I turned on my computer one day and it gave me a error saying the card was not inserted. I powered the computer off/on a couple times, while trying different things, and it suddenly worked. The next day, it had the same issue again.
I tried reinstalling the card but it still had the same issue. I bought a new Netgear WN311B network card, same issue.
I plugged in a borrowed Linksys card, worked like a charm.
One thing I noticed was when I reinstalled the netgear card, it was numbered at the end of the in the device manager; Netgear #1, netgear #2, etc.. everytime I reinstalled it, the number would go up.

Ive been using my Sony Vaio laptop (windows 7) to connect to my uni halls internet connection by ethernet cable (and keysurf login) for months with no problems, now all of a sudden my ethernet cable is not being recognised. its not a problem with my connection or cable as other people's laptops work on it. and its not a problem with my hardware as my laptop works in other people's rooms. its just the combination of my laptop and my connection. My friend did something along the lines of resetting the IP address, but not really sure what he did. So i've done a full recovery of my computer.

I'm having problems with the wireless button after I took my laptop apart to clean. The wireless button won't switch on at all and doesn't light up. When I press fn f8 nothing happens. I'm not sure what I've done. The wires are correctly in place as far as I can tell. My usb devices- whenever I plug my Belkin usb internet adapter in I get an error noise (3 beeps) and the device does not power on. I tried another one (Cisco) from a different PC and got the same error. Tried this on all the ports and updated the drivers. All other USB devices work fine, tethering my phone to get internet for now. Had been using the device without problems for months until getting the error. The error started occurring when I unplugged it and plugged it back in. Using Windows 7 x64 on an HP Pavilion.
called my internet company yesterday with a problem that my internet was not working.. so we went through some steps and basically he had me remove the wireless cord from the router put it into my computer (at the time it wasn't working via that either) and reset my ip, it started working after that and he just said I must've gotten a faulty ip. I have a Dlink Dir-615 router and a Motorola SB6120 Modem. For some reason the router suddenly says it's receiving internet access from the modem. It has worked for several months beforehand. I tried another Dlink modem and got the same results. I have my computer hooked directly to the modem hence the ability to make this post.

I have a Netgear N300 wireless router. My laptop is Sonay Viao, running Windows 7. This morning my internet was unreliable, and dropping every minute or so. Trying to trouble shoot, I switched the router off then on again. Now I have no wireless signal between my laptop and router. The router doesn't seem to be recognising the security password. I have not changed the password - this is still the original password for the router. Other devices are still talking wirelessly to the router.

My pc is windows xp an has service pack 3, the adaptor is realtek RTL8168/8111 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC. I have 3 gig of memory and a very larg nvidia card. OK my pc has worked absolutely fine until this weekend when my sister came and her son was on my pc when everyone was in bed. He attempted to print of not less than 88!! pictures he had acquired from different sites but i had disconnected the printer so it didnt take place. When they left earlier today i switched on my pc and there was a virus alert so i ran a scan. These got put into the chest. I then attemtpted to close down the programmes that had come back up when i switched on and this is when it happened. The pc told me it was going to shut down and when it restarted i had not internet connection. I checked the modem and the ethernet light is out.
My dlink dir 628 wireless router suddenly stopped working yesterday. If I plug the ethernet cable directly into my computer and the internet works. I see the wireless profile in the options for the wireless internet, but when I try to connect, it is unable to do so.

I have had a setup in which my four DCS-930Ls transfer picture every 15 minutes over a Dovado-router connected to a mobile broadband modem. This has worked perfectly until this last night. No pictures are transferred and upon using the test FTP function the status page just says "Testing ...." forever. I've also tested e-mailing picture without success.
Up until about midnight tonight, my router, which has been plugged in to my cable modem, has been working fine for years, both wired and wirelessly. Suddenly, however, I went to log on to my desktop PC (wired connection; Windows 7), and I had no network connection. ipconfig indicated "media disconnected." My cable-based phone service (VOIP) is still working fine at this time.
First attempt - unplug router, wait 15 seconds, plug it back in. Still no good, though my network sharing center indicated that the network connection was appearing/disappearing every few seconds, never actually getting "internet" connectivity.
Second attempt - attempted to use a WIFI-based device (iPad), which could not see my home network by name at all.
Third attempt - reset both the cable modem and the router, bringing the cable modem up FIRST. Same results as the first attempt.
Fourth attempt - plug the wired PC directly into the cable modem - this worked fine and is how I am submitting this post as I type. So the cable modem is working properly.
Fifth attempt - look up the information on how to reset the router to factory defaults. Used a paperclip to depress the reset button for 10- and on a subsequent attempt, 30-seconds (no obvious "reset" blink pattern was observed). Plug PC back in to router. PC would not obtain any DHCP-based IP address and the network sharing center was still behaving as in the first attempt.
Sixth attempt - disconnect the cable modem uplink and see if I could get the local network functioning. Now I noticed that the LED patterns on the router were behaving as:
- Power and my PC's slot number lit - All lights lit - All lights off - Power and my PC's slot number lit - etc
A few days ago, my Linksys E3200 router stopped working suddenly for no reason. The SSID was still broadcasted for a few days, but no internet connection. after year and a half of using TL-WR741 ND router, it suddenly stop working during the night. I have no problems with router before this happened (I think only one or two reset in 1 year and 6 months). System led light does not flash (some sytem error) and I can't access to 192.168.1.1 router setup site. I tried almost everything, unplug power, reset etc. for almost 100 times, reconnect the router with modem and PC in all posible ways, but still can't establish connection or even access to router's setup. Obviusly internet works fine?
My M20 Valet Plus stopped working suddenly last night. Now no power lights will come on and it now longer transmitts as a connection point . No apparent sign that it's alive. I've owned it troublefree for just over a year, but it is out of warranty. Any way to tell if there is hope of reviving it or if I'm just out of luck? Nothing happened at my end to cause this -- no power interruptions or other odd occurrences.
A couple days ago I noticed that my wireless internet connection on my iPhone would cut in and out, then stopped all together. I also had no connection on my mac which is wired to the WRT110. I bypassed the WRT110 and then I had a connection on my Mac meaning the WRT110 is the problem. I haven't changed or added anything lately that could've caused this....
I have the Linksys WRT54G And it was working fine for years! Then today my computer shut down and when I turned it back on there was a connection but my computer was not responding to any commands. The icon shows full connectivity excellent connection. When I try to go to a web page it shows Connection Error and cannot get to any web pages.I am able to get on other wireless connections from neighbors but not mine. I have gone thru different directions on here and I am not technical and don't understand what is being said. I try to go to 192.168.1.1 and it asks for a password which I don't have. I have tried everything such as password and admin and get nothing.I am able to get my ip address and default gateway address and don't know the next step.
I have a dell studio 1558 laptop and it's got this Bluetooth problem. I use BT to connect to Internet through my phone as a modem. But sometimes it suddenly stops working and the BT icon vanishes from the taskbar. Every attempt to restart it by Wireless switch, or by restarting BT service/process fails. (this does not happen with WiFi, or any other connection though). The only way I get back Bluetooth ON again is if I put the system to sleep, or I shut down and Turn On (Hibernate, Restart, Log off doesn't work). And this happens more frequently while multitasking than normal use.
I am using Windows 7 Home premium (service pack 0).I have the latest Bluetooth module installed, latest system BIOS installed as available in the dell website.
My Wireless network suddenly dropped out and now wont pick up any wireless devices.
When I go into Manage hardware it comes up saying that the Drivers are not installed for my network Controller. Searching does not find any to install and due to just relocating I cant find my original Disks that came with the laptop.
So I am reduced to sitting next to the router and being hard wired for the internet.
Right now I have my computer (iMac early 2012 summer purchase) plugged directly into the wall via ethernet cable for internet access. I have only begun doing this in the past week because my E1200 wireless router has stopped working properly. I have reinstalled and reset to factory settings and set up with Cisco Connect and setup manually over the past week troubleshooting every possible way I have ever known how. My internet, obviously, is working. And when I set up the wireless network it connects properly and obtains an IP address and the lights on the back of the unit light up correspondingly and correct. But I cannot connect to the internet via the router, wirelessly or plugged directly into it. Yet when I take the internet cable and plug it straight into my computer it works.Mainly just need to know if this can be fixed or if I need to go return this unit and get a replacement. The router was purchased two months ago and has not had any issues since I first set it up until a couple of weeks ago and my phone is using up all of my cellular data plan without being connected to my wi-fi...
I have a Studio 1557 laptop (purchased in late December 2009) that all of a sudden has lost wireless connection to the internet. Went to use it last night (Thursday) for normal use and no wireless connection at all. Before this issue, there were no problems connecting thru wireless at all...in fact used it Wednesday evening for work/surfing and no problems whatsoever. We are using a Linksys 160N router...have 2 other computers and 2 iPod Touches that are connecting just fine, absolutely no problems. It can connect thru a wired connection with no problems but nothing thru wireless...this is a fairly new router, about 10 days old, but haven't had any issues with it since set-up.
I didn't have much of a chance to do anything about this last night or this morning. I really don't want to bother calling Dell Support either.

I have a dell vostro 1520 laptop. The wireless internet just stopped working. I reset the switch on the side and nothing. Why is the wifi not working? It only works through ethernet wire.
I pressed the reset button on my netgear router (WGR614 v7) and now the wireless light will not go on and i can't connect to it because I don't have a ethernet cable.
When I first got my Netgear N-150 router, the wireless speed on it was great. However several days passed and I started to notice the speed was decreasing; because I have HughesNet (I hate it) I thought this was the ISP's fault and called them and they said my speed had not gone down. During the day, the signal is fine and is at full bars and the speeds are OK. During the evening/night hours the connection becomes faulty and the laptop will disconnect from the network altogether. If I plug the ethernet cable directly into the router, the speed is OK also. I have taken the security off the connection to see if it will make any difference; it doesn't. I don't know if I need to buy a new router or what. I know my way around computers and routers (not entirely though) and I cannot figure it out. I have 2 laptops with Windows Vista both with home Premium.
I just installed DD-WRT, version DD-WRT v24-sp2 (03/18/12) std, in a Netgear router model # WNR-2000V3 and so far everything is running good except for the LAN ports which are not working. I don't know what settings I have to change to get it working and I tried a lot of options from the DD-WRT site. I want this router to be an access point but it seems like I can't use the LAN ports at all whatsoever. Could it be that this firmware is no good? If so, is there a way to revert back to the factory NetGear firmware?
