I have a Netgear wgr614v7 wireless router that has been working perfectly for a couple weeks now, but I have suddenly run into a problem. For some reason, I can now only connect one laptop at a time to the network. When I try to connect a second laptop, it says, "Windows was unable to connect to [network name]". When I try to connect with my Macbook, it says "network timed out".

I turned on my computer one day and it gave me a error saying the card was not inserted. I powered the computer off/on a couple times, while trying different things, and it suddenly worked. The next day, it had the same issue again.
I tried reinstalling the card but it still had the same issue. I bought a new Netgear WN311B network card, same issue.
I plugged in a borrowed Linksys card, worked like a charm.
One thing I noticed was when I reinstalled the netgear card, it was numbered at the end of the in the device manager; Netgear #1, netgear #2, etc.. everytime I reinstalled it, the number would go up.
Until yesterday my various equipment was networking to each other and the internet without a problem. After i reset my d-link DSL-2640B router (would this initiate an update?) my x-box would not connect to the internet, There is no problem connecting to the router and the home network. Everything is talking to each other and everything else is connected to the internet including the TV. The router must just be blocking the x-box and only from yesterday. I checked ports that are talked about and i think i set up port triggering, but then noticed the firewall is disabled anyway.

It's not the modem, because if I connect my desktop directly to the modem, it connects fine (which is how I'm typing this now), but if I plug in the router, my desktop and my laptop (wireless) will show they're connected to the network, but that there is no internet connection available. Support won't troubleshoot because I've had my router 1 year and 10 days (which I think is a crock of **bleep**) and the "Guide Me" thing is just running me around in circles. I'm so pissed off I'm about to throw the router through a window and buy another (*NON*-Linksys) router, rather than pay $30 for one time tech support (which, with my luck, the same thing would happen again in 3 months, and the same directions wouldn't work then). I've done a factory reset, and set up the router from scratch, done a firmware upgrade, everything, but it still won't connect

During connectivity of my wireless connection with wifi router, wireless connection is suddenly down although wireless work fine. My wireless show the wireless network connection but cannot connect with router anymore. It works again when I switch off the wifi router and laptop and restart them. I need to restart the both of them again and again. No anti virus is installed in my laptop. I tried to uninstall the driver and install back, but it does not work .

Since my ‘main’ computer is connected directly to my cable internet, I know that there is nothing wrong with the Internet connection itself, only with wireless connection.I disconnected the Linksys Router for 2 minutes and reconnected it, but to no avail. I know that I have not made any changes to any software/hardware that might affect the speed.Since I also happen to have access to another wireless Internet connection (a different provider), I connected to that network and all my wireless devices were working perfectly. Therefore, I think the problem must be with the router. I am using Windows XP (on the main computer, where the router and Internet cable are attached).

Last week the boss and I went out of town for some off site training leaving a single employee in charge of holding down the fort. When we came back we ran into a whole slew of problems not the least of which being that one of our graphics computers doesn't seem to want to recognize the work network anymore. It seems like the employee who we left (who, of course, "didn't touch anything") must have disconnected the computer from the network and started a new one as it is connected to one simply entitled "network". The issue I'm running into now is that when I check the network list the work network is not showing up at all. I've checked and I can ping the other computers on that network, they are all connected to the same network adapter, I just can't seem to get this one computer onto the preexisting work network.

Also i was sharing internet connection.But one day it suddenly stopped working. I changed IP address and tried all that i could do. Nothing worked.Now when I ping a PC from another it replies only once out of four and if I try to ping one more time , reply never comes.When i reboot both PC's and scan using angry IP, it shows other pc only once.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIve been using my Sony Vaio laptop (windows 7) to connect to my uni halls internet connection by ethernet cable (and keysurf login) for months with no problems, now all of a sudden my ethernet cable is not being recognised. its not a problem with my connection or cable as other people's laptops work on it. and its not a problem with my hardware as my laptop works in other people's rooms. its just the combination of my laptop and my connection. My friend did something along the lines of resetting the IP address, but not really sure what he did. So i've done a full recovery of my computer.
View 3 Replies View RelatedSo Today, a few hours ago i decided i was going to clean things up a bit on the computer, so i ran raxco perfectdisk defragger, disk cleanup, ccleaner/ccleaner registry fix a couple of times and windows defrag. So after that, the computer was running amazingly fast, but the internet was suddenly really slow, and youtube videos especially are taking a very long staggering time to load up, when usually my internet connection is average, i have unlimited downloads on my contract so it cant be that and its the temporary internet files and cache either, just cleared it all.
View 3 Replies View RelatedSo, first of all, I have two PCs in my home, one connected directly to the router, the other connected through the wireless network. I use the wireless connected PC. In the past I've had some issues of my connection cutting out on random occasions for about a minute then reconnecting back. This happened to every single user connected to the network, including the one connected directly to the router. It was just a minor nuisance so I just put up with it. However, one day my internet just slowed down to a crawl and I don't think any hardware/software changes were made to cause this, but I may be wrong. What confuses me is that, now the internet has slowed down, the disconnecting issue is a very rare occurrence. It happens probably once a day, where as before it was much more frequent. I assume it has something to do with my network not being so strained. The PC connected directly to the router does not seem to have this issue, in the speed test below, it has a higher download rate, around 6-7mbps I think (it's pretty bad in this area, but it's usable).I have done some research as to why this is happening, but there are so many different diagnoses for a slow internet that finding the one I'm having is really difficult. I thought it was just my ISP performing maintenance but it's lasted for about 4-5 days now.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a D-Link DIR-615 Hardware Version: E3 Firmware Version: 5.10 and I am using this as an access point with the DHCP disabled (secondary router) and my primary router is located down stairs and it is also a DIR-615 Hardware Version: B2 (192.168.0.1) and this issue didn�t develop until later over time and I have made absolutely no network configuration or ISP changes at all the internet has been working fine confirmed with Time Warner Cable and for more than six months and I out the DIR-615 Hardware Version: E3 Firmware Version: 5.10 router has been bringing down the entire network/internet access and I can confirm this router is causing the network/internet to go down and windows notification will say the network only has limited access and I am also unable to access the router page (192.168.0.2) state I have to remove it and restart it D-Link can take a look into this issue I believe this might be a bug and I confirmed on the website that this is the latest version.
View 15 Replies View RelatedI am able to connect to my home network with a wireless connection, and the signal is strong at first, but then immediately drops as soon as I move the laptop more than a few feet from the router and then can't connect at all. I have not had this issue with two other laptops with the same settings. The adapter has been uninstalled, driver updated, tried different router and adapter settings, etc. with no luck. Is it possible there is a problem with the wireless antenna?

For some odd reason l cannot connect to Router as keeps losing connection. I connect for a few secs then it loses connection. I can use my IPAD fine to connect to router. I have tried to use use both wireless dongle and cable to connect to ADSL router but no luck with both. I have check for spyware etc but nothing found. My laptop picks up the router, shows full strength but i cannot connect to the internet wireless or Ethernet cable. I restored to a previous date and it worked fine, and all my other devices work fine (iPad, iPhone, other laptops). The trouble is when i connected to the internet again it up dated windows and i cant restore back to the original date anymore as it has gone from the list.

I upgrade firmware from 1.0.3.5 to 1.0.4.17 and from this time I can't connect to any site time from to time. I have simple DHCP WAN connection between my provider and the router, my computer connects to router by wire (only Cisco SG 100D-08 stands between them). When I can't access sites I can access my router and the router needs much more time to answer to me via http. I don't use any vlans or internet access to my computer or router.

Also live in an old house with thick walls so the family are always complaining about the poor wireless connection.So I bought a new router, netgear DGN3500, which on the whole seemed pretty good out of the box, but now it is randomly dropping the internet connection. Sometimes this is solved by rebooting the router, but just now this didn't do it and only turning it off completely for 30" and turning it back on again gave me back my connection (DownStream Connection Speed 3680 kbps, UpStream Connection Speed 416 kbps - which is as good as it gets on the end of my phone line).

I have two computers connected with a wired connection and a couple of different devices that I connect with using the wireless connection. (Phone, Laptop, Ipad). The wired connections work fine but the wireless connection will only connect to the internet for a very short time (seconds) and then drop off. If I wait long enough I will pick it back up again. But again, for only a very short time. I have tried all the reboot procedures without any success. If I reboot the laptop, Ipad, etc., that seems to get me a connection, again for a very short time. I've checked the lights on the router and everything there says its OK. It seems to have to difference how far I am from the router. I've put the computer right next to it without success. Is the router going bad? It's only about 4 months old. Because I don't use the wireless feature often, I can't tell you if it ever worked or not. It seems to me like I was able to keep a connection when I first hooked it up but I'm not sure.

Problem:The end devices suddenly drop connection. Wired connection works just fine. The DROPPED device can not be reconnected. On MAC I get AUTH time out. I see the SSID being broadcasted from my HTC wireless analyster so radio may not be the problem. I changed to set the speed to G only or N only but not avail. ONLY way to recover from this is rebooting the router.

However we manage to restore the connection by reset password of the AD account that used in establish connection between AD and ACS.
We have a vpn setup in our office, the setup is done by our ISP and they said this is a webvpn.Since when I join the company the vpn between the head office and the site office is working fine and there is no changes made on the setup of the routers.
Then suddenly is not communicating... Our router Cisco 1800 from head office can ping the route Cisco 1900 on the site office, but the site office cannot ping.Why the router of head office can ping the site office router, and the site cannot? What is causing this situation?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI live in an area that has no cable or dsl internet available.The only options are basic dial up or wireless internet through one of the cell phone companies.Right now I use verizon with a usb adapter.I have had this since moving here.It gets good speed and I share it witht the other 4 pcs in my house through a 5 port switch using windows xp's ics(internet connection sharing)We mainly use the internet for playing games together online.Recently though i have wanted to upgrade to a wireless network.I feel as if I 'm living in the stone age because everyone else I know is using wireless.Last night I went out and purchased a netgear n750 duel band router(model number wndr4000-100nas) after reading several guides online about how to set it up.It sounded easy enough but after 3 hours I still could not get it working.
Here is what I am trying to do.I want to basically turn the router into a switch by disabling it's routing function and let the pc that has the verizon wireless card be the host and hand out ip addresses to the other pcs.(like it is doing now)Problems I am having
1- keep getting the work offline popup when I click on anything in the router control panal(it say you are not connected to the internet would you like to connect or continue to work offline I hit work offline and it just pops up again when I click something else)
2- I think I found how to change the router's ip address and disable DHCP under lan controls but when I hit save it pops up saying I need to manually change my pc's ip address and it will not save.
I am using winxp32 sp3 and right now 5 gigabit wire lan cards.(though if I get this working I'm going to pick up wireless card for 4 of the pcs.)
