causing the wireless devices to not connect at all?
I have a simple configuration. E2500 using 2.x ghz N-only configuration. The router in in my office. I want to extend the same network ssid by adding another router in the kitchen, on the other side of the house. I haven't purchased the other router yet

The 8 port hub is connected to a couple of computers and a xbox. I have the hub as a distro point to cut down on wiring. Wirelessly connected to the E2500 are a variety of laptops, netbooks, ipods, an ipad, a playbook, an iphone, a android phone, a wireless printer and a Ps3. Most of the devices are just using the wifi for internet access. Most devices have been setup with their own ip addresses to avoid ip conflicts. The computers and laptops/netbooks are running either Windows XP, Windows 7 or Mepis Linux. Up until now everything was going as good as can be expected, all the computers could see each other and most could transfer files between each other except when Windows gets picky.In the last few days no computers can see each other. Windows or Linux.Everything can accsess the internet and wirelessly print still just can't see each other. I reset the E2500. I updated the firmware on the E2500. I installed the Cisco Connect software (just in case I was too stupid too setup a router). Still nothing. I can ping other machines from a command prompt in windows or a terminal in Linux and get a good ping back. In the router setup via a browser I can go to the status page and see other devices on the local network but most are just ipods, ipad, playbook and the wireless printer, If I go to the administration page / diagnostics I can ping other computers and get a good answer. I just can see them from each other. I think I've rebooted every thing at least once. Yes the workgroup names are all the same (workgroup) and yes file sharing is turned on on all computers.

The network works fine, my laptop connects securely to it.
But when I View Available Wireless Networks , I see a second , unsecure network named "mynetwork-guest" to which my laptop will also connect with no credentials (not sure how that network got there).
How can I find and delete that unsecure network? When I go into my router setup, I only see mynetwork, not mynetwork-guest If it is of any use here is the IP information for both:

I have a Linksys WRT350N which I am trying to use an app on my iPhone to connect to my server using the public/external IP of my cable modem. I have the necessary ports opened and also tried adding the server to the DMZ but no matter what I can not get the app to connect to my server via my external IP when I am on my WiFi. I can connect without any problems if I use the NATed IP on the server when my phone is connected to the WiFi. It also works fine connecting to the external IP if I am on any other WiFi or the cellular network (which shows ports are forwarded correctly). I just can't connect to the server when I use the external IP and I am on my WiFi network. This is annoying as I need to keep changing the app's settings back and forth between the external and internal IP whenever I am home or away. I am left thinking this is some kind of issue with the WRT350N not allowing local internal traffic to reach the external IP. Any way to resolve this, maybe by entering a static route?

I have setup the Wireless guest Network for my downstairs Tenant while he is out of work so he can still have some internet. The problem however is that often the guest network will take up 90% of my 55mb/sec bandwidth, leaving none for the primary network. Is there a way for me to Throttle the amount of bandwidth the Guest network can use? Say alot 10mb/sec for Guest access only, and leave the rest for our main network?

The thought is to not have the SSID of the secured network broadcast while allowing the SSID of the Guest network to be broadcast. I am trying to extend the wireless network at our church beyond a firewall to another area of the builing. We have a cat 5 cable run through the firewall to the other side. View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an E2500 router. When I enter 192.168.1.1 as a web address I am asked for a User name and password. When I do not enter anything for user name and put “admin” in password the screen again asks me for the same two things and eventually goes to a 401 message.
When I enter admin in user name and my secure password to allow devises to connect to the network it lets me in. I thought the password to enter the system settings and the one to enter the network are usually separate. When I open the Cisco Connect program and go into the various menus there my “secure” password is written and visible for anyone who clicks it. Is this how it is supposed to work?Also, how do I occasionally change the password to enter into the network.
I am using Windows 8 and my router is a Linksys E2500, in the Network folder it shows no icon and also I get a error when I right click the device and choose "Network Map" (from what I can tell this feature has been removed from Windows 8.)
