I am recieving error 619 (port for connection was closed) when trying to connect over my wireless connection. If I disconnect the WRT54G and hard wire to the cable modem I can VPN in without a problem. I have enabled IPSec / PPTP / L2TP on the VPN security tab and have reset the wireless modem.
View 4 RepliesSo I'm going to be renting an in-law unit where I can get wifi but no hard wire cable drop. Can I take a wireless router (I have a WRT54G sitting somewhere...) and have it connect to the wifi then use the ethernet ports on the back to hook into my computers? Essentially:
[modem] -- [wireless router] --> <-- [wireless router] -- [3 computers]
If this is not possible, I also have a 5 port switch as well. Is this a better option:
[modem] -- [wireless router] --> <-- [wireless router] -- [switch] -- [3 computers]
To add complexity, I'll be needing to forward some ports through all this. I have some school projects running on a server...

View 1 Replies View RelatedI bought an EA 3500 refurbished through linksys. I can't configurate it using the CD-Rom. Always said "can't find your router". So I flash with the classic firmware, and it fixs the problem and automatically upgrade to smart Wi-Fi. That being said, whenever I plug in a portable hard drive, the router disconnect from internet after a minute. I tried my seagate HDD and also my flash driver. Both Lost internet after a minute or so. So I think it is probably the router's problem.

(My 3 other computers and printer) Well lo and behold the network does not work at all. I only get internet through my wired computer and cannot access my router through 192.168.1.1 anymore.I tried powering down the router and modem by holding the reset for 30 seconds and unplugging them.

My temporary solution is to disconnect the power from the router for about 15 seconds and plug it back in .... and all is well.... at least for another day or so.The real problem is that instead of properly connecting to IPv4 address 192.168.1.100 ..... it randomly connects to Autoconfiguration IPv4 address 169.254.29.54 When this problem occurs the SSID list shows both my 192 connection as well as a public network with no Internet connection?
I've used this router for several years without a problem until I recently bought a new Canon wireless MG5320 printer which initially had problems connecting to my LAN. After a telco with tech support the printer works fine but now I am now experiencing the Autoconfig address problem.My LAN consist of the WRT54G router, a Motorola cable modem, a Lenovo laptop running Win7 64bit, a Hp desktop running Win7 64bit and the Canon wireless printer. (all connected wirelessly)
I've currently got a WRT54G and have an opportunity to buy a WRT54GS. The problem is that the seller of the WRT54GS has lost the Set-Up Wizard CD & Hard Copy Quick Installation Guide. Obviously I have these items already with my WRT54G. My question is this. Are these items different for the WRT54G or will the stuff I already have for the WRT54G "work" for the WRT54GS.

View 1 Replies View RelatedToday I replaced my motherboard to fix the graphics card issue on my Vostro 1400. After installing the motherboard I installed the driver's from Dell's site for the networking card.
I get an error stating device driver/software was not successfully installed. I tried a restore point, that didn't work either. I tried the original driver disc that came with the laptop - same problem.
In device manager it is showing: broadcom netlink adapter fast ethernet #2 - does that mean it thinks I have more than one network card? I'm not sure what to do next. I can't access any wireless from that laptop, not even from a hard wire.
I'm running Windows 7 32 bit.
I have a linksys WAG120N router updated to 1.00.16and I have Wi-Fi problems that while I use Wi-Fi on my laptop or mobile then the Wi-Fi disconnected (wifi on router still green but i can't connect ) until i restart router.

When I connect the adapter, after a while, the 3g modem disconnects and turns red, and the modem connection software says it cant find the usb 3g device. It feels like the windows is somehow mixing the adapter, and the 3g modem or somthing. Again this same problem happens with multiple devices. Is there some settting im missing.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to get wireless internet set up again and have run into a big issue. Previous wireless router was also a WRT54G and she had problems. I gave her my old one that I was no longer using, but it was still working with no problems.
The problem that I am having is that we are unable to get internet through the wireless router. We are able to get the desktop connected to the internet when we plug it directly into the DSL modem, but when we plug the wireless modem into the DSL modem and the desktop into the wireless modem, then we don't get any internet connection at all.
I had her do a factory reset on modem so that we were starting fresh. I have also tried unplugging both modems and then pluggin in the DSL and then Wireless modem, with no change. We have the ability to get into wireless settings page, but I'm not sure what in there to change that would make any difference on this one.
I know that this problem isn't actually a wireless problem, but it has to be related to the modem. We haven't even been able to get to the wireless part of the set up and we are already running into problems.
We have the Cisco WRT54G wifi router in many offices in this building. This router has two antennas. These antenna are screw into the back of the router unit. The antenna is male and router side is female of the connector. what are these connectors (some type of RF connectors)? How can we get extension cables for these to move the antenna from one fix location to another point?

View 1 Replies View RelatedOk, so with my WLC2504 implementation, I use the 4 ports to physically segment my wireless networks. Here is my setup:
Port 1 (Management) - Internal IP so I can manage the WLC from our internal network (Untagged)
Port 2 - Connected to our core stack and tagged with VLAN 14
Port 1 and 2 are both connected to the same core stack
Port 3 - Connected to a RV016 Linksys which is connected to our fiber connection to the outside (Untagged) - External connection for laptops
Port 4 - Connected to a Linksys wireless router (with wireless disabled) (Untagged) - External connection for smartphones
The TAC engineer I talked to just told me that I can only have one untagged interface on the WLC. If they are physically connected to different switches, thus physically segmenting the network, should it matter?
The wireless works just fine. What I am having issues with is getting a client that is hard-wire connected to the RV016 to get a DHCP address from the WLC.
I'm looking to add the X3000 to my SingTel 2Wire 5012NV to be able to increase the wireless speed to 100Mbps and also an extender RE1000 to cover some blind spots int he house. How to configure the 5012NV into a bridge so this will work for me without loosing the connection from the 5012NV to the mioTV setup box and phone line.

Any of the four PCs that are hard wired to the X3000 have no problems talking to each other but none of the wireless-attached iPads or notebooks are able to see any other machine on the network. All machines are able to access the Internet.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI can't get a new IP from my ISP when my Cable modem router(EPC3925) is set to router mode, i have tried factory restore, unplugged etc..but still no luck. It changes each time i reset it when i set it to bridged only mode but then i won't be able to connect other devices to it since it doesn't uses DHCP in bridged only mode. It changes back to the IP i had when i set it to router mode. I don't want to change my router settings to bridged only because it would disconnect the other devices in my house. Why my ISP assigns the same IP address when it's set to router mode but assigns different IPs when it's set to bridged only, how is this possible ?

Now the Power light is a steady red and only light on. Tech support says that it's most likely the power adapter.As I understand, most what are called modems or routers today are a combination of these two, is that right? I see them in stores ranging from $30 to $200 or more, and they all say they do the same thing - almost identical wording. If it turns out that my adapter is good, what should I be looking for?

View 2 Replies View RelatedOur router is connected through a cable modem and If I connect my computer directly wired to the cable modem, I have no problem, it does not disconnect at all.In comes the router in between, when I connect the router and connect my computer through the router WRT54G2, it works initially then I get disconnected after about 1-2 hours. This is very regular. I have a temporary solution by resetting the router via two ways:
1. Go to the admin page, and perform a release and renew IP method.
2. Simply power off the router and then on again.
I have an EA2700 (fimware "classic" 1.0.14.129982) that used to work perfectly fine with a Comcast cable modem. I just recently switched to Charter with an Arris TM902 modem and that's where the problems started. The cable modem will not recognize my router. I have to plug in a computer into the cable model when it starts up. Then I need to clone the MAC address and restart the router (after disconnecting the computer). Why isn't the cable modem recognizing the router when I restart it? I guess this could work if it would be a one time thing but I had to power-cycle the modem and it stopped recognizing the router even with the cloned MAC address. So I had to do the whole spiel again.
Is there any way to make this work easier? Should I update my router's firmware to the "smart" one?
I have a Linksys WRT54GS, version 6 with Mac OS X (version 10.6.8) hooked up to a Scientific Atlantic cable modem, with RCN as the ISP.
Recently, RCN had some network issues, and so I had to power down and reset my modem. The modem is working fine now -- no problems at all when the Mac is connected direclty to the modem.
The router's network is OK in that I can connect the Mac wirelessly to the network, but I can't connect to the internet through the router (through neither the wireless or wired connection).
I have downloaded the latest firmware update for the router, following the Linksys site instructions.
I did call Linksys tech support on the advice of RCN, and they said that the router does appear to be working (power, WLAN, and Internet lights are on), but they would be charging me nearly the cost of a new router to fix the problem.
I can connect to the internet just fine if I run my modem straight to my computer. If I try to run it through my router, however, I can't get a connection. The internet light on the router does not light up and shows no signs of connection. The DHCP renewal doesn't do anything, either. I have power cycled many, many times and reset the router to factory settings as well. I have tried cloning the mac address to match the computer and done all that I can (as far as my knowledge reaches). The tech support 'warranty' is also outdated, so there are no other options except for paying a ridiculous amount of money to talk to somebody.I just got a new modem yesterday and that is when it stopped working through the router. This problem occurs with two different routers (both of which worked previously) so I don't think anything is faulty.The modem is an ARRIS TM602G and the router is a Linksys WRT54G v.3

I have a need to have 2 seperate networks from my comcast cable modem.I was hoping to plug a 5 port hub into the cable modem and then plug both the wrt610n and the wrt54g into the hub. Seem that only one of the routers will get an ip assigned from Comcast.Is there a way to have one ISP cable modem and create two different home networks with the two linksys routers, thus two separate independent networks?
-Network 1: public household use and family (Jane's wireless laptop, household PC's etc).
-Network 2: private household/company use and separate from the public family network (company wireless laptop/company PC, un-secure media server).
