View 1 RepliesI installed an e2500 to my cable modem and everything went perfect. Then 2 weeks later the electricity went off for some power company upgrades. when the power came back on the modem wouldnt connect. I have been through every solution in the cisco articles. The computer connects when directly wired to the modem, so I know there is signal. When I place the router into service and use the ethernet connection the modem no longer displays the active internet led. The e2500 ethernet led to the computer lights and the power led. The Ethernet led from the modem to the router doesn't light. I did a complete reset on the router. The setup software only runs to 75% complete then stops and tells me to check the plugs. Ive checked, replaced and swapped the cables. I've set the MAC to clone, and verified the MAC address via ipconfig. Ive done the complete powercycle at least 20 times.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am unable to connect to the internet with my XP computer. I am running Apple Air Port as my router. The wireless network has an iMac, an IBM Think Pad(XP SP2)and a Dell XPS 410 (XP SP2). I am using WPA security and the Dell will not connect while the other two computers always connect. My wireless network is broadcasting, but when I try to connect after entering the proper key, it attempts to connect but appears to time out and displays the available wireless network. I tried reinstalling the drivers, but no success. Device Manager says the card is working and enabled.

I must plug a direct cable into modem from computer run connect script then plug modem back into router all is fine again.
why connecting to modem through router is blocked?
Is it possible to connect my WAP54G to my new E2500 router?
I previously had a WRT54G and had my WAP54G connected to it in AP Client mode. This enabled me to have internet access on my desktop computer that is located in another room downstairs.
I've found a few people with this problem on the internet. I'm using my phat 360 with the black N adapter. e2500 is updated to the latest firmware. But my 360 cannot connect to the 5ghz N, only 2.4ghz g. The wierd thing is that the 5ghz signal gives a better signal than the 2.4ghz.
I just found a thread on google talking about the e4200 and someone mentioned counterfit adapters and problems with them. I did buy this on ebay for a cheap price, so it looks like it was too good to be true. this is a counterfit? It does have a real hologram on it.

If this is real, what else could be the problem. Has the firmware not been updated to support the 360?
What should i do ? Reset ? How ? maybee i did not set the cable properly ( what is an ethernet cable ? ) the one i have is a short cable with what looks like telephone jacks at either ends. one end is plugged in my comcast modem and the other into my mini mac.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just bought an E2500 router. I have until now been using a Netgear DG834G v5.
I have tried multiple times but my success has been limited. I turned off DHCP in the Netgear, set the isp login question to no, and set it into bridge mode. I managed to use Cisco Connect to connect the Netgear and the E2500, but there was no internet.
I logged into the E2500 and entered by ISP details in the PPPOE section. I went to status and clicked connect, but a message would eventually pop up saying that an IP address could not be found. In the Netgear I could set up VPI and VCI etc manually, but can't find those settings in the E2500. My ISP also requires a dynamic IP - does this mean that DHCP must be off in both the Netgear and the E2500?
I factory reset the E2500 and tried Cisco Connect again, but it said that it couldn't find the device.
I can't connect to my setup page [url]... I get to the page that says..."There is a problem with this website's security certificate." Then I click the "continue to this website (not recommended). After this it will not connect
Tried with IE9 and Firefox 11
Firefox says "The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading."
Internet still works. PC is connected directly to router. Tried different port on router. Tried installing CiscoConnect.E2500.1.4.11299.0,0, but it fails saying there is no router connected to PC. Like I said I am on the PC now, wired to router and have internet access via cable modem connected to router. I can see my ireless printer on the network also..
Switched from a Netgear router to a Cisco E2500 and now my Samsung blue ray won't connect to internet.
It says physical connection established but can't connect to external network.
When I try to connect new iPhone 4S, it goes to the page for all the info (IP address, etc.) instead of just asking for the password input. I've tried disconnecting router and restarting, plugging iPhone into iMac laptop, etc. (PC is hardwired into server and PC laptop, iMac laptop and former iPhone 3 all connected to wifi w/o difficulty.) Went to site of purchase (12/2011) of Lynksys E2500. They suggested might need to download a driver.how to locate and install updates to driver for E2500 to allow connection to iPhone 4S?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Cisco e2500 and I want to extend my network by connecting my old Linkysys G router to it. There are plenty of instructions on the net, and I get all the up to providing a new IP to the second (old) router. As soon as I give it a new IP, I can't connect to it to continue the configuration! For instance, when I change the IP from 192. 168. 1.1 to 192.168.1.2 on the second router, I cant get my browser to hit it and open and admin page. I tried a bunch of values in the last part of the IP, and none work.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've recently installed the E2500, and it's been mostly great....when it's connected. Set up was easy, all the devices in the house were recognized, the coverage is excellent, and it's nice and fast. But several times throughout the day, the wireless signal will simply drop off. Disconnecting and re-connecting gets it back on, but an hour or two later, it's off again. It;s fairly frustrating because you'll be in the middle of something, and you'll have to manually disconnet, and then reconnect. The status will show as "Local". Running Windows XP with Verizin FIOS. Old Linksys wireless router never had a connection problem.
View 5 Replies View RelatedMy E2500 was working great for the past 3 months, and now it seems to be broken since I cannot access the internet anymore. I can connect to the router via wireless or wired at 192.168.1.1 and play with all the settings. On the status page, I have entries for Internet IP Address, Default Gateway, DNS1, and DNS2 as though I was connected fine to my DSL modem. If I connect my computer to my DSL modem then I can access the internet perfectly fine, so I know the modem is working. However, if I connect the E2500 to the modem, and then my macbook to the E2500 then I cannot access anything other than the router config pages. I have also tried, from the router admin page, to ping "www.yahoo.com" and "8.8.8.8" to no avail.
I have tried without success:
1. Renewing IP address from the router status page.
2. Cycling the power on the modem.
3. Rebooting the router.
4. Unplugging the power from both the modem and the router for 10 minutes and reconnecting it.
5. Resetting the router by holding down the reset button for 30s.
6. Using a different computer.
7. Turning off the firewall.
8. Reinstalling the firmware (1.0.01 build 3 May 6, 2011)
I seem to have an issue when with my new E2500 router Version 1 (upgraded to the new fireware - today to elimate issues with that).I had RCN installed a 50MB connection today. When I connect directly to the Modem, I get almost the 50MB of the server, see link from the speedtest. [URL]. However, when i plug the ethernet cable from my Cable Modem to my Wireless Router I get around 15-20MB. Here is an example:[URL]. I know speeds can vary, but if i unplugged and rest within seconds i get my expected 50MB.The cable modem is in the living room, right next to the Wireless Router. I am situated less than 2 metres from the devices when I get results and have full bars.I've tried varying the MTU on manual and also enabled it to adjust as required.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have AT&T Uverse which provides Internet for my home. The wireless capability of this router is pretty bad, I don't get good/reliable wireless reception upstairs in my office. The solution was to buy a Cisco E2500 and add it as an access point upstairs.
I have the E2500 LAN port connected to the LAN port of my uverse router downstairs. DHCP is turned off on the E2500. I have my office PC wired into the E2500. The home PC works fine, its getting DHCP from the uverse router downstairs and connects and good speeds. The problem comes with my wireless devices trying to connect to the E2500.
I should mention that yesterday when i bought this, all worked fine. This morning when I came into my office none of the wireless devices would connect to the E2500 at all. But as soon as I remove the cable that connects the E2500 to the uverse router downstairs they will connect via wireless but of course not get an IP address since that is disabled.
I have factory reset the E2500 and uverse router several times and am getting no where. what could be causing the wireless devices to not connect at all?
Currently running Windows 7, with internet explorer. I have most recent firmware installed on my e2500. The unit drops wireless connectivity on an intermittent basis. Sometimes after 5 minutes and sometimes after 20 or 30 minutes.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI bought the router E2500 and I followed the steps for its configuration. It so happens that most of the time I turn on my router, it does not connect to microcomputer, because it loses the internet settings, requiring that I turn the CISCONNECT and after that, I have to turn off the microcomputer, wait for 2/3 minutes and then reconnect, for only then will be able to surf the internet. I notice that many times even I doing all this procedure the router does not give access to the internet. What should I do?
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Linksys E2500 wireless router frequently interrupts the connection to my ISP. This happens about 2 times an hour. The connections is - due to the automatic reconnect feature - only interrupted for about 20-30 seconds, but is quite unnerving, as it causes downloads to stop, streams to freeze and website loading failures. The reason I know that the connection is interrupted completely is that my IP address changes every time it happens. I know the failure is not on my ISPs side, since the connection does not interrupt when I connect my PC directly to my DSL-Modem (Siemens C2-010-I). The router runs the newest available firmware (1.0.04 build 1 Dec 26, 2011)

I also bought a Linksys E2500 wireless router so my laptop could have internet access at home.I inserted the Starter Guide CD into my desktop, created my ID/password, and connected all the cables like it instructed me to but I still couldn't connect to the internet. Instead, several windows popped up with messages like, "Found new hardware. Locate and install driver software, "Insert disc that came with Internet Access Server", and "Windows could not find driver software for your device."When I tried to troubleshoot, I get something like this, "There may be a problem with your DNS - Windows attempted to find www. microsoft.com using DNS, but server responded back with unknown."I also tried inserting the disc into the laptop, but I still didn't recieve any internet connection, but it says that my router was connected.I tried following its advice to restart, unplug cables, and wait 2 minutes but none of it seem to work.
View 3 Replies View RelatedDue to the way I have my DSL and VOIP TA configured I need to be able to set the subnet mask in the Internet connection. I am currently using the Static IP, putting in an IP of 192.168.1.x with the subnet of 255.255.0.0 when I try to do this it gives me an error saying that 192.168.33.1/255 is reserved for the guest network. I am not using the 33 at all ANYWHERE. If I change the subnet to 255.255.255.0 it will save but I can't connect to the internet with it. My router I just bought today is the E2500 I have an old Linksys WRT model that worked fine with this exact setup for several years before it crashed on me.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI picked up a AE3000 for an older laptop, but it will not connect to any network. It is on an older (01') dell laptop running XP SP3. I have tried using the disk and downloading the latest drivers on-line but no luck. It picks up all the networks around me and mine, but it says trying to connect and just can't. I tried it on another laptop and everything works fine. Is there an issue with this adapter and the original USB ports or XP in general? I have checked and rechecked the passcodes, I have deleted all of the profiles and started from the beginning again. I removed my anti-virus program as well as the last effort. Nothing I do seems to make a difference though. This is just used to access the internet on a laptop that is dedicated to a telescope.

View 6 Replies View RelatedBought the AE1000. Hooked it up to my desktop computer (Sony VAIO), and it immediately recognized my wireless network in my house. However, when trying to log on, it asks for the network key, which I correctly enter and it attempts to log on, but fails to connect! I have called Linksys, and they claim it is my ISP's fault. I called Comcast (My ISP) and they claim it is a faulty product.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just moved an older Windows XP Desktop /w Service Pack 3 from my parent's house over to mine after having my laptop fail on me. It was previously connected wirelessly at their house with a Microsoft MN-510 wireless adapter. When I got it up and running at my house, it was not picking up any networks with the MN-510. So I picked up a new AE2500 today, thinking that the ancient MN-510 may be the problem. Plugged it in, threw in the disc and voila, it started picking up Networks. The problem is, It is not connecting to my Network. The router is a Motorola SBG901. I have already disabled the security on the router and made sure that the MAC Filtering is disabled, but it is still not connecting. There has been no other issues with connecting any of our other devices.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just moved and when I unpacked my ANCENT desktop (circa 2005), the wireless adapter, that had worked with no issues in my last home, would not connect to the internet. I bought a new one, a My router and internet connection are working just fine, as I am able to get on my laptop with no problems whatsoever. After doing many online searches and two long chat conversations with Linksys tech support, no one can seem to figure out what the problem is. The last Linksys person I talked to suggested that it might be the router settings that are preventing my PC from connecting. My internet provider (who provided the router) confirmed that there is nothing with the settings to prevent me from connecting to any device.
This is what happened: I installed the software with my new adapter. It worked fine for a day or so until I rebooted my computer. My friend messed around with it and somehow managed to get it to connect again (he has no recollection of how he did this).
When I clicked on "Find Available Wireless Networks", NOTHING came up even though I knew I had not only my own network available, but others in my range. I finally managed (with Linksys agent) to stop the Linksys software from managing the connection, and got Wireless Zero Connection to manage the connection. So now, when I click on my network, I get a little box that says, "Connected!", however in the list of available networks, it shows my network and says "Not Connected". And of course when I try to connect to the internet it does not work.
I can't download a driver because I don't have the ability to hardwire this PC to the internet. Plus, I got it to work before, so I figure there must be a way for me to get it to work again.
