I install the E2500 router with my modem. it works fine with other compaq desktop and gateway laptop. But the HP Pavilion dv6910 can not get online. I try my hp laptop at starbuck shop, and it work fine.

Here's the thing: we have a laptop that has been humming perfectly along for more that 12 years because we have never let it be touched by the internet. It has built in wi-fi, but we've never connected it. It has no viruses, no Microsoft creep, we've never had to purchase a virus software update and it has outlasted every piece of computer equipment we've ever owned. We'd like to keep it that way!
But now that the wireless printer is working beautifully, we want to know if there's a way to send the laptop through the router to the wireless printer, but not expose it to the internet. Is that possible?
I bought the 2500 about two weeks ago and simply plugged swapped it out with my old wirelessG router. I did nothing for set up and everything worked fine. But after about a week I started having signal strength issues. I went online and saw that I needed to set up my router a certain way, so I am trying to do that now.

It seems that anytime a connected device goes "idle" for a while, the connection breaks or severely reduces and it's nearly impossible to get the connection back without performing an action at the device in question. Let the wireless connection on my laptop go unused for some period and it reduces to 1Mbps and you can't get back on by just using the link more... you have to do a "repair".
Let more than a few minutes pass since you've printed something on the wireless printer and you MUST go to the printer to re-establish the connection by turning the antenna off and then on again.Basically the same problem with my blueray/DVD getting on the network. When I shut the screen off on my phone, the wifi dies and receives NOTHING over that link while the screen is off.
None of these behaviors existed with the WRT... just the 2500. Background/facts - current firmware, DHCP with reservations, WPA2/per, MAC filtering in use, UPnP disabled. MTU/Beacon/Frag threshold/RTS threshold set per recommendations on this site.

Everything works well except if for some reason my modem disconnects from ISP I can not log into it through the route to reconnect it. I must plug a direct cable into modem from computer run connect script then plug modem back into router all is fine again.

I previously had a WRT54G and had my WAP54G connected to it in AP Client mode. This enabled me to have internet access on my desktop computer that is located in another room downstairs.
I installed an e2500 to my cable modem and everything went perfect. Then 2 weeks later the electricity went off for some power company upgrades. when the power came back on the modem wouldnt connect. I have been through every solution in the cisco articles. The computer connects when directly wired to the modem, so I know there is signal. When I place the router into service and use the ethernet connection the modem no longer displays the active internet led. The e2500 ethernet led to the computer lights and the power led. The Ethernet led from the modem to the router doesn't light. I did a complete reset on the router. The setup software only runs to 75% complete then stops and tells me to check the plugs. Ive checked, replaced and swapped the cables. I've set the MAC to clone, and verified the MAC address via ipconfig. Ive done the complete powercycle at least 20 times.

But my 360 cannot connect to the 5ghz N, only 2.4ghz g. The wierd thing is that the 5ghz signal gives a better signal than the 2.4ghz.
I just found a thread on google talking about the e4200 and someone mentioned counterfit adapters and problems with them. I did buy this on ebay for a cheap price, so it looks like it was too good to be true. this is a counterfit? It does have a real hologram on it.

What should i do ? Reset ? How ? maybee i did not set the cable properly ( what is an ethernet cable ? ) the one i have is a short cable with what looks like telephone jacks at either ends. one end is plugged in my comcast modem and the other into my mini mac.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just bought an E2500 router. I have until now been using a Netgear DG834G v5.
I have tried multiple times but my success has been limited. I turned off DHCP in the Netgear, set the isp login question to no, and set it into bridge mode. I managed to use Cisco Connect to connect the Netgear and the E2500, but there was no internet.
I logged into the E2500 and entered by ISP details in the PPPOE section. I went to status and clicked connect, but a message would eventually pop up saying that an IP address could not be found. In the Netgear I could set up VPI and VCI etc manually, but can't find those settings in the E2500. My ISP also requires a dynamic IP - does this mean that DHCP must be off in both the Netgear and the E2500?
I factory reset the E2500 and tried Cisco Connect again, but it said that it couldn't find the device.

Internet still works. PC is connected directly to router. Tried different port on router. Tried installing CiscoConnect.E2500.1.4.11299.0,0, but it fails saying there is no router connected to PC. Like I said I am on the PC now, wired to router and have internet access via cable modem connected to router. I can see my ireless printer on the network also..
Ok group here's the issue. I have a E2500 router with a wired connection for my sons xbox and 2 laptops connected to it. The laptop I used to set-up the system will usually connect to the router but not allow me through to the internet then after a shutdown and repowering it connects. what to check? The othhitch. Both arer laptop connects without a e running vista home.

There are plenty of instructions on the net, and I get all the up to providing a new IP to the second (old) router. As soon as I give it a new IP, I can't connect to it to continue the configuration!For instance, when I change the IP from 192. 168. 1.1 to 192.168.1.2 on the second router, I cant get my browser to hit it and open and admin page. View 1 Replies View RelatedI have AT&T Uverse which provides Internet for my home. The wireless capability of this router is pretty bad, I don't get good/reliable wireless reception upstairs in my office. The solution was to buy a Cisco E2500 and add it as an access point upstairs.
I have the E2500 LAN port connected to the LAN port of my uverse router downstairs. DHCP is turned off on the E2500. I have my office PC wired into the E2500. The home PC works fine, its getting DHCP from the uverse router downstairs and connects and good speeds. The problem comes with my wireless devices trying to connect to the E2500.
I should mention that yesterday when i bought this, all worked fine. This morning when I came into my office none of the wireless devices would connect to the E2500 at all. But as soon as I remove the cable that connects the E2500 to the uverse router downstairs they will connect via wireless but of course not get an IP address since that is disabled.
I have factory reset the E2500 and uverse router several times and am getting no where. what could be causing the wireless devices to not connect at all?

A second laptop (Vista) errors out with message "the selected data rate is not correct". This laptop sees the router (since I see the router name and it validates the passphrase) but I cannot ping the router. I saw two messages on this site suggesting to enable WMM and use security WPA2. I have a WRT110 wireless router. My problem is that my laptop has issues connecting to my router. It sees it and shows that there is a strong signal but sometime it will connect other times not. All the lights were still flashing as they should, I could still go to the setup page, I just could not connect to the internet, both through wired and wireless. I could connect straight through the modem though.
So I decided that since the router was probably over a decade old that maybe it was just its time, and I bought a new one (E1000). I connected it, and still could not connect to the internet. Now I can connect through the wired connection and I rejoiced thinking I solved it.
Then I checked my laptop and it won't even connect to the router. It sees the router, but when I ask it to connect, it just says it can't. I decided I was too exhausted to try searching and fixing it on my own and if I tried I'd just end up breaking something out of frustration.
