Dell Studio Xps 16 - Wireless Internet Stopped Working?
Aug 29, 2012I got the computer in 09 with windows vista and the internet worked correctly. i upgraded to windows 7 in 2010 or 11 and the wireless was still working. Last year all of a sudden my wireless internet stopped working and had to use a cable to connect to my router. A few months went by and i randomly got my wireless internet connection back for about 2-3 months now all of a sudden my wireless is out again. i ran tests in other threads posted on this subject and the only way they got it to work was to buy a usb connection. is this the only way im going to be able to get wireless back?

They wanted a fresh install with there own windows 7 disk (Which is in perfect condition) The problem I'm having is when the windows installation gets to a certain point i.e Completing Installation the resolution changes (which i know is normal) And then crashes!

Feb 13, 2012I purchased a Dell Studio 1737 about 2 years ago, and have not had any problems with my wireless service until about a week ago. Now my wireless connects, but is extremely slow. I am using a Dell wireless 1397 WLAN mini-card. I ran a hardware diagnostic and nothing is wrong with the hardware. I also ran a connection diagnostic, and it continually fails when it gets to either Gateway IP, or Internet IP. The driver is fully upgraded, and I have ran Malwarebytes and have not found any malware problems. how to get my wireless working properly again.

I turned it on today and it automatically connected to my home network as usual and when I hover over the network icon it says there is Internet Access but when I open Firefox it can not connect to any websites. When I run the automatic troubleshooter, it does not detect any problems with the connectivity.

Dell :: Studio 1737 / 1397 WLAN - MS Virtual Wi-Fi Miniport Adapter Dead After Hibernate
Oct 22, 2011I have a Dell Studio Laptop 1737 with Dell Wireless 1397 WLAN mini-card and Windows 7 home premium 64 bit. Some days ago, I bought a HP WiFi mouse (model LQ083AA). This mouse connects via WiFi and you need no USB-port for a transmitter. Very practical - if it would work probably.First I installed the SW delivered with the mouse. During this installation, also the "Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter" was installed. The mouse connects via this adapter. And everything worked fine. The mouse was found, a connection was established and the mouse worked like a charm. Until I went to sleep. As usually, I hibernated the notebook. And after waking up the notebook from hibernate, the mouse did not work anymore. I found out it is because the "Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter" does not wake up correctly. After a reboot, everything works again. And if I use the HP software to reestablish the connection, I receive the error "SoftAP is not available".
I tried several things:I un-installed the "Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter" in the device manager and checked for new HW to install it again. But after it was installed again, it still did not work.In the device manager, I disabled "Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter" and enabled it again - but it stayed disabled.I updated the driver.I changed energy management, allowed the computer to switch of power of the adapter resp. disallowed that.Nothing I did worked. After hibernate, the "Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter" is "dead". Only a reboot works.The WiFi mouse is such a great Idea, but the "Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter" is such a mess.

Nov 10, 2009I just received my XPS 16 and I was informed that it had a built in Bluetooth. I purchased a bluetooth mouse and tried to use it, but I am unable to get the computer to turn on the Bluetooth device. Had Dell support look at it, but the guy passed me off to someone else. So I still do not have this working. Is there an updated driver required to get this Bluetooth working.

Feb 18, 2013My hard drive recently failed, and I installed a new hdd in my Studio XPS 1647. Everything seems to be working like a charm... except the wireless. I'm running Windows 7 64Bit, for your reference. I went to the Dell driver site, and ignorant, originally downloaded everything that seemed to be relevant concerning the networking drivers. When that didn't work, I came upon an article that gave the correct order of driver installations. I re-installed in that order, albeit using the download manager. No luck. I've run Dell Diagnostics, and the only problem it sees is USB status (but USB is working great... I've printed and access my external hd without problem)... no problems showing with networking. Under the device manager, Base System Device (2), Intel Centrino Advanced-N WiMax6250 and Network Controller all have (!) marks. I actually un-installed all of those, and re-installed the network drives for a 3rd time. Still no go.

Aug 28, 2012I have a dell studio 1558 laptop and it's got this Bluetooth problem. I use BT to connect to Internet through my phone as a modem. But sometimes it suddenly stops working and the BT icon vanishes from the taskbar. Every attempt to restart it by Wireless switch, or by restarting BT service/process fails. (this does not happen with WiFi, or any other connection though). The only way I get back Bluetooth ON again is if I put the system to sleep, or I shut down and Turn On (Hibernate, Restart, Log off doesn't work). And this happens more frequently while multitasking than normal use.
I am using Windows 7 Home premium (service pack 0).I have the latest Bluetooth module installed, latest system BIOS installed as available in the dell website.

Jun 5, 2009My Wireless network suddenly dropped out and now wont pick up any wireless devices.
When I go into Manage hardware it comes up saying that the Drivers are not installed for my network Controller. Searching does not find any to install and due to just relocating I cant find my original Disks that came with the laptop.
So I am reduced to sitting next to the router and being hard wired for the internet.

Feb 25, 2010I have a Studio 1557 laptop (purchased in late December 2009) that all of a sudden has lost wireless connection to the internet. Went to use it last night (Thursday) for normal use and no wireless connection at all. Before this issue, there were no problems connecting thru wireless at all...in fact used it Wednesday evening for work/surfing and no problems whatsoever. We are using a Linksys 160N router...have 2 other computers and 2 iPod Touches that are connecting just fine, absolutely no problems. It can connect thru a wired connection with no problems but nothing thru wireless...this is a fairly new router, about 10 days old, but haven't had any issues with it since set-up.
I didn't have much of a chance to do anything about this last night or this morning. I really don't want to bother calling Dell Support either.

I have the latest driver (6.2.0.9603), and now, when i try to install it again it asks me to turn the BT on, although it is on (enabled in BIOS). When I check the device manager under bluetooth radios, it's called "Generic Bluetooth Adapter" and it's status is "This device cannot start (code 10)". The bluetooth icon doesn't appear in the task bar nor in control panel anymore.
The bluetooth services @ administrative tools are "started" and "automatic".
I had this problem twice before, fixed it using system restore and by installing "windows mobile device center". These solutions are not working now..

I can't connect to the internet!In Network Connections, it continually says that "Windows cannot find any networks". And from some suggestions I found on the net, I tried ipconfig/all in the comand promt and it says "media disconnected".

Then I get this following message:"Solution Found: Address a problem with your WLAN card.Your WLAN card has stopped working properly. This is a network adapter that allows your computer to connect to a wireless network. To find out if an updated version of your WLAN card is available, contact your device or computer manufacturer."The strange thing is even though I get this message I am still able to connect to the internet via a wireless network. So there is no problem as such it is just annoying to keep getting this message when Windows starts up.I have checked on the DELL Support website and I do have the most up-to-date driver already (Or I think I do).

I was missing some network adapters which I have reinstalled, and the hard wired connection is now working again, but wireless will not get past the acquiring network address phase. I tried the ipconfig /all and it shows my IP address as 0.0.0.0 and the same on the subnet mask. it says the autoconfig is enabled and dhcp is enabled. My HP laptop is connecting to the wireless network just fine.
