My Wireless network suddenly dropped out and now wont pick up any wireless devices.
When I go into Manage hardware it comes up saying that the Drivers are not installed for my network Controller. Searching does not find any to install and due to just relocating I cant find my original Disks that came with the laptop.
So I am reduced to sitting next to the router and being hard wired for the internet.
I have a Studio 1557 laptop (purchased in late December 2009) that all of a sudden has lost wireless connection to the internet. Went to use it last night (Thursday) for normal use and no wireless connection at all. Before this issue, there were no problems connecting thru wireless at all...in fact used it Wednesday evening for work/surfing and no problems whatsoever. We are using a Linksys 160N router...have 2 other computers and 2 iPod Touches that are connecting just fine, absolutely no problems. It can connect thru a wired connection with no problems but nothing thru wireless...this is a fairly new router, about 10 days old, but haven't had any issues with it since set-up.
I didn't have much of a chance to do anything about this last night or this morning. I really don't want to bother calling Dell Support either.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a dell studio 1558 laptop and it's got this Bluetooth problem. I use BT to connect to Internet through my phone as a modem. But sometimes it suddenly stops working and the BT icon vanishes from the taskbar. Every attempt to restart it by Wireless switch, or by restarting BT service/process fails. (this does not happen with WiFi, or any other connection though). The only way I get back Bluetooth ON again is if I put the system to sleep, or I shut down and Turn On (Hibernate, Restart, Log off doesn't work). And this happens more frequently while multitasking than normal use.
I am using Windows 7 Home premium (service pack 0).I have the latest Bluetooth module installed, latest system BIOS installed as available in the dell website.
Now that I have a Linksys N4200 router I want to upgrade the card that is in my 1735 Studio. Dell support suggested the 5100 Wireless-Network Mini-Card. That’sall well and good but looking at the picture on Dell site it is about half the size as the one that is in the computer which is a Dell Wireless 1397 WLAN MiniCard. I don't think the 5100 will bolt in the slot, too short.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI installed W8 on my Dell Studio 1735 computer. Wireless Internet access is very very slow. I have not this problem with W7 on the same computer. I tried it with an external Network cable. Very fast, 50mbps. I also tried it with an external USB Belkin wifi adaptor. It works fine. Computer has a Dell Wireless 1500 N WLAN Mini Card. Driver version:5.100.245.20 Date 2012-03-13. I cannot find any better driver.
I have one more problem that I don't have with W7. I cannot rate the computer. The Windows experience index cannot go past the test of Direct3D 10 Texture Load Assesment.
I had to re-install Vista on my Dell Studio 1535, and site the re-install i've not been able to connect to wi-fi because Vista apparently doesnt seem to recognise the wireless adapter. In Device Manager it lists the generic "Network Controller" and has a question mark next to it.
I've installed Dell System software, Dell Notebook System software, Quickset, chipset drivers and the R206848 file that includes the 1397 drivers, yet its still not recognised.
My laptop simply decided to stop connecting to my wireless network.I'm at a loss as to why and what to do. All other devices in my house are getting a perfect signal from the network but my computer either can't find it, or only has 1 green bar and says it cannot connect. I've tried a system restore, I've tried to troubleshoot on my computer and can't figure it out. The weird thing is it is picking up other wireless signals fine (like my neighbors, ect) but just not my home one. Again, it was working one minute, then simply stopped working and hasn't been able to connect at all.
View 14 Replies View RelatedIt was fine, online games like ARMA2 and Everquest2 worked w/o fail (for hours and hours).
My son went to get on one day and the ARMA game would let him sign in, then drop him. I told him it was the game as it is a bastardized program from several programmers and i just assumed it was a software issue. Then I decide to get on Everquest2 and it does the same thing to me, you log in, you get started and 1 min later in drops you. Both his game and mine give you a "server not found" error even when you were just online and playing. Everquest even starts looking for "log in servers" 1-6 and fails on all. I can log off and get right in again, but only for 1 to 2 min. then dropped.
My other internet connections work fine. Sony PS3, no problems....my wifes Dell laptop, no problems, my other Dell (while playing ARMA2 and Everquest2) no problem.

I got the computer in 09 with windows vista and the internet worked correctly. i upgraded to windows 7 in 2010 or 11 and the wireless was still working. Last year all of a sudden my wireless internet stopped working and had to use a cable to connect to my router. A few months went by and i randomly got my wireless internet connection back for about 2-3 months now all of a sudden my wireless is out again. i ran tests in other threads posted on this subject and the only way they got it to work was to buy a usb connection. is this the only way im going to be able to get wireless back?
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy hard drive recently failed, and I installed a new hdd in my Studio XPS 1647. Everything seems to be working like a charm... except the wireless. I'm running Windows 7 64Bit, for your reference. I went to the Dell driver site, and ignorant, originally downloaded everything that seemed to be relevant concerning the networking drivers. When that didn't work, I came upon an article that gave the correct order of driver installations. I re-installed in that order, albeit using the download manager. No luck. I've run Dell Diagnostics, and the only problem it sees is USB status (but USB is working great... I've printed and access my external hd without problem)... no problems showing with networking. Under the device manager, Base System Device (2), Intel Centrino Advanced-N WiMax6250 and Network Controller all have (!) marks. I actually un-installed all of those, and re-installed the network drives for a 3rd time. Still no go.

I just received my XPS 16 and I was informed that it had a built in Bluetooth. I purchased a bluetooth mouse and tried to use it, but I am unable to get the computer to turn on the Bluetooth device. Had Dell support look at it, but the guy passed me off to someone else. So I still do not have this working. Is there an updated driver required to get this Bluetooth working.

I'm having a really difficult time getting to find the right drivers for a poweredge 1950. I know it has 2 broadcom on-board NIC's and they work fine in Windows 7 so I feel I should be able to find drives for Vista bus 64. I tried downloading the drivers from the dell site and they turned out to be drives for server 2003 and 2k8, and wouldn't work with Vista.
how to identify the chipset of the onboard NIC's so I can do a better search for the drivers? I tried running Belarc advisor which usually gives pretty detailed info but it didn't even mention the broadcom's.

I have a Dell Studio XPS 16 laptop. I'm very annoyed by how my wireless WLAN card won't turn on.
I've tried pressing the WLAN enable key above the keypad next to the other media keys and it won't show it as being enabled.
I've tried the Fn+F2 combination and it doesn't seem to do anything. It keeps saying that the WLAN card is still not enabled!
I've tried rebooting my laptop as well and it seems to acknowledge the existance of the card
Sometimes the connection will be lost altogether and when I try to reconnect it says "unable to connect" and I have to wait 5/10 mins until the laptop connects it's self again automatically.Other times, the signal strength shows as full (in the bottom right) but a yellow triangle appears with an exclamation mark in it and the status reads "Currently connected to Talk Talk 388380 No internet access". It stays like this for several minutes, then goes back to normal!?I've recently had fiber optic broadband installed, but I don't think this is the issue as it was happening before.Even when the internet is working, the connection speed is really poor; YouTube videos constantly buffer, even on low quality.I've plugged in the ethernet cable today and it appears to work fine, so I think it must be an issue with the laptop[CODE]

View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently replaced my hard driveon my Dell Studio 1749 and have installed all of the disks that came with my laptop, but for some reason I don't have a wireless network adapter to connect to available wif (I had wireless prior to the hard drive replacement). The only network adapter I have in device manager is Realtek RTL816D/8111D Family PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC (NDIS 6.20) I'm fairly new to this so not sure if there is an easy fix to this.

The computer detects the 2.4 GHZ network seamlessly. It is unable to detect the 5 GHZ network.
I have a NETGEAR RangeMax Dual Band Wireless-N Router.
I have no problems connecting to this router with a Studio 15 laptop that I bought in December 2009. The Studio 15 can detect both the 2.4 and 5 GHZ seamlessly. I also have no problems connecting at 270 MB with a work Lenovo XP laptop with a Netgear Wireless-N USB stick.
I have a Studio XPS 1340. Running Vista. Sat evening I was on the net, and had left the machine for a while. I refreshed a page using F5 after 10 mins inactivity, and the WIFI had dropped. I have the Dell Wireless 1515 Wireless N adaptor. I cannot find any wireless networks, and the error message I get is to "Turn on wireless capability".
On the Studio XPS 13 there is no wireless switch, to turn on/off the wireless. I've tried to turn on the wireless using Fn + F2, and I have also unchecked the "allow computer to turn off this device to save power." box. rebooted any further suggestions? I've disabled and enabled the wireless network card a couple of times, drivers seem to be working correctly. when I try to update the drivers I'm told they are the most up to date drivers available.
Might this be McAfee related? Have I inadvertently turned off the wireless using a shortcut key by accident?
I have a Dell Studio 1555 and normally my wireless connection works perfectly. It runs on Vista and I bought it in August 2009. Just recently I went to a friends house, and my wireless detected their router, but where normally it shows connection signal bars, it showed a red 'X' and wouldn't allow me to connect. It wasn't their router because their wireless on their computers were connecting to it fine. Then I went back to my house, my wireless was working fine, and connected automatically right away. The next weekend I went to my parents' house, where I have brought my computer and was able to connect to their wireless countless times in the past, did the same exact thing as when I was at my friends' house. Normally it will detect their router by their name because that is what they have it set at, but now it can only detect it as linksys. And it will not connect. I have no idea what to do because as soon as I go back to my house, my computer is able to connect to my wireless

I am having trouble connecting to my wireless network sometimes it shows up sometimes it does not but when it is there it sometimes has full bars and others has none. I have tried resolving the the issues through windows and it either says windows cannot resolve your wireless connectivity issue or it says to unplug router for 10 seconds blah blah blah. sometimes it says there is an issue at the access point or wireless adapter. It is really getting frustrating and everything else that is wireless works in my house. I have a dell studio 1745 and windows 7 on it.

Now my wireless connects, but is extremely slow. I am using a Dell wireless 1397 WLAN mini-card. I ran a hardware diagnostic and nothing is wrong with the hardware. I also ran a connection diagnostic, and it continually fails when it gets to either Gateway IP, or Internet IP. The driver is fully upgraded, and I have ran Malwarebytes and have not found any malware problems. how to get my wireless working properly again.
