I have lost my wireless internet connection it has been working perfectly, I phoned Sky and they say I will have to speak to dell to see where my internet has gone. I have a Studio 1745 Laptop. Is there a manual disable button on my laptop that I may have disabled by mistake.
View 1 Repliesi have a Dell Studio 1745 and a few months back I woke up one morning not being able to connect to the internet.So ever since then I have been connecting to the internet through an ethernet cable connected to my router.Now this has become pretty annoying because it's a pretty short cable, I have to sit on the floor next to the router when using my laptop.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI am having trouble connecting to my wireless network sometimes it shows up sometimes it does not but when it is there it sometimes has full bars and others has none. I have tried resolving the the issues through windows and it either says windows cannot resolve your wireless connectivity issue or it says to unplug router for 10 seconds blah blah blah. sometimes it says there is an issue at the access point or wireless adapter. It is really getting frustrating and everything else that is wireless works in my house. I have a dell studio 1745 and windows 7 on it.

I had unplugged my computer due to painting the room. When i plugged back it I couldn not connect to internet. But oddlly enough my mcafee security center gave me a message that mcafee subscription expired, which it can't as I use it through my subscription through aol. Had this problem once before. So i uninstalled mcafee. I ran malwarebytes to see if there was anything that might prevent me for accessing internet, it found two adware that I quarentined.
I have tested my ethernet cord and connectivity on another computer it works fine.I had a realek RTL8139 Family PCI Ethernet NIC, i reloaded the driver after downloading from my other computer, now it say it is a realtek RTL 8139/810x family ethernet nic, not sure if I downloaded the wrong driver but before that I tried changing the speed to less than auto detect.
I have rebooted in safe mode in case there was a virus. I am at my wits end.Is there a way to factory reset the network adapter. What else can I do. light at the ethernet port looks to be yellow. Everything says it is working, I just can't connect.
Cable modem connected directly to a Dell Vostro laptop works fine. Same cable reconnected to Dell Dimension 4700 is not working. This has all been working fine for years - usually I have a wireless network with the 4700 connected to the router by Ethernet cable, and the Vostro connected by wireless, but I have removed the router to close in on the problem.First, I am not sure if my ip settings are correct. No know configuration changes other than the regular weekly window update. My service provider is Verizon FIOS and all there stuff checks out. My iMAC and Dell Laptop connect fine through the same devices (router/modem/switch).
The xps shows no hardware faults and all the wired connections are intact. Unable to ping router. Network Sharing interface shows good connections to switch and router by a bad connection between router and internet.
Ran WIN7 network troubleshooter and it just told me to contact ISP.Rebooted machine several times but no joy.

Now when I look for wireless connections can not find any. Hard wire works fine. Trouble shoot states there may be a problem with one or more of my network adapters. Not very computer savy....But did find a way to run a Ping test and pass. Clicked on my 1502 Draft 802.11n WLAN Mini card and it states this device is working properly. Opened Broadcom control suite and it shows a Red X on the intergrated controller and the wireless card. with option to run a test or explanation of the Red X.
Do I need a new card or is there something else conflicting with it.. I find it hard to believe the card crashed right when I rebooted the Router...ISP sent a tech out but was not able to find problem.
my M5010 laptop would not connect to my wireless router. Tried resetting several times and it wouldn't work. Then I clicked on the wireless icon and it said I had no wireless. When I tried to scan for my wireless network, it couldn't find it.
I clicked the F2 button and when I highlight the enable wireless icon, it says something about it can't find Bluetooth.I am able to connect using an old laptop and my Kindle connects wirelessly, so it's not the modem.
At power on and off on my laptop, the wireless internet connection is lost on windows 7.

USB drive set up as a file server, both radio bands have devices which attach. All wifi security is wpa2 with a complex key string. Also have pc’s attached to all lan ports. I also have all the wireless devices registered on the mac address filter for access set to enable/allow. I have a total of 9 mac address in the list. One lan device is on the DMZ. One address is reserved. Not sure what other details you need.Router is used for online gaming, video streaming, and typical internet browsing.

I have been searching all kinds of threads but don't seem to find a solution to this issue. I have done two systems recoveries to earlier dates when we know it was working to no avail. I have 3 other computers on this network and none are experiencing any issues. I did just change from DSL to cable broadband, but the computer was fine until Monday night. Not sure what is going on. Does a system recovery will undo Windows updates? The most recent updates took place on 1/4/2012, which is about the time the problem showed up. I am going to uninstall those updates, 2 Security Update for Windows, and see what happens. Stand by. No good. It didn't work. I see a lot of people who are having the same problem here recently so something must have changed.

It was taking a while to load. After about a minute a page finally came up that said "Server not found" (I use firefox). I followed this guide [TUT] Setting a static internal IP (Windows and Linux)but what has happened is that now the two machines can't connect to the internet.
I have just turned my PC on to find that i have lost connection to the internet through my desktop PC. I am using the wired connection to my router, and i also have my xbox connected to the router which is working ok too. My laptop also works when connecting to the router both wired and wirelesly.
My network adaptor on my desktop is a Nvidia nForce, i have tried updating the driver on this to no avail. Next i tried to ping the router but i get PING Transmit faild, error code 1231. I ran IPCONFIG /all and found that i had no default gateway set, and also it was saying that the ethernet adaptor was : Media Unoperational, but since i rebooted both the pc and router the media unoperational tag has gone.
On the network and sharing page it shows i am connected to an unidenfied network but there is a cross through the internet. It also says the access and Connection for the unitentified network are Local only.
I no longer have internet access from my home network ONLY on my desktop computer. Everything was working fine as always - then while I was in my Network and Sharing Center, and clicked on my ethernet connection, 'Local Area Connection 3', I accidentally disabled it. No big deal I thought, so I re-enabled the connection. Except for some reason, my connection is all screwed up now. The name of this connection was and always has been 'dkm2' and now it just says 'Network', with no internet access. I have unplugged the cord and plugged it into this laptop and it immediately recognizes 'dkm2' and connects flawlessly, so I know the problem is on the desktop computer's end, and not the cable or router. I have tried reinstalling the ethernet adapter, as well as reinstalling/updating all drivers for it.The network diagnostic tool turns up with a message that says the connection between either my ethernet adapter or router and the Internet is broken. No matter what I seem to try, I can't get my connection to go back to it's normal 'dkm2' connection and stop giving me a generic, disconnected 'Network'. I can't figure out what could have changed. All that happened was the disabling and enabling of Local Area Connection 3.

I have a Motorola modem and modem is connected to the Netgear router. When I turn my desktop PC on which is connected to the router it shows the local connection is connected, but the Bridge Network cable is unplugged I have no idea what that is and if I need it to be connected to the internet. I called the Comcast service and the lady assistant did not even know what the Bridge cable is and I do not know ether since. I do not know what I should do to get the connection back to the PC; another PC work just fine also is connected to the router.

Since the power outage I can only get internet if I run straight into the modem. As soon as I run from the modem to any (tried 3 different ones) router I lose internet. I get a wireless signal on my router. I've reset the router to default settings. I've plugged in another router to the modem to check and I don't get anything from that router either (which was not plugged in during the power outage).

My laptop picks up the router, shows full strength but i cannot connect to the internet wireless or Ethernet cable. I restored to a previous date and it worked fine, and all my other devices work fine (iPad, iPhone, other laptops). The trouble is when i connected to the internet again it up dated windows and i cant restore back to the original date anymore as it has gone from the list.
