I bought a Netgear wnr2000v3 about a year ago and everything was running fine for months. There are 8 devices connected to the router, 3 directly connected, 2 over wifi and 3 passing a switch.
Now, since approx. a month, it happens like once a week that the connection to the modem crashes and I'm unable to access the internet for about 3-4 hours anymore. I'm still able to connect to the router, where it is stated that there's no internet connection. When I connect a pc directly to the modem, everything is fine, so there doesn't seem to be any problems with my ISP.
I updated to the last firmware, tried it out with only 1 device connected to the router, reset factory defaults, rebuilt the physical setup.. Is there a way to gain access to internal log files?
I am trying to filter her website visits. I have a list of sites blocked at the router, but sometimes the ipod gets around this. I set the ipod to a static ip. Now is there anyway to block certian websites to this IP only?can't with laptop but can with the ipod via facebook. I thought I read someplace that you can block sites to a users static ip or mac address. I haven't been able to find it in my router settings. Im using a netgear wnr2000v3.
When ever I try to port foward It always says the ip adress should be in the same subnet as the lan ip adress when i'm using my public ip adress then I changed my ip adress to the public ip and it worked but no one can't get in the server.
I have a Netgear wnr2000v3 Router connected to my Motorola Surfboard Gateway.I have a freePBX Server (virtual running off of VMware Workstation 8) that needs ports 10001-20000 and 5060 forwarded to the server at 192.168.1.110
I added the portforwarding as in this photo:
When I use a port tester it still says "Port 5060 is closed"I have also turned off Windows Firewall. What else could be blocking these ports?
I have an arris broadband modem combo and the wifi signal in the basement is poor I tryed to connect a netgear n 300 wireless router (wnr2000v3) to extend the wifi with an ethernet cable but the neatgear router does not have an internet connection.
I have a Netgear DGN2200 router/modem and have been having this problem for a while now. Every so often the internet will cut out for roughly 30-60 seconds. There doesn't seem to be any pattern to the connection losses and they can happen at any time in the day (overall it seems to occur every hour and a half, although it can vary). When the internet connection is lost, the little "!" triangle appears at the bottom right. I still have wireless access to the router itself. It also occurs on both my wired computer and the wireless computer. On the Netgear itself, the internet light will either flash rapidly green, or sometimes turn red for a short while. The Netgear is plugged via a splitter into the telephone socket. the old neatgear we had did the exact same thing before it finally died and no longer worked at all. Hence why we replaced it with this one. I also rang AOL about the problem, who said that there may be a problem with the line and that we should ring BT about it. We had the line checked and apparently the line was fine and was not the cause of the problem. Things I have tried include changing the router channel and I have tried changing the splitter in case that was faulty. Do you think it could be a DSL problem on AOL's end? It's possible that the drops coincided with a free upgrade they gave us for faster internet, although time-wise I'm not entirely sure.
I use the internet wirelessly via a Netgear JWAGR614 (I guess this is the Japanese-market version of the WAGR614), which works fine with my old laptop, a Toshiba Dynabook running Windows Vista. When I use it to connect with my new laptop, however (also a Dynabook, using Windows 7 32-bit), the connection to the router will freeze every few minutes. (It still claims to be connected, but no data seems to get through.) It will then come back after about 20 seconds, or faster if I disconnect and reconnect manually. The connection of my other PC is not affected during this time, it is still transferring data normally even while the new PC cannot.
I've been living in the basement of my house. Our router and modem is upstairs and we have a 20 mb/s connection, but I just ran a speedtest from my room and it shows me that my connection is only at 2.47 mb/s, which is really weird. The router is nearly just above my head on the floor above me, so I can't see the problem.
I live in a college dorm that has pretty lousy internet. There is no WiFi, just 2 ethernet ports per room I own multiple wireless devices, so wifi is basically a must, but with a wireless router the connection is too slow to even play xbox live. A friend of mine mentioned that I could input multiple ethernets into my wireless router, so I was kind of hoping that was somehow possible, even though I am pretty skeptical. I have a Netgear WPN824N router
Internet connection seems like it drops and comes back up every couple of seconds. Not just little drops, wont load a web page and lag me out of games drop. Usefully only for a few hours at most. But its been a full day this time. Ive been searching all all over the place and nothing is working. So with that I have a Netgear WNA3100 picking up wireless from my land lords up stairs. Not sure their router Id but Im pretty sure the problem is on my end. Ive downloaded and reinstalled updated driver, and I have "excellent" connection all the time, according to windows and netgears software. Ive tried pinging and I only lost one packet once (at yahoo.com) out of probably 100 pings, literally Ive been sitting here for a while, to the ip and some sites.
I live out in the country at the end of a very long copper cable and my internet connection is never great at the best of times. Also live in an old house with thick walls so the family are always complaining about the poor wireless connection. So I bought a new router, netgear DGN3500, which on the whole seemed pretty good out of the box, but now it is randomly dropping the internet connection. Sometimes this is solved by rebooting the router, but just now this didn't do it and only turning it off completely for 30" and turning it back on again gave me back my connection (DownStream Connection Speed 3680 kbps, UpStream Connection Speed 416 kbps - which is as good as it gets on the end of my phone line).
I have just picked up an ADSL Netgear N150 DGN1000 router as my old router (just some branded old thing from my ISP has started playing up a bit due to age more than anything else) but for some reason it is not seeing my internet connection at all.I've reset it factory default twice and connect to it wirelessly just fine, including accessing the router's setup pages and whatnot. I was going to update the firmware from in there.. but that needs the connection to the internet as well. My ISP is BE Unlimited (UK ISP) and their old branded modem connects again immediately when I plug that back in so I know it's nothing to do with any of the cables or filters, etc.One thing I have noticed is that on the box for the new router it does say Orange Retail (another UK ISP) on one of the barcodes but the router itself isn't branded, so I don't see this could be a problem but figured it was woth mentioning.
I built my first computer today (woot!) but I'm having issues using my netgear N300 usb adapter to access the internet.
I am using a DLink router but for some reason I am getting some weird issues.
First of all, after using the netgear usb adapter, my mac address is something like E0-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx with the xx being the other numbers. Is having a macaddress starting with E0 wrong? All the other 5 devices on my router have mac addresses starting with 00.
Secondly, I am getting a 169.xxxxxx ip address. This is really starting to bother me because I can't set it up using DHCP.
I have a Netgear WNR1000v3 router. I have two computers connected with a wired connection and a couple of different devices that I connect with using the wireless connection. (Phone, Laptop, Ipad). The wired connections work fine but the wireless connection will only connect to the internet for a very short time (seconds) and then drop off. If I wait long enough I will pick it back up again. But again, for only a very short time. I have tried all the reboot procedures without any success. If I reboot the laptop, Ipad, etc., that seems to get me a connection, again for a very short time. I've checked the lights on the router and everything there says its OK. It seems to have to difference how far I am from the router. I've put the computer right next to it without success. Is the router going bad? It's only about 4 months old. Because I don't use the wireless feature often, I can't tell you if it ever worked or not. It seems to me like I was able to keep a connection when I first hooked it up but I'm not sure.
I recently purchased the netgear n300 ADSL2+ modem router. I have tried all day to get it to work, but I have not have any success.
ISP: Verizon (Now frontier I think)
DSL light will be solid green, along with the port, wifi, etc... But the internet one stays solid red.I've tried changing dns settings and things, but to no avail. Though I am able to login to the router, and I can get internet if I directly connect to the modem.

I live in an area that has no cable or dsl internet available. The only options are basic dial up or wireless internet through one of the cell phone companies.Right now I use verizon with a usb adapter.I have had this since moving here.It gets good speed and I share it witht the other 4 pcs in my house through a 5 port switch using windows xp's ics(internet connection sharing)We mainly use the internet for playing games together online.Recently though i have wanted to upgrade to a wireless network.I feel as if I 'm living in the stone age because everyone else I know is using wireless.Last night I went out and purchased a netgear n750 duel band router(model number wndr4000-100nas) after reading several guides online about how to set it up.It sounded easy enough but after 3 hours I still could not get it working.
Here is what I am trying to do.I want to basically turn the router into a switch by disabling it's routing function and let the pc that has the verizon wireless card be the host and hand out ip addresses to the other pcs.(like it is doing now)Problems I am having
1- keep getting the work offline popup when I click on anything in the router control panal(it say you are not connected to the internet would you like to connect or continue to work offline I hit work offline and it just pops up again when I click something else)
2- I think I found how to change the router's ip address and disable DHCP under lan controls but when I hit save it pops up saying I need to manually change my pc's ip address and it will not save.
I am using winxp32 sp3 and right now 5 gigabit wire lan cards.(though if I get this working I'm going to pick up wireless card for 4 of the pcs.)
My PC can't seem to keep the wireless connection for longer than a few seconds without it trying to reconnect and eventually drop again. Other family members' PCs don't seem to have this problem and my laptop also has a stable connection. I used to have no problem connecting, but this problem arose one day. My house uses Verizon FIoS, the router is a Netgear R3600 and my PC uses AVG.
The picture has the signal showing up, but then it disappears seconds later only to reappear again.
my dell notebook that has windows 7 starter keeps losing internet connection and saying no connection available but my home computer still has the internet connection. I have a Netgear router and my home service is through comcast.
Everyone's 2wire works in bridge mode of they follow these steps url...but when i try i get no internet connection nor does it pick up any internet activity. I even input my account and dsl password in the netgear router gateway still no luck.I'm trying to use the netgear router because in my room i only get 2 signals bars and if i switch to the netgear wireless N router the signal strength would be alot better.
I just added a wireless router netgear wgr614 and I secured it and it worked for one day and then after that no internet connection. I've rest and unplugged both the modem and the router and still nothing.
My Netgear DGN2200 (Name NetgearCS) won't check for firmware upgrade because it says no connection to internet so unable to connect to the Netgear Servers - Yet this laptop I am currently using (wireless connection is turned off on laptop but not router) is wire connected to this same Netgear router and I have internet connection because I am able to post this enquiry. Note the Netgear DGN2200 router gets its internet connection from my Sky Router and is connected by wire to this Sky Router. FYI my iPhone is connected wirelessly to this Netgear DGN200 router (NetgearCS) and is able to connect to the internet. Do you know why my Netgear DGN2200 cannot check for firmware updates?
How to set the WNR2000v3 into Bridge Mode. I can not find instructions on it in the user manual or the NetGear website. And Google.com has turned up not valuable results either.
I have the WRN2000v3 plugged into another router via Ethernet. I basically want to "dumb down' the WNR2000v3 into a basic Ethernet switch.
One of my laptops is having a connection problem. I have 3 other laptops that can connect perfectly with my router, and normally there's only 1 laptop that is connected to my router. The laptop with the slow connection (takes 5 HOURS to load a website, sometimes will not even load), i re-installed the OS, and installed all the drivers needed, and it still wont work. it shows strong connection to me, and im sure the password for the router is right. below is the ipconfig/all information. Having this problem for 2+ weeks now!!! I think this problem started when i restored my router to factory setting, my router is Netgear WGR614v6.
I have a Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop and Netgear WGR614v6 that connect wirelessly, however I cannot connect to the internet. I can however connect the laptop to other wireless connections with no problem (ie McDonalds), and can connect other laptops to the router with no problems (ie company laptop).
We're just bought a Netgear WNR2000V3 router and everything is working great, except for our XBox Slim......We can't connect very often and the only way I can get a connection is by disabling all other wireless connections. (Wii, IPod Touch, IMac and Acer Aspire Laptop) My main computer is the IMac.
I have a Netgear wgr614v7 wireless router that has been working perfectly for a couple weeks now, but I have suddenly run into a problem. For some reason, I can now only connect one laptop at a time to the network. When I try to connect a second laptop, it says, "Windows was unable to connect to [network name]". When I try to connect with my Macbook, it says "network timed out".
I have installed the netgear N900 dual band which is 99 and is working fine on 2.45ghz because I have a belkin g range extender as my house is very long. So everything is working and my computer works but every so often the Internet drops so the modem needs turned on and off to get back on the Internet even though my computer says its connected but not loading any pages. It works fine for a while then sometimes drops, it works fine until I use my Mac books or iMac but works fine with iPhones? What can I do ?
Mediacom is my cable provider. They came out a few months ago and thought the problem was their Motorola modem. They replaced it with an RCA (Thomsen) which worked great for about 3 months. Now (3/13) I am losing my connection at least once a day.I started to download the new Netgear Firmware update, but in the middle of that, you guessed it, the connection dropped. So now my router is useless. There's probably a way to reset it, but I haven't found that yet. And so far the Netgear phone # is locked inside the router somewhere! I'm hard-wired to the RCA modem now, so we'll see. I have a feeling, after reading the previous thread, that my connection will be fine.I have my own cable modem, needed for a previous cable provider, and a new Netgear N600 2-frequency router.
I currently have a Netgear dgn2200 n300 wireless router (acts as a modem, you know all in one thing), and I have configured the settings on it so I can have an open nat type/port forwarded for gaming and so on. I have my xbox and the desktop connected to it via ethernet and my ipod and laptop connected wireless.
The problem is that the internet just drops out for a couple of mins every hour or so whether I or whoever is on it or not. I have tried changing the cables and filter for the phone line but nothing has seemed to work. Occasionally when the internet drops out it doesn't come back on so I have to unplug the router and so on to get it to work.
It's just starting to get annoying getting disconnected so often especially when the router cost like $200 and is supposed to be good for gaming and stuff, and I can't seem to find out why or isolate the problem. My internet download speed is fairly quick (I can get 1.5mb/s say when downloading a movie/hd youtube) and I get 70 GB a month.
My internet, after a few seconds of working right, craps out on me and I cannot figure out why. I am tempted to purchase a new adapter. My ISP is Comcast, I'm using T1, and I run AVG.
