I have a home network that uses a DLINK DIR-655 router. All of my devices ( a mix of wireless and wired) except one--a windows xp SP 3 desktop that stopped working yesterday. Some viruses, and adware were detected and it has not worked since then. What I have done.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm using the Dlink DIR-615 Router. It's fairly old, and has been giving me trouble for a while. Due to recent circumstances I have no choice but to use this router. I can connect to the router just fine but it does not connect to the internet whether it be a wired or wireless connection. I have recently reset the router and haven't changed any settings besides the password. (also I get the error "Your computer appears to be correctly configured, but the device or resource (Microsoft Corporation: Software, Smartphones, Online, Games, Cloud Computing, IT Business Technology, Downloads) is not responding" from window when trying to repair the connection.)

trying to connect an old PC to my home wireless network.I brought home a PC I have used for years at my office. I have it configured with a Realtek wireless card and was able to connect it to my office wireless network without a problem.But, when I try to set it up at home, it won't take. I have a dlink router that is working fine with several Mac computers in my home, so I know the router and network are up and running fine.The PC uses Windows XP. The icon in the lower right corner says dlink is connected and there is strong signal strength. However, when I check the dlink status, it shows that 2,573 "packets" are sent, while "0" are received.I've tried to connect to the internet using Mozilla, Safari, and Explorer. Each says the server cannot be found and that the internet is not connected.

i ahve a dlink dir 615 B2 router and it wont connect to the internet. on day it was fine and working, the next day the internet led wouldn't change from the red light to the green light.i have tried resetting it about 60 times, while the laptop was on/off, while it was plugged it, while it was without power, while the internet cable was in, while it wasn't, while it was shut down and i reset it and the i pluged it in while resetting it...i dont know what else to do!! short of smashing the bejesus out of it. The internet works fine when i connect the cable directly to the laptop, I don;t have a cable modem or anything, just a plain old cable from the street to my house.

I go to troubleshoot the problem and I get "Local Area Connection 2 doesn't have a valid IP configuration". Its nothing with the router because when I plug my laptop in with the same ethernet cable, I am able to connect perfectly.

My roommate has refused to pay her share of the internet and, being a college student, I don't have enough money where I feel generous enough to let her have free internet after stiffing me. Basically, I have 2 routers at the moment (hoping to fix this soon): my Qwest modem works as a router but I also have a Linksys router connected to it. The only phone jack is in her room so I have no way of stopping her from plugging her computer straight into the modem and/or router. I've configured the wireless so that she would be unable to access the, wirelessly but I'd like to know how to prevent her accessing the internet when she plugs her computer directly into either component.

My area has recently been having problems with the broadband and Virgin has recently fixed these problems. However I used to get around 19mbps now that the problem is fixed my computer which is wired to the router gets about 0.4mbps downstream... However the 5 wireless computers all get 16mbps which is pretty good for them. Windows tells me that its a firewall issue and I currently can't use two programs, spotify and steam. They both have firewall issues, even if I turn off my firewall which is the windows one. I also have avast, and when I turn that off, still no good. I used OpenDNS, stopped using that flushed my DNS, that didnt work. I tried to optimize my computer settings, by changing various values in Regedit.All of this has done nothing. I should add that I have recently re-installed Windows 7 so on this fresh install it has never had decent internet speed. Which I thought was weird.. I have basically had these problems since the fresh install. All of my drivers are up to date.

Now my PC connects to the internet, but nothing else will connect (X Box, WII, iPods, Laptop). They were connected wireless before the power outage through my router. MTS said they are only responsible for ensuring their model works, not routers.I have checked some router settings. It is set for DHCP with 50 users.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Dlink dir-600 router I flashed it with dd-wrt it was was working good but I started experiencing some problems so I decided to flash it with the stock firmware and I did so later on after a week the Ethernet ports on the router stopped working I thought the router was bricked but I was able to connect wirelessly and could access the Internet and I was even able to change the settings of the router by going to 192.168.0.1 all was fine but all the ethernet ports stopped working so I thought it was the problem of the stock frimware and I again flashed it with dd-wrt but still all the Ethernet ports won't work I can only connect the computers wirelessly.

I received a Westell 7500 today and sucessfully added my laptop, two iPhones and XBOX onto the network. Laptop was hooked through ethernet cord for original setup, but then sucessfully connected to wifi. XBOX is hardwired in with port forwarding and open NAT. I have a desktop in another room that I would like to connect to Westell's network, but cannot get it to work. It used to connect to the 2Wire wirelessly, but will not connect to the Westell. It runs Windows XP. Trying to get an answer here, before I call ATT. It recognizes the wireless network, but will not connect.

I have a dlink(wireless n-300) router going through a netgear wireless g router, i have an intel wifi link 5100 agn in my acer aspire 6930g laptop & the isp is high speed cable (Shaw cable). My question is, why does my computer have to reset the router every minute or so? It takes forever to get anything on the web which could be Bitdefender 2012 plus security?

The MP830 was connected directly to the desktop computer and to a lap top in another room via a dlink router. But we do not know how to get the lap top to recognize the MX870. -Plugging my cord into another jack in my dorm room
-Using my roommate's ethernet cord
-Taking my cord and laptop to different areas on campus (library, other dorms, etc) that use different wired networks, and attempted connection there Worth noting is that I can still connect to wireless internet just fine (however, my dorm does not have wireless, making things very difficult for me).My ethernet adapter is a Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller. So I have a wireless router downstairs in my house that usually reaches around the whole house. However as of a couple days ago, whenever I am upstairs I only get limited connectivity. It still detects my router, but I an exclamation point and I can't connect to the internet. However when I am downstairs I have a connection that actually works. This applies to multiple laptops, computers, phones, etc.
