Computer Lost Internet Connections

The computer lost internet connections. Other computers in the house are fine with wireless and the direct connection.This computer I am working on is the one directly connected (not wireless).I tried the connection on other computers and it works.When troubleshooting, it indicates it lost the drivers so we downloaded the correct drivers and installed them on the computer. It indicates it has the updated drivers now. Funny thing is when you start of the computer the error message on the screen is Installation or Upgrade Error A problem occurred during the upgrade process.you must restart your computer. After it restarts, the Webroot upgrade resumes.I am concerned as my daughters computer has the same error message but her Internet connection still works.Seemed to me that Webroot could be a potential problem. Since we can't download the latest version (no internet and can't use disc we have as it tells us it is outdated) I tried to uninstall using WMPinfo.xml to finish the uninstall.I got an error that indicated - "The InstallAware Wizard for Webroot Software has failed: "WRConsumerService stop failed with error 2 and kill failed with error 128". If you continue to have trouble, please click the link below for assistance. And the link is titled Uninstall but without internet it is worthless. It uninstalled the Webroot SecureAnywhere file but it doesn't remove the Webroot Software. [code]

My mother's computer periodically loses internet connectivity. This happens regardless of the browser (IE or Firefox). She must restart her computer to get access again. This happens regardless of her internet connection. She uses verizon at her home and accesses through my wireless router when visiting. This also happens if she is on a public access network such as a hospital

One is the regular from the phone line internet and the other is a wireless subscription I access via dongle. Is it possible to connect to the internet on both subscriptions and then use one for specific applications and the other solely for games?I want to be able to use the more stable direct connection for games and be able to use the 2nd subscription to download via torrent.. I have another computer but it is company owned and torrent is forbidden.

Dropped VPN connections.I experienced a similar issue a few years ago with my LinkSys WRT54G router with dropped connections to my corporate network using the Cisco VPN Client. To make a long story short the problem was the result of the following:
1. The default ""Client Lease Time" on LinkSys routers is 0 which means 1 day or 24 hours.
2. By DHCP Protocol definition, DHCP clients must renew the DHCP client IP address lease at the 1/2 life cycle of the lease (12 hours if using the router's default setting). This is deadly for VPN clients as the short period of time when the client IP address is no longer valid, the VPN client considers this a loss of network connection. The LinkSys E-series routers further aggravate the situation by randomly assigning new IP addresses to DHCP clients instead of reassigning the client's previous IP address and tends to favor higher host IP addresses in the defined range.
Suggestions to prevent lost VPN client connections:
1. Change the "Client Lease Time" on the router to 8640 minutes (6 days 00:00:00).
2. Prior to establishing a VPN client connection, use the Windows Command Prompt to issue the "ipconfig /renew"
command to obtain a new IP address from the router that will be good for 3 days (72 hours).
3. Configure your E-series router to use the <DHCP Reservation> option to pre-assign IP addresses to your systems making sure they are outside the range of the dynamically assigned DHCP addresses. Using default settings,these would be in the range of 192.168.1.2 thru 192.168.1.99 as the router starts at 192.168.1.100 thru 192.168.1.149.

my set up is simple...main computer cable connected to BT hub (broadband) - second computer, in another room, wirelessly connected through same hub. Recently, I decided to link the two computers with XP using the network wizard. Followed instructions, and everything worked fine until the other day, when the main computer couldn't 'see' second computer (but second computer could see main.) I've checked file sharing and firewall exceptions and all is well. Basically, I am using second computer as extra storage, and so I really would like to make connection again from main computer, not the other way round. Just cannot understand why main can't see second anymore?

So yesterday i was sitting at my computer, doing nothing and then the internet shuts off. So i go up stairs to check on the router, and all of the normal lights are on, as well as the modem. Neither the host or wireless computer has internet.I'm able to be on the forums because i hooked my modem up to this computer, without the router.Whenever i set the router back up, it has the normal connectivity lights on, but the wireless computer AND host computet dont get connection. Is there any way to make it so that my computer has two internet connections, so to my router it looks my computer is two separate computers, and would this increase my speed, since my router is made for up to 15 connections and has only 300mb/s to give out, so [would]each computer is[be] only limited to 20mb/s? Had laptop connecting wirelessly perfect with no problems. We then added another laptop and PSP 3 to the house hold. Any of the 3 devices will connect to the internet via wireless but ONLY one at a time. If you are connected with one and turn on one of the others it will kick the one off that you were on and only 1 device can use wireless at a time?

I am trying to make my computer support incoming VPN connections. I am using Windows 7 Home Premium on the computer I want to make the connection on.I am also using Verizon FioS internet (comes with default router/modem combo) to which I have the DIR-655 router connected. I am able to connect to both WiFi's fine and they work correctly.I think the Verizon router is set to block incoming VPN connections and I think this is why I cannot get anyone to be able to access my computer / internet via VPN. How I can perhaps forward ports and which settings I would need to specifically change in both routers admin settings so that I can get VPN connections to forward to my computer and be accepted.

I haven't really allowed this to bug me too much, but I went over by a friend's house, used his WiFi, closed my Laptop, it disconnected, I reconnected to his network, came back home, now every time I restart or Shutdown my computer I have to reconnect, not that big of a deal

I am with Virgin media (UK) and have the 20mbps fiber optic connection. My area has recently been having problems with the broadband and Virgin has recently fixed these problems. However I used to get around 19mbps now that the problem is fixed my computer which is wired to the router gets about 0.4mbps downstream... However the 5 wireless computers all get 16mbps which is pretty good for them. Windows tells me that its a firewall issue and I currently can't use two programs, spotify and steam. They both have firewall issues, even if I turn off my firewall which is the windows one. I also have avast, and when I turn that off, still no good. I used OpenDNS, stopped using that flushed my DNS, that didnt work. I tried to optimize my computer settings, by changing various values in Regedit.All of this has done nothing. I should add that I have recently re-installed Windows 7 so on this fresh install it has never had decent internet speed. Which I thought was weird.. I have basically had these problems since the fresh install. All of my drivers are up to date.

I did the repair option for my LAN, it states that it is working & shows that it's connected.I tried to sign into MSN & got no connection. I was trying to browse the internet earlier, and I randomly just lost my internet connection. My homepage loaded up just fine, but then I tried to go to another site. It was taking a while to load. After about a minute a page finally came up that said "Server not found" (I use firefox). I can't get on any websites now and I can't get internet on any of my wireless devices either. When I right clicked my network icon on the toolbar and clicked on diagnose and repair it said "There may be a problem with the DNS. Windows attempted to find the well known host www.microsoft.com using dns. The server responded that the name was unknown." I have Windows Vista. Now I have no idea what I could have done. I didn't do anything out of the normal, just tried to go to a website that I frequently visit with no problems and this happened. This is what I get when I type ipconfig/all in cmd prompt. [code]

A week ago this laptop was working fine. However, now it will not connect via wireless to the internet. It says that it connects to the router but not the internet. I can connect to the internet if I use the wired LAN connection. I tried a restore to two weeks ago (when it was working) and it did not solve the problem. I do see in the wireless network connection status that IPv4 connectivity = local and IPv6 connectivity = local. While on another laptop (that is working and connects to the same wireless router) the IPv4 = internet and IPv6 = no network access. I think this may be the issue, but am unable to find out how to change them.
OS = MS Vista Home SP2.

I dont have an internet connection through my computer. This one tells me error 106. I have 3 computers hooked through the same router. So, I know I have internet, as I am writing this now. But for some reason, that computer is now telling me I lost the internet connection. I have tried unplugging everything, restarting the computer, and nothing has worked. I dont know how to get the internet back on that computer.
