My router broadcasts at 5GHz and 802.11n and despite having a an up-to-date Inetl(R) Wifi Link 1000 BGN driver teh computer does not recognise the network.
I googled and this appeared to be a lot of peoples problems, people who are offering remedies by buying a wireless adpater. URL
Personally I don't want to do that.
I have two XPS 15 (L502x) laptops (purchased in March '12) with Intel Wifi link 1000 BGN adapters. On a regular basis both laptops lose their connection to the internet (via FIOS), at the same time. I'm convinced that is not FIOS or my router. I have a Dell STUDIO 8100, an iPhone and iPad, and these wireless devices do not lose their connections. Sometimes I'm able to resolve the issue by using "troubleshooting" via the adapter, often restarting the laptop and/or the router is the only way to resolve my problem. I've run the Dell Support software, it indicates no drivers are available for update, so I assume I'm current.I've read about turning off 802.11n, I've read about problems w/ power management and conflicts with wireless.

At as less as 10 meters away, in an open hall, from the laptop sitting on my home office desk the signal is weak - it shifts between zero and one "curve" on network notification icon on my gadgets.The signal is non existent in the floor immediately below. (The floor is made of reinforced concrete.)

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have the same issue and have been surfing the web for the solution for quite some time. Brand new Sony VAIO laptop with blu-ray has an Intel WiFi bgn 1000 wireless network adapter. It worked fine for couple of days, until i brought it to work. We use wireless connection in our office. Maximum 7 computers are connected at a time. All other 6 laptops connect to our network with no problems (all of them are on win7x64). Now, back to the problem. Wireless works at home and at work in the evening , when no one in the office. I've removed all 3rd party software, uninstalled Intel software. Am using clean driver from the Intel website. Tried different revisions of the driver - issue is still there. I've contacted VAIO support. This is not known issue to them. They offered standard actions (unisntalling the driver, power management options, enabling VAIO Smart Network). No updates of fixes on their support website. I have also checked in the event viewer. There is only one service being enabled and disabled constantly (TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper) - which is happening at the same time with wireless drop. There are about 5-8 drops per minute. Computer browser service disabled. Firewall disabled, antivirus disabled. We assume this could be an interference with mobile diveces. While now, we have disabled all wireless cards on all computers, switched off mobile phones. And... AXAXAXAXA!!! BSOD 0x00000018 (0x000....00, 0xFFFFFA800754A750, 0x00...02, 0xFC01020EFC01020B).

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have an Intel GT 1000 NIC installed in my XP Pro SP3 PC.I downloaded the driver update file for this NIC: "PROWin32.exe", version 16.6, dated 9/30/2011 for Windows XP 32 bit.The install failed with the following error message: I emailed these details to Intel Tech Support but have not yet heard back from them.
I searched my PC for "VC90_CRT_x86" and found it in many *.cab files but not as a single file anywhere else on my computer. How to get the new driver to install? I'm using the GT 1000 because the Realtek NIC that is on my MOBO failed a couple of years ago.
If set the LAN to 1000 duplex I get better throughput than If I set it to Auto 100/1000,but the problem is that then my internet modem stops working,is there a solution to this ?

I can create the WiFi hot spot and connect my phones and laptops but its not sharing the internet. I've checked the "share my internet" button too but still then its the same result.

This is a new problem since installing the newest driver update because I could not connect at all or randomly. The update fixed the connection problem and I no longer have dropped connections and wifi connection back to normal. HOWEVER it has left my auto connect nonfunctional.

I have a Intel Wifi Link 5100 AGN wireless card that isn't working properly. It will connect at first, then the connection is dropped. This started happening gradually, then became more and more frequent. I tried reformatting my computer, and this still is happening. When I use a wireless USB adapter, the computer has no problems using the wifi.

I've had this problem for a while. I'd only get a dial-up icon with a red cross after startup or diagnostics, and no wireless networks could be detected. So I installed the HP wireless assistant, and restarted the laptop. It started working fine. Today, the icon went yellow with limited access, so I ran troubleshooting. And the problem was back. The dial-up icon reappeared, and the wireless assistant showed the WLAN was disabled. I checked the device manager. The wifi link 5100 AGN had a yellow mark on it, and in properties tab, it said ' the device is not working '. I scanned for hardware changes, and the 5100 AGN disappeared ! I restarted my laptop, and now its nowhere to be seen. Even the wireless assistant now shows only 'Bluetooth' as a connection.

Stupidly, this happened while I was still under a Service Contract, but due to the holidays, I put it off and the contract expired the middle of December. I have an XPS L502x running Windows 7 and a Verizon FiOS connection (Actiontec modem/router). My work laptop (running XP), phone (Android), desktop (Win 8), and my girlfriend's Mac connect to this network fine. But the Dell has consistently had trouble over the year that I've owned it. In the past, I've been able to force it to connect by manually resetting the wi fi, but that didn't work today.
The wi fi will intermittently find the network, fail to connect to the internet, then lose connectivity to the network itself. Windows troubleshooting says I should reset the router (despite all of the other successful connections). This works for a second, but the Dell loses connectivity again (note: I''ve seen that this is associated with McAffee in other questions, but I'm not running McAffee). When I tried running the Intel troubleshooter, it passed all tests but the last one, saying it "Failed to Ping".
Another weird thing (not sure if it's related) is that my computer displays four different Network Adapters in Device Manager. One is the Intel Wireless-N 1000, but there are also two Windows adapters and what looks like a generic PCI driver. If you disable any one of them, you get the Intel "wireless adapter disabled" message. If you uninstall the Windows adapters, both reinstall when you try to connect to the network.
I have a 1 1/2 year old Dell XPS 15 L502x laptop.I have noticed that it has started having network connection issues with the wifi. It connects to all wifi properly but seems to be having issues with the home router recently. Around November 2012 it started. However I fixed the issue then by re-installing the driver.
This time reinstalling the driver did not solve the problem .. I have tried using the driver from intel's website as suggested by a previous forum post on a similar issue. I have alos tried the power settings suggestions by intel and none of these have solved the problem.

I just got an XPS 15 (L502X). It comes with the McAfee internet security suite. I tries to connect my other laptop wireless to my XPS 15 through the Intel My WiFi Technology access point option so that i could share my LAN internet connection. Whilst the other laptop connects wireless with the XPS 15. The internet connection sharing only works when i disable the McAfee firewall. How to configure the firewall.

I have a dell xps L502X with windows 8. My network adapter was replaced last month. My DHCP is enabled. My DNS Server reads 192.168.1.1 and it's a home/cable/DSL connection so from what I've read that's right. I've set my IPv4 and IPv6 to automatically detect the DNS server and IP address to use. I've tried to reconfigure the computer to the wireless router, but when I go to set up a new network no networks pop up even though many networks pop up for me to connect to on the right of my screen.
All of my other devices are connected and working fine. That was the background and what I've tried to fix for my problem. When I try to connect to my home network it says it's a limited connection meaning I have no Internet access. When I run the trouble shooter for the network, Internet connections, and network adapter the only one that has an issue is the network one and the issue is that the DNS server isn't responding.

A few times a day it just suddenly stops working and in the bottom right hand corner of the screen in the internet options section it says currently connected to : unidentified network. when I click connect again it says wireless adapter not found, "Wireless Network Connection"doesn't have a vailid IP configuration. Does it mean it doesn't come as standard and you have to upgrade it while choosing your components? I hope niot because it sounds a bit ridiciulous to have a top range model with core i7 and 1080p screen and no bluetooth which is as basic to me as wifi or speakers.
