Routers / Switches :: Linksys Router Only Connecting To Internet With One Computer

After a power failure nothing could connect to the internet anymore. I called MTS (ISP provider) and they had me change some setup on my PC. Now my PC connects to the internet, but nothing else will connect (X Box, WII, iPods, Laptop). They were connected wireless before the power outage through my router. MTS said they are only responsible for ensuring their model works, not routers.I have checked some router settings. It is set for DHCP with 50 users.

A newer router that I got from a friend, a CISCO Linksys WRT310N, is not connecting to my XP computer via a CAT5e cable. It willconnect for about 5 to15 mins, then lose connectivity. Ihaven't tried with a faster CAT6, since my dog chewed through my other one,and I have yet to get a new one. I used an older NETGEAR B/G router and it worked fine.

my Netgear WPN824v2 router won't connect to the internet. It stopped connecting after a power outage 4 days ago. All local connections work fine. wireless unaffected. I tried a different router, but it wouldn't work either. Contacted my ISP, they said get a new router. Tried re-installing firmware, no change. I haven't tried it on a different internet connection yet, but plan to visit a neighbor and do some begging

I've got a Cisco DPC3825 modem that I also use as a wifi router. Conntected to it I have 4 eithernet cables:
1. From PC to Router
2. From another PC to router
3. From TV to router
4. From a Dlink Powerline Adapter to Router.It took me a while to figure this out but when I unplug all the eithernet cables and plug back in #1 and #2 (from above) the internet works. When I plug back in #3 and #4, the internet dies. Meaning, I am connected to the network but not the internet. I've reset the modem, changed SSID and restarted the PC many times but still can't figure out this issue.

ive been having a problem with my router since ive been using it for its wireless capabilities. it is a linksys wrt120n router. our internet comes from our local cable provider and it is good internet (10Mb download speed). running to our old router that split the connection between my xbox and our desktop computer worked fine and even for a large amout of time after i switched to this wrt120n there were no internet problems. now all of a sudden the router drops connection multiple times a day which can become a hassle when i'm doing something importaant and lose connection. and just a little bit of extra information i cycle the systems every time it does it and theres no fix.

I am trying to connect a Netgear wirless router to my cable modem. I have followed the instructions on the set up wizard but it fails to get a connection with the IP and DNS info I provide.I got the IP address info by connecting intially direct from the modem to the PC and then went to Run CMD and type ipconfig /all. I then started the set up wizard and followed the instructions, turning things on in specific order etc. After input the IP and DNS info it reports an error and tells me to check the address information is correct.My internet is a static IP connection (so it tells me and the IP information doesn't change).

I have HP laserjet 4000 tn. Had an old router and upgraded to a new wireless router, when connecting it to the new router, the port I connect to has the amber light come on. I have reset to factory setting thinking it would reset and capture a new ip address. still giving me problems. try connecting it to my macbook pro and cannot get a "fix" on the printer either. I know it has to do with the configuration of the printer.

I'm sure that the modem/router is bridged which I think it means that it is sent to pass through the port number requests. What I did was go into my Linksys router, setup the port I want to forward to my 3389 (RDP port on the specific machine). Let's say port 45000. In the past, before Windstream took over and I had DSL with a local Telco, I would just enter my IP address and port number and I was in to the machine. Example: 171.234.54.191:45000 That would be the IP address of my modem (which just passed though the requests) to the router. Now when I do the same thing I just get an error message that looks like this: It seems that the modem/router is not passing though the request to the router. This is why I didn't want their new router/modem which the HAVE to charge $120 for worse quality machine than what I already had.

We had to send our Canon Pixma MP830 all in one printer in for repairs, and we have an mx870 loaner. The MP830 was connected directly to the desktop computer and to a lap top in another room via a dlink router. But we do not know how to get the lap top to recognize the MX870. We tried adding it and entered the name Canon Pixma M870, and the program does not accept the name.

I recently purchased a Linksys E1200 router. I have two desktops (Windows XP) hardwired into the router, one of which is not connecting at all.I have talked to Linksys tech support 3 times already and they have not been able to fix the problem. Pinging a website got a request timeout.Pinging the router got a good response.It was properly assigned an IP address, but did not connect through the router.Under Network Connections, it displays as "Connected" but is still not able to access the Internet.

It constantly disconnecting and wouldn't stay connected for a long period of time, so I tried messing with the settings and it no longer connects to the internet. It tells me that the settings for this router is not compatible for the computer settings. I have reset the router to its factory settings, restarted the computer, restarted the router but nothing changed. I have tried plugging my computer to the router via ethernet cord and typing in 192.168.1.1 in the address field of Internet explorer and nothing comes up. I also forgot the password to the router!

I have a working VPN with a WRVS4400N Wireless N VPN Router. There is a Windows XP computer on the network with a static IP address and a shared folder that I need to access with QuickBooks across the VPN.I can connect to the router; but only doing that is of little use. Once my VPN connection is made,how do I find the computer on the other side and map a drive to it or get it with QuickBooks? I need to do this with a Windows Vista Computer and a Windows XP computer at remote locations. Windows Vista seems to be different than XP in that it will not let me type a network address in Explorer without adding an HTTP://. Network places does not seem to work either.

I have an old laptop with an old wireless adapter that doesn't support WPA2. I have another laptop that does and is connect to a router. Can I hook up the old one directly to the new one to get on the internet (I want to use both computers at the same time) without connecting the old one directly to the router (because it is in another room)?

Just recently I have one of my computers connected to my router not able to access internet, while all the other ones can. I have a wireless and 2 LAN connection to my router 1 computer from the LAN connection works but I'm having trouble with the other one.When I connect my cable from the modem directly to the my computer internet works fine.I tried resetting Winsock didn't work. Tried changing my cable didn't work. Scanned for any viruses or malware none detected. I got a static ip from my isp. I set up my static ip manually through my linksy router. I need the static ip to connect to a private network for my new job but cant connect to that network. I went to whatsmyip and found that my old dynamic ip is still showing up externally, it looks like my ip4 is using the dynamic as a preferred. My question is do i need to manually change the network connection on my LAN and wireless connection under ipv4 to change it from automatically obtain TO use the following address and put in my static? And do I have to change the DNS also? I am on a home network with one desktop on vista home premium and laptop windows 7.

I bought a new laptop today, unfortunately, it doesnt have a Firewire port and i want to use it for video editing.But i figured no problem really, i'll just capture on my desktop that i have been previously using to edit on, using Premiere pro to edit, but HDVsplit to capture, and then transfer the files over to the laptop using a USB or possibly trying to setup a home network.But when transferring files from the desktop onto the laptop via the router using ethernet cables, the speed is about 250 kb/s and when its the other way around, from the laptop to the desktop, the speed is 10 MB/s! Currently I have 2 different modem running in my working area which is modem A and modem B. Whenever user from Modem A(192.168.0.1) or Modem B(192.168.0.10) would like to print or scan something using the shared printer, I need to manually plug the cable into either Modem A or Modem B depends on the network the user are currently using.How I do previously is only set DHCP on Modem A and disable DHCP for modem B so that Modem B will share DHCP assigned by Modem A. Both modems connect to the same Switch with the printer cable so both network user can use it together.But the problem now is I have to enable DHCP for both modems and causing the previously method can't be use anymore. So is there any other way that I can link both Modem A and Modem B with each assign different DHCP to link with 1
