Is there any way to make it so that my computer has two internet connections, so to my router it looks my computer is two separate computers, and would this increase my speed, since my router is made for up to 15 connections and has only 300mb/s to give out, so [would]each computer is[be] only limited to 20mb/s? As of now I have a dlink xtreme-n DWA-552 adapter in my computer.

I installed SharePort utility on my pc and it is showing drive in the utility connected but can not see it in explore like the way I see when drive is connected directly to LAPTOP using USB port. I use my router for several other wireless devices so this is bad. I use a Motorola modem that fits to a D-Link router. View 1 Replies View RelatedI have 3 pc's connected to the router, hard wired in using cat5. When plugging the cable into the router, the router port on front lights up. If I put it in the 3 port, the 3 lights up. If I put it in the #1 port, the port 1 lights up. I believe it means the pc is being detected by the router. If I go to the ip addy for the router (192.168.0.1), it is only showing the pc I am on. The other 2 pc's are not appearing, and they are not able to access the network. If I add a wireless item, like my Iphone, it is detected on the network right away.This only started this morning. I have restarted the pc's, restarted the router, reset the router, moved the cables to different ports, and swapped the cables from one pc to another. The only pc that gets detected in all of this is the one I am on. Regardless of port/ wire.

It has been working for years but after the internet was down in the area for most of the day, it has failed to reset. I've done the usual un-plug/wait/replug routine a few times but cannot connect. I can connect directly through the SIEMENS but when I introduce the DI-624 back into the mix, I'm not able to connect to the internet. How do I make it happen. I'm not tech savvy so go slow.

View 1 Replies View RelatedCurrently my company has 1 primary SSID that is used throughout both floors of the building. We have 1252 LAPs which have 2.4 and 5Ghz antennas. I'm not sure if this issue is only with XP or perhaps it's the computer's drivers but we run into problems with end users going to a different location and having a very weak signal or nothing at all, yet coverage is fine. I believe the problem is the end user's machine selecting the strongest signal and it I have the feeling that switching bands isn't being done as it should when it's in range. So my question,
Should I split up our 1 SSID and created multiple SSIDs according to the location and include 5Ghz or 2.4Ghz in the SSID name so it's easier to ensure that users are connected to the proper signal? I want to ask if multiple SSIDs would still enable users to freely roam (as long as the ssids are configured) throughout the building without noticing a loss of signal but currently just having 1 SSID isn't really enabling people to freely roam around without connection issues.I don't believe having multiple SSIDs will be useful for the computer's choose their connection any more efficiently but allowing the user to manually see what they're connected to and pick something better according to their location.

View 4 Replies View RelatedWe have several remote sites with Linksys WRVS4400N and Smoothwall firewall/vpn devices. I need these sites to be able to connect to multiple dis-contiguous subnets at our main office. This was easily done with smoothwall and linksys. You create a separate tunnel for each subnet and voila, you're done. However, when I tried this with our newly installed ASA, it will not let me create multiple tunnels to the same remote peer address. This is a problem since these sites only have a single static public IP address. Am i missing something or does the ASA not allow connections to/from multiple subnets form a site with a single peer address?

Secondly, after creating the first tunnel i am able to access the remote lan network but when i tried tracert "remote lan ip of a pc" from my pc i got "request timed out" after passing my 837 but succeeded to reach the target. Does tracert needs something to be opened in the router?

OS is Windows XP.
P.S. I have tried power cycling the modem/router but nothing works. Other computers can get on the internet via the wireless router fine.

I have it configured with a Realtek wireless card and was able to connect it to my office wireless network without a problem.But, when I try to set it up at home, it won't take. I have a dlink router that is working fine with several Mac computers in my home, so I know the router and network are up and running fine.The PC uses Windows XP. The icon in the lower right corner says dlink is connected and there is strong signal strength. I connect to the port and I get one connection, and my friend connects to get a second connection through the same port, and a third person connected via the same port to get yet another connection. I think there may be 4 connections being hosted through this in total. Now, the university have 3 main streams of internet: 1 for Staff/postgrad, 1 for students, 1 for exchange students. The fourth connection type is intranet with only access to a portal. The purpose of the portal is to submit your mac address for wireless and ethernet to be assigned an IP address for both. The issue we are having is my friend needs to connect to the exchange students connection for actual internet access, but the ethernet cable will only connect her to the portal (all her details have been submitted). I have cycled through every window in the networking control panel and usually issues like this I can resolve within a couple of hours but how to identify other networks that are available through ethernet.

When I connect 2 laptops to my router, why does the speed/connection get split? I would understand that if the speed was maxed out or something but it's a lame 500 kb/s connection. I use the fibre internet for almost all internet activities since the speed is fast.However, when I do school's stuff, I need to VNC to my lab's server. Hence I need to connect to school internet point. External IP cannot directly connects to my school's server.Therefore, I would need to force Windows (or VNC) to use the connection of the Wireless Ethernet card when I VNC to my lab's server. But I want to use my fibre for all other internet activities.
I have to connect/switch to two different ips different gateways, can I possibly keep two set of ips always ready.
