I have a dell vostro 1000 laptop. I upgraded my pc from xp to vista ultimate and lost wifi and internet connections. I really could use some help in trying to get my connections back. I hope I don't have to buy another wireless card.
View 1 RepliesI've had my Vostro 1000 Laptop for almost a year now. I had to reload the O/S. I put all the CDs in and downloaded all the drives, but now I don't show the WLAN card/connection.. nothing.
I can't connect to the internet and when Iook at the network adapters it only shoes the Broadcom 440x 10/100 intergrated controller.. My modem is only showing Conexant HDA D330 MDC v.92 modem.
I had the internal wireless with my laptop when it was given to me as a gift... and have been able to connect via wifi, etc.. but since reloading the O/S and all drivers, etc.. I don't have internet? Can't find this wireless connection?
I have problem of dell wireless my notebook is VOSTRO 1000 i installed all wireless drivers and still have the problem. Wireless icon is disappear and see error message that tells like this:

I have two XPS 15 (L502x) laptops (purchased in March '12) with Intel Wifi link 1000 BGN adapters. On a regular basis both laptops lose their connection to the internet (via FIOS), at the same time. I'm convinced that is not FIOS or my router. I have a Dell STUDIO 8100, an iPhone and iPad, and these wireless devices do not lose their connections. Sometimes I'm able to resolve the issue by using "troubleshooting" via the adapter, often restarting the laptop and/or the router is the only way to resolve my problem. I've run the Dell Support software, it indicates no drivers are available for update, so I assume I'm current.I've read about turning off 802.11n, I've read about problems w/ power management and conflicts with wireless.
View 10 Replies View RelatedWell I'm typing from my tablet right now because for the 20th+ time, the Centrino 1030 card on my Vostro 3450 isn't connecting to hotel's wireless. Other places I have encountered it to have connection problems is colleges, universities, coffee shops, etc. It is also slow as molasses in my home too.
I have read other posts indicating similar problems without resolutions on the Vostro 3450. I am planning on replacing it with the BEST WLAN card there is. It seems a bit labor intensive from the service manual but doable. Has there been any "for sure" fix with the 1030 card?
The 1030 card is so incredibly bad that I am able to get 3/5 bars on my home network being outside while my Vostro can't even pick it up.

Other computers in the house are fine with wireless and the direct connection.This computer I am working on is the one directly connected (not wireless).I tried the connection on other computers and it works.When troubleshooting, it indicates it lost the drivers so we downloaded the correct drivers and installed them on the computer. It indicates it has the updated drivers now. Funny thing is when you start of the computer the error message on the screen is Installation or Upgrade Error A problem occurred during the upgrade process.you must restart your computer. After it restarts, the Webroot upgrade resumes.I am concerned as my daughters computer has the same error message but her Internet connection still works.Seemed to me that Webroot could be a potential problem. Since we can't download the latest version (no internet and can't use disc we have as it tells us it is outdated) I tried to uninstall using WMPinfo.xml to finish the uninstall.I got an error that indicated - "The InstallAware Wizard for Webroot Software has failed: "WRConsumerService stop failed with error 2 and kill failed with error 128". Also, I am running connectify(internet sharing program), a virtual wifi router and I can connect devices to it, but they cannot get internet through it (even when my laptop gets it through Ethernet). When I connect directly from the modem to the laptop via the modem it's fine. My problem is that I bought an Advantek wireless router which a friend tried to install, I'm not sure if he was successful at any point as it was some time ago. However, I am now trying to set the wireless connection up so that I can surf on the laptop and my girlfriend on her ipad in separate rooms. Until recently everything was fine but now there is an excellent connection with my new TP-Link TL-WR940N wireless N router but no internet access. The TP-Link router replace a D-Link DIR-655 wireless router which I thought was the problem. I have internet access within Safe mode with networking. Disabling Microsoft security essentials makes no difference nor does removing and re-establishing the network profile. I have internet access via the wireless router and an Android tablet as well as internet access via the wireless router and an internet radio. I suspect there is a (relatively new) configuration problem with the Vostro 230.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Vostro 460 with 4GB RAM running the latest version of Windows 7 Professional (64-bit). So far it’s been ultra-reliable. It, and two other laptops, are connected via network cables to a D-Link wireless ADSL modem/router (DSL-G604T).
However, during the last three weeks when I wake up the computer from hibernation, I am unable to connect to the Internet. The network connection icon states “Not connected. No connections are available”.
The only way I can resume my Internet access is to either re-boot the computer or, more often, turn the computer off and then turn it on again. Sometime the re-booting or switching off and on takes several attempts until the computer re-connects to the Internet. Today, it took 20 re-starts!I also have a netbook which connects to the Internet and my brother’s computer also has no trouble connecting to the Internet using the same modem.
Today after I restarted my laptop (Dell vostro 1400 running windows), I found that I can't open any pages or sites. My wireless utility icon tells me that my laptop is connected to my router, but neither of my browsers (chrome or firefox) will load anything. However, if I turn off my wireless (there's a switch that I can trigger) and try to load a page immediately after turning it back on, then a page will load, though anything after that will not. I'm positive that it's not my router or my internet because my computer and iPod touch connect perfectly fine, it's just my laptop will not.I thought that I might have accidentally gotten malware so I ran malwarebytes in safe mode and it found one Trojan, which I removed afterwards, though I don't remember what it's name or type was. I restarted my laptop afterwards hoping that removing the Trojan would work but I'm still having the same problem.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a Vostro 3300, which was working very well, and when I upgraded my OS from Win7 to Win8 my internet speed through wireless connection became very low, I checked for a driver update but did not find any that is compatible with windows 8. I also tried some old Windows 7 drivers with and without "compatibility Mode" but still not working. I should also mention that when I connect to the internet through Ethernet, I get the full speed.

On the other hand, wireless internet works fine at my lab (here : 802.11g, unsecured hotspot). Installed latest drivers and did even a clean re-installation (Windows 7 ultimate or professional) - problem remained.

Daughter is at college with brand new Vostro 3450. Was working on school network during summer but drops the connection multiple times during the day. She runs the Troubleshooting which then allows her to connect and 30 minutes later the connection is dropped again. The laptop works fine when connected to the internet via the ethernet cable. Here is what has been done by the IT support at the school.
1 - Deleted the Intel wireless utility as they thought it was "fighting" with the Windows software for control over the wireless.
2 - Increased the power for the wireless card to "high performance".
3 - Reinstalled Windows 7 to eliminate that there is a software issue.
4 - Replaced the Intel Wireless Card with new part sent by Dell.
Now the IT supports recommendation is to "get a new system" and that perhaps the Vostro's wireless card is "not compatible with their network". For Dell computers they sell the Latitude to the students.
My daugther likes the Vostro. She doesn't want to give it up. Wants the system to work. She had the laptop during the summer session and had problems with connection. The Windows software was reinstalled thinking there was a virus (although no evidence of one) and then she had no connection problems for the whole summer. She came home for 2 weeks and returned back to school and then the system would not work again.
I don't know what to do. Can I buy a USB wireless adapter for her to temporarily use until I can figure out how to fix this problem. Personally, I think there is a design flaw with the vostro.
I am using the Vostro 3360 with win 7, I did used the hotspot station software accomplish with the WiFi driver before and worked fine. However, the hotspot is not working as the ipv4 is showing 'no internet connect'. And my iPhone cannot connect it too.

I had unplugged my computer due to painting the room. When i plugged back it I couldn not connect to internet. But oddlly enough my mcafee security center gave me a message that mcafee subscription expired, which it can't as I use it through my subscription through aol. Had this problem once before. So i uninstalled mcafee. I ran malwarebytes to see if there was anything that might prevent me for accessing internet, it found two adware that I quarentined.
I have tested my ethernet cord and connectivity on another computer it works fine.I had a realek RTL8139 Family PCI Ethernet NIC, i reloaded the driver after downloading from my other computer, now it say it is a realtek RTL 8139/810x family ethernet nic, not sure if I downloaded the wrong driver but before that I tried changing the speed to less than auto detect.

My daughters Studio 17 laptop lost all internet connectivity. Wired and Wireless. I have been searching all kinds of threads but don't seem to find a solution to this issue. I have done two systems recoveries to earlier dates when we know it was working to no avail. I have 3 other computers on this network and none are experiencing any issues. I did just change from DSL to cable broadband, but the computer was fine until Monday night. Not sure what is going on. Does a system recovery will undo Windows updates? The most recent updates took place on 1/4/2012, which is about the time the problem showed up. I am going to uninstall those updates, 2 Security Update for Windows, and see what happens. Stand by. No good. It didn't work. I see a lot of people who are having the same problem here recently so something must have changed.

No know configuration changes other than the regular weekly window update. My service provider is Verizon FIOS and all there stuff checks out. My iMAC and Dell Laptop connect fine through the same devices (router/modem/switch).
The xps shows no hardware faults and all the wired connections are intact. Unable to ping router. Network Sharing interface shows good connections to switch and router by a bad connection between router and internet.
Ran WIN7 network troubleshooter and it just told me to contact ISP.Rebooted machine several times but no joy.
My Dell XPS 8300 has been connecting to the internet without a problem for months until this morning. This morning the computer will not connect either through the LAN or wifi adapter. The network tray icon has the yellow triangle and says "no internet access."
I have reset both the computer and router multiple times and I have also unplugged them in between. Other computers in the house connect to the router without a problem wirelessly. This leads me to believe there is something wrong with the networking/system software configuration. The computer can't ping the router. It may be the software/system config was corrupted in the last 24 hours and I may need to reinstall the operating system which I would rather not do.
It doesn't appear that any unusual software updates were made in the last 24 hours beyond Adobe Acrobat and Flash. There have been no system updates that I could identify within the last month or so.
My only issue at the moment and im not sure if im doing something wrong but the wireless card is Intel® Centrino® Wireless-N 1000 and it says it can do Wireless N Connection but im not able to get it connected to the wireless N network. When i go in to view the options it gives for Wireless Mode it says B/G or just B or G. Now up top it does say 802.11N Mode and has the option for Enable and Disable and its Enabled. I have uninstalled the driver and intel software and reinstall everything a few times but no resolve. How i need to get the card to connect to the N Network?
