It looks like switching between those two connections not splitting what is set for WAN1 and what is set for WAN2.I set load balancing as- WAN1 (cable) all HTTP up/donw should go there- WAN2 (DSL) GTalk, IMs, SMTP, POP3, IMAP up/down should go therebut looks like is not working that way. When I will go to speedtest.net and test a connection I always get less amount then connected directly through cable : Also when people try to use any session or IP sensitive web site it doesn't let them to log in because session was expired (based on IP) or IP was changed.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI need to be able to offer Remote Assistance to my mother who is now a good distance away. She has my old XP computer running Windows XP Professional. I'm running Vista 64-bit home premium. We are both using BEFSR41 routers as she wanted to buy what I had been using when I lived with her.
I'm able to get a sesion working between a virtual PC computer running XP Pro on my LAN, but I can't get it to work over the WAN connection (internet). All I can find researching what ports to open is port 3389, which I tried 3 different ways to try to open. Ant correct set up and connection procedure to allow me to receive invites for remote assistance via the internet? I can't send invites either, I tried it just for the heck of it. I'm not sure if this is a NAT problem or a problem with the ports not being opened. Changing from DHCP to static had no effect, and there is only one computer that uses DHCP as I set up the old ones to use static when learning about networking and never changed them back.
Here are some censored screenshots of how my router is configured. I apologize for censoring them, but I don't want to reveal what other ports are open on my router or the configuration of my LAN more than necessary. I don't have any other Windows computers available on my LAN for testing that support Remote Assistance, but I do have an old Win98SE computer. Mom has my aging XP computer for e-mail, web browsing, Office 2003 and that's about it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy client has a DSL modem and a Belkin wired 4-port router configured to connect to it using PPPoE. Apparently there is no way to configure the E2500 such that it may be dropped in as a direct replacement for the Belkin (which would also provide wireless access) without the PPPoE login/password (from the DSL provider, Verizon).
I would like to connect the "Internet" port of the E2500 to one of the Belkin's 4 ports, in order to use the E2500 for wireless internet access without using any of the 4 wired ports but I think this creates a NAT within an existing NAT network?
To avoid that if I configure the E2500 in wired bridge mode, it becomes transparent, and I can no longer access its administration interface using the address 192.168.1.1 (since that address belongs to the Belkin). How may I, for example, change the wireless password which the E2500 is in wired bridge mode?
how i can configure the Cisco RV042 to access PPTP VPN Server (Witopia VPn) or other vpn servers.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I have this E1500 Router that worked fine for the past 5 months, then out of the blue, the wireless feature ceased to function... laptops were not being able to connect to the wireless, the router was also not broadcasting the SSID.So, here's what I have done so far:
1. Check the router software settings, all was good there.
2. Did a "hardware reset" pushing the red button. (now this solved the problem, BUT only for a day, when power is turned off for the night, the next day it's non-functional again. The cycle can be repeated daily, but its a pain to reset and set it up everyday)
3. Updated the Firmware, and this somehow solved the problem for 3 Days... and now it's back to non-functional, again out of the Blue.
Is the Router just busted and it's not remembering the settings?
The router works fine until I plug the 4th wire in the back, which goes to a 2nd desktop computer, then it is only a matter of time until the router drops all internet connections including the direct wire to desktop #1, wireless, and the other two wires. This is my 2nd e2000 router since Amazon replaced the first one after about 4 months as it was having the same problem.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI currently have a LinkSys BEFSR81 connected to my cable modem as I need at least 6 wired ports for my house network. I also have a WRT54GS that is currently unused, but I would like to add it to the network so I can have some wireless connectivity as well.
Assuming that it's possible, what's the best way to combine these two units into the same network? Can the WRT54GS simply be connected downstream from the BEFSR81 via one of the open ports? I'm assuming that I'll have to change the IP address on the wireless unit to make it individually accessible for configuration, status checking, etc.
I've installed a RV042 and my terminals cant even ping each other. They have Internet, but they cannot ping each other, or open network shares. It is not a dns problem becouse it does not work with the IP.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI purchased Linksys (Cisco) EA2700. For the moment it is being used as an access point for a wireless network (WLAN) and an Ethernet switch. 4 laptops are being connected to it through the wireless network, the wire connects one computer and a separate ADSL modem (it is used for accessing Internet). As a result minimal ping to any of the devices in wireless network is 8 ms – the best result and sometimes rises to 20 ms. Consequently when working with local network resources one suffers from speed decrease. Ping to the access point through the wire varies from 1 to 8 ms. These delays are quite strange as even on cheaper routers ping does not rise above 2 ms (usually <1ms). Is it normal for the device?

Whenever he turns it on and connects it to the internet, the whole network crashes. My xbox, ipod, laptop, and the main desktop (Which we also just changed to a Dell one.)downstairs all cannot connect to the internet. This lasts from anywhere between 2 and 15 minutes and it continues to crash the internet in about 15 minute intervals as long as his computer is connected to the internet. No other devices in the house cause this as I can have all of my stuff connected and nothing happens. We have a Linksys WRT110 router but I don't think that or the modem is the problem as we have changed both multiple times. This has been happening for about a year ever since my oldest brother gave my brother the laptop.

I tried powering down the devices over night (to avoid any heating issues) and then powering up but the results are the same. I am obviously missing something, and don't really want to start my network from scratch again...

One poster gives the password which is arbitrarily substituted but when I tried that (having had the same problem), I couldn't get it to work and had to reinstate factory settings and repeat the configuration from scratch. Now, for some reason, I can't even do that anymore! 'admin/admin' is no longer accepted, and if instead I try to open the configuration using the Setup Wizard CD I get an error message saying "Unable to connect..." and telling me to press the 'reset' button (which I have of course done, to no avail). Yet pinging the router produces an immediate successful response and my access to the internet is as before.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy wrt110 firmware .05 has been working fine until now. I have a couple of phones, 2 printers, 3 laptops and a wii happily connecting to it. However now when I power on the wireless device, nothing can connect wirelessly. Wired connection is fine, but my wireless network disappears. No device can find the network, although it is there and set up on the admin pages. I pull the power chord out for 30 seconds and try again to get it going again, a bit like trying to start a car. Everntually devices find the network.
On two occasions it has forgotten the wireless settings and restored an open 'linksys' network. It's really infuriating becuase whilst I restore the SSID and use the same key, not all the devices actually recognise it and have to be reconfigured on the devices.
First time VPN newbie. I need to set up vpn for a friends small business using RV082 so, as a test, I set it up here at my home using a very basic config. The network topology looks like:
cloud => cable modem => RV082 => DIR655 => win7 PC
At a remote site, I fire up QUICKVPN, enter necessary data and successfully connect. Bring up Remote Desktop and put in the IP of my home pc and the logon username and, after a minute or two, it says "unable to connect to the computer" (or words to that effect). My home PC has been configured to allow remote desktop connections and this has occured in the past but not since the RV082 installation. There is nothing in the PC's logs nor in the RV082's logs.
I cannot connect to a PPTP on the outside of my network. We have a RV082, port 1723.It says verifying username and password but then disconnects. The error log says Blocked IP Spoofing.
