When I go into Manage hardware it comes up saying that the Drivers are not installed for my network Controller. Searching does not find any to install and due to just relocating I cant find my original Disks that came with the laptop.
So I am reduced to sitting next to the router and being hard wired for the internet.

Feb 28, 2012Now that I have a Linksys N4200 router I want to upgrade the card that is in my 1735 Studio. Dell support suggested the 5100 Wireless-Network Mini-Card. That’sall well and good but looking at the picture on Dell site it is about half the size as the one that is in the computer which is a Dell Wireless 1397 WLAN MiniCard. I don't think the 5100 will bolt in the slot, too short.

Oct 29, 2012I installed W8 on my Dell Studio 1735 computer. Wireless Internet access is very very slow. I have not this problem with W7 on the same computer. I tried it with an external Network cable. Very fast, 50mbps. I also tried it with an external USB Belkin wifi adaptor. It works fine. Computer has a Dell Wireless 1500 N WLAN Mini Card. Driver version:5.100.245.20 Date 2012-03-13. I cannot find any better driver.
I have one more problem that I don't have with W7. I cannot rate the computer. The Windows experience index cannot go past the test of Direct3D 10 Texture Load Assesment.
Dell Studio 1558 - Keeps Dropping Wireless Connection?
Dec 12, 2012Sometimes the connection will be lost altogether and when I try to reconnect it says "unable to connect" and I have to wait 5/10 mins until the laptop connects it's self again automatically.Other times, the signal strength shows as full (in the bottom right) but a yellow triangle appears with an exclamation mark in it and the status reads "Currently connected to Talk Talk 388380 No internet access". It stays like this for several minutes, then goes back to normal!?I've recently had fiber optic broadband installed, but I don't think this is the issue as it was happening before.Even when the internet is working, the connection speed is really poor; YouTube videos constantly buffer, even on low quality.I've plugged in the ethernet cable today and it appears to work fine, so I think it must be an issue with the laptop[CODE]

Dec 8, 2012I have a Studio Xps435MT connected to the internet through a 2Wire DSL modum using an ethernet cable. Installed a new hard drive last week after drive failure, Reinstalled Dell drivers and utilities using disc, then operating system, software, updated drivers, installed SP2.
Internet connection worked fine since then. Yesterday and from then on, Windows and modum will not recognize network adapters so not internet availability although device manager shows them working. Modum does work with my laptop so I can access internet through that.
Network and sharing shows unidentified network and limited connectivity IPv4 and 6, on IPv4 no default gateway or DNS server identified, no IPv6 gateway. Tried reinstalling modum but shows no network adapters identified.
Windows system info shows that intel 82567LF 2GB connection installed and reset today, default IP gateway not available.

Apr 11, 2011I have a Dell Studio 1555 and normally my wireless connection works perfectly. It runs on Vista and I bought it in August 2009. Just recently I went to a friends house, and my wireless detected their router, but where normally it shows connection signal bars, it showed a red 'X' and wouldn't allow me to connect. It wasn't their router because their wireless on their computers were connecting to it fine. Then I went back to my house, my wireless was working fine, and connected automatically right away. The next weekend I went to my parents' house, where I have brought my computer and was able to connect to their wireless countless times in the past, did the same exact thing as when I was at my friends' house. Normally it will detect their router by their name because that is what they have it set at, but now it can only detect it as linksys. And it will not connect. I have no idea what to do because as soon as I go back to my house, my computer is able to connect to my wireless

Nov 3, 2011I have a dell studio 1557 running windows 7. I live in my own apartment with roommates in college, and i've been having some very bad issues with slow internet or constant down time. Here are some key points:
- I have Charter internet.
- My 2 other roommates have NO ISSUES.
- My laptop works in my family's house. They have Comcast. I went on vacation a week ago and there were no issues on the hotel internet. No issues from the school's internet.
- I have been using my android phone as a tether because the internet is more stable. It's slow, but consistent for the most part. This is extra frustrating because I shouldnt have slow internet. And I sure as hell shouldnt be paying for internet I can't even enjoy.
- Charter has replaced 2 routers. Both are brand new. They are net gear. Charter is clueless to my problem.
- I have reinstalled windows. Dell told me to try safe mode. I noticed NO ISSUES WITH STANDARD BROWSING IN SAFE MODE. This leads me to believe it is a software issue.
- The connection is non-existent when coming out of hibernation or rebooting. In the morning, i have to boot up, make my coffee, and only then will it give me access to the internet. Otherwise, page timeouts. It can take up to 10 minutes for the internet to work.
- Youtube and general multitasking is very bad. Slower connection than ever, page timeouts, and I often need to wait for a video/music to buffer before I begin enjoying it.
My laptop has been this way for upwards of 6 months.
Dell Pc Studio 450s Will Not Recognize Network Connection After Power Outage?
Sep 21, 2011Dell pc studio 450s will not recognize network connection after power outage. Have run diagnostic fix multiple times but to avail. I have roadrunner cable broadband connected to voyage router and then to wireless router. Wireless router and vonage works (as evidenced by this email using iPad)
Have already reset everything multiple times including unplugging modem and pc.
From what I understand the pc is getting gatewayaddress or does not recognize.

Apr 15, 2013I have a Dell Studio 17 with a wireless internet problem. The wireless internet just stopped working with a message error "modem has been removed". When I try to plug in to a hard wire connection I can connect, but the 3G network want allow me to go on online without the above error messageand a message asking me to select the service you want to connect too, yet it still tells me that I am connected.

Dec 25, 2011Computer: Laptop Dell Studio 1555 Dual Core: W 7 64 bit, router Sitecom WL-351. Max. connection 120 Mbit. Speed normally approx 100 Mbiton the Dell desktops. Connection speed on the Laptop Studio used to be 60 Mbit wireless . Haven’t checked speed for many week but yesterday foundout that the speed dropped to 12 MB. Wired the laptop to the router, connection wend up to 98 Mbit.
Wireless again the speed dropped to 12 MBit. Checked the wireless connection with another laptop and it went up again to 70 Mbit. What could be wrong on the Studio 1555?
Cleaned the computer, no malware, Mode AP, Channel 11, WPA2
The card Broadcom driver 10-01-2008, version 5.30.21.0
The card works but the 12 Mbit should be at least 60 Mbit.
Dell :: Inspiron 17r Keeps Losing Wi-Fi Connection
May 3, 2013i have had my inspiron 17r since this christmas. however, after about a month of having my computer i noticed something that it did that was very annoying. the wifi connection is randomly lost for about 2 minutes and then re connects. during that time i cannot load any pages or anything. when it first started doing this, it would only happen about once every 2 hours, but it progressively got worse and worse to the point that i cannot even access the internet with it anymore. i boot it up and it has no connection then connects to wifi for 5 seconds and then loses it again. heres the deal though, this only happens with my computer out of all of my family's computers. i have a very good wifi connection because the connection says "good" whenever it does connect, and this problem never happened with my last computer which was a toshiba. i know for a fact it isn't a problem with my home wifi because i have brought my computer on a trip across the country before and it still happened. Dell worker before gave me a link to update some drivers of which i cant remember. this rectify the problem a little for maybe a week or two and then it started doing it again.

Sep 29, 2012I am having a very frustrating problem with my new Dell XPS 8500's wireless connection - Dell Wireless 1703 802.11b/g/n (2.4GHz). Basically, I am losing my network connection every couple of minutes. The process goes something like this:
1) Not connected - Connections are available
2) My network disappears completely (yet all other local networks are still visible) for a matter of seconds then reappears
3) I try to connect and receive "Windows was unable to connect"
4) I press "Troubleshoot problems"
5) "Resolving problems", "Resetting network adapter", "Troubleshooting has completed"
6) Problem with wireless adapter or access point - Fixed
7) I am reconnected to the network/internet with a full 5 bars
8) Process repeats itself five minutes later
I have been able to come to a conclusion that is not the adapter, or the router, but some sort of compatibility issue as:
a) I have tried connecting to a different wireless network and it has worked fine
b) There are other systems in the household that connect to the network and are not experiencing the same issue
It is not a distance issue as router is 2 meters away from the adapter with nothing in between, the other systems that use the network are much further away.
What I have tried so far: - Changing the channel from "Auto" to a set number
The router is a Belkin N300 Wireless N.
Dell Pe2950 - Losing Partial Network Connection?
Jun 28, 2012We are running Sharepoint 2007(sp3 and wss sp3) on a dell pe2950 running Server 2003 std x64 sp2, 4 146gb 15k sas raid 10, 16gb ram, dual xeon 516 3ghz. the network card is a quad port intel 1gb pci-x server nic. Was running broadcom net xtreme dual port onboard, and had the same issue.
We are losing partial network connection, after about 14-15 hours of the machine working correctly. What happens is that it cannot ping, or access, any machines not on the same network segment(this machine is on 192.168.3.* and cannot access machines, or be accessed from 192.168.2.*, 192.168.4.*, etc, etc). what i have found is that when i try to ping 192.168.2.210(our dns, dhcp server). its times out about 20 times and replies 2-3 times, and then repeats the cycle all over again. i have done a winsock reset on the machine, and sometimes it starts back up and works again, sometimes it doesn't.

Oct 12, 2012I have an Inspiron 1520 which, approximately once per day, is losing the network connection. Basically I can be right in the middle of something then all of a sudden anything internet related (eg browser, email, skype, other software) stops working, and then a few seconds later the little globe disappears from my network icon at the bottom of my screen.
The only way to get my connection back is to reboot my computer. I've tried the "repair connection" tool, but that doesn't work. I've tried waiting, but that is futile (and impractical)
This happens whether I am directly attached to the router via cable, or I am going through wireless.
Other devices are unaffected at the time. It is only my computer that loses the connection. The two phones, two other laptops, desktop and tablet all remain connected. (Hmmm - I seem to have far too many devices!)
Do I have a failing part? Or is this maybe a software issue? I'm thinking perhaps it is software because after a reboot everything returns to normal and the problem tends to go away for 24 hours or so.

Aug 27, 2012dell 1520w-win7 64 bit pro version - installed new hd. Internet connection via wireless losing signal regularly since new hard drive install.."DELL 1520 oem Broadcom Wireless not working. Tested using Win7 onboard system. Says everything was ok. Yet the wireless is not "on" on the 1520 laptop. Purchased a new one; had no OEM software. Purchased Win764 bit Pro version. Installed it; finally found the original OEM resource disk from Dell and installed it. I downloaded a later version of the driver and yet it is not working.Is there a problem created by Win7 installation? How can I wake up the wireless so it can wirelessly receive and send items to my Smart Phone."

Jan 23, 2012I reformatted my HDD (needed to do that anyway) and re-installed Windows 7 and all drivers (Chipset 1st) from my Dell CD after messing up a recovery test.
Everything seemed fine. But now, when I am surfing the Internet, I sometimes lose the connection. The icon in the Taskbar has a yellow exclamation point. (This does not happen in Slackware on the same machine, just in Windows 7.)
The first time this happened, I couldn't ping my router, so I checked all cables, cable modem, and router. But they were all fine and my other (really old desktop running Puppy Linux) was still connected fine and could surf to new web pages.
I did "ipconfig /release" and "ipconfig /renew" on the Dell in Windows 7 and the NIC got the correct IP address and gateway. Now I could ping the router, but I could not ping the Internet, which didn't make any sense, since the other computer was accessing the Internet just fine on the same router! (No IP address confilict exists, and gateway was correct on both machines.) I tried updating the driver, but no new drivers were found. This first time, the issue was resolved by rebooting Windows 7. I also unchecked the setting to turn off the NIC to save power. (I just checked the USB hubs per another post, and it's also unchecked.)
The second time this happened, "ipconfig /renew" failed! I set everything manually (including DNS servers), and on reboot, it still wasn't working. I did a complete shutdown of the computer and startup, now it works again.
So here I am looking for a new driver (64-bit, signed). Not only is there not a new driver...they don't even list the current driver! The only one listed is from March 2010, my driver is June 2011. Current driver is version 7.46.610.2011. Where is there a newer Realtek driver? And why are this things so buggy more than a year after 7 came out, especially if these are supposedly signed by Microsoft?
Dell Studio Wifi Is Not Connecting
Jul 28, 2012I have been suffering with WiFi problem since last week, I am not able to connect to WiFi but all connections are visible. I called up my ISP guy to replace the modem but still I was not able to connect to. Yesterday I called up dell (my system is under complete cover), they have tried several things and I was sitting next to my internet modem It got connected. Then to be ensured I restarted the system and my laptop got connected to WiFi. When I moved bit far away from WiFi again the same issue I am not able to connect to.

Nov 10, 2009I just received my XPS 16 and I was informed that it had a built in Bluetooth. I purchased a bluetooth mouse and tried to use it, but I am unable to get the computer to turn on the Bluetooth device. Had Dell support look at it, but the guy passed me off to someone else. So I still do not have this working. Is there an updated driver required to get this Bluetooth working.

Mar 12, 2013WiFi issues with his Dell Studio 1749. He has a Siemens SE587 ADSL modem/router which supports Mixed, B_only, G_only WiFi modes. The laptop has a Dell wireless 1397 WLAN mini-card which supports Loose 11h, Loose 11h+d, and Strict 11h WiFi modes. No matter what combination of modes I configure in the router and the laptop the wireless connection on the laptop only ever comes up as 1MBps or 2MBps (full strength signal, laptop right next to router). By contrast my ageing Dell Vostro 1700 always connects to the same router at 54MBps.
So I'm guessing that there is some incompabitility between the router and the laptop. We're happy to replace the router, especially as recently the ADSL side of it appears to have gone a bit flaky. I've scoured the 'net and cannot find any router which claims to support 802.11h, so (a) what should I buy and (b) how can I be sure it will work at a sensible speed with this laptop given that the one we currently have won't?

I tried to run it, but .. I don't know, button doesn't work.
Now, I'm not sure - hardware problem or linux/driver problem. Wifi light is off and I'cant even launch it.

May 22, 2010 I have a Dell Studio XPS 16 laptop. I'm very annoyed by how my wireless WLAN card won't turn on.
I've tried pressing the WLAN enable key above the keypad next to the other media keys and it won't show it as being enabled.
I've tried the Fn+F2 combination and it doesn't seem to do anything. It keeps saying that the WLAN card is still not enabled!
I've tried rebooting my laptop as well and it seems to acknowledge the existance of the card
