Linksys Wireless Router :: Wrt54g Not Connecting To Computer

May 8, 2012

It constantly disconnecting and wouldn't stay connected for a long period of time, so I tried messing with the settings and it no longer connects to the internet. It tells me that the settings for this router is not compatible for the computer settings. I have reset the router to its factory settings, restarted the computer, restarted the router but nothing changed. I have tried plugging my computer to the router via ethernet cord and typing in 192.168.1.1 in the address field of Internet explorer and nothing comes up. I also forgot the password to the router!

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT54G Connecting Two Different Ip Networks?

Jun 6, 2012

We are running our internal network on the 192.168.1.x range.

We have just installed a new control system which is running on a closed 192.168.0.x network (no internet access).

What we need to do is use the WRT54G to connect the 2 networks together so that we can VNC into one of the computers on the control system network so that it can be managed.

I have tried connecting the two networks by plugging the 192.168.0.x network into the WAN/Internet Port on the WRT54G, and setting the "Internet Connection Type" to "Static IP" and setting the "Internet IP  Address :" as 192.168.1.200 (the main PC I need to VNC into) but cannot ping any of the other computers..

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT54G Accessing A Drive On Another Computer

Aug 22, 2011

I am using a LinkSys Model: WRT54G Version: 6 wireless router configured to use WEP.I have two computers, the main desktop and a laptop for mobile operation. How do I configure the LinkSys to allow the laptop to access a external (mapped) USB drive on the desktop?

The laptop can access the mapped drive on the desktop when it is hardwired to the LinkSys (i.e., not wireless) but I cannot find a reference in the Pdf manual or online on how to access the drive on the desktop from the laptop when the laptop is connected via the WiFi.The desktop is running XpSp3 and the laptop is Vista.A second and more important question is should I do this. Can the accessing of the drive via the WiFi be done with adequate security. I would rather err on the side of caution.

Linksys WRT54G Wireless-G Router Not Connecting To Internet Via Wire?

May 1, 2011

I wired it all up correctly, and Continue to get "error 322: check router" upon every attempted install. I did some research and tried releasing and renewing IP amongst restarting all networking devices AND PC's. Peculiar enough, I could connect AND get online wirelessly from a netbook, but neither of my 2 PC's could connect via a wire. I got a defective router, is it possible the ports are malfunctioning? because the lights are on, but 3 or all of the 4 lights are continually on when only 2 ports are plugged in

I can't get my Epson Workforce 615 (610 series) All in One Printer to connect to my WRT54G router. I was on the phone with Epson for over an hour and renetered my SSID and security code 4 times. They said it was something about the router not letting it connect. The printer sees the SSID and I put my laptop in the same location as the printer and it has very good signal strength. I even took the printer back and got another one. The router does not have MAC filtering enabled.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Connecting Pool Controller To WRT54G?

Sep 30, 2012

I am trying to connect a Zodiac iAqualink wireless pool equipment controller to my home network (WRT54G) without success. This is a 802.11b device. My router is set to mixed mode. What I have tried:

1. Set it up as suggested in the instructions: WEP2 security, double checked SSID and password
2. Set it up without wireless security
3. Changed channels
4. Set mode to 802.11b

In all cases the LED on the iAqualink that is supposed to indicate that it is connected to the network illuminates properly, but I can never find the device using EasyLink Advisor.

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT54G - Computer Sees Network But Can't Connect

Aug 28, 2011

So I have a WRT54G router since a couple of years now.  Laptop (Win7 64bit), ipod, ipad, phones can connect to it without a problem, but new computer (Win7 64bit) can't.  I can connect the PC via ethernet without a problem though.

I powercycled my devices, I changed broadcasting options off and then back on, changed my security mode, tried the MAC Cloning (after doing the MAC Cloning, I lost internet connectivity even through ethernet), resetted my security settings, changed SSID, I'm broadcasting through channel 11 2.462.  I also tried deleting the HomeGroup

Important fact: the network is in the list of available wireless network, but Signal Strength is No Signal and I can't connect to it. My network adapter is ASUS 802.11n Wireless LAN Card, drivers are up to date. I've upgraded to the latest router firmware.

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT54G - See Signal But Can't Connect With Computer Or Iphones?

I am having problems connecting to my wireless internet.  We were getting a poor signal so we moved our router to our living room where we always are, but now we can't connect.  We tried resetting everything, turned on and off several times.  Went to the linksys wireless set up page, changed SSID and password.  Still can't connect with the computer or our iphones.  It shows our SSID is there but won't connect.  My internet when plug directly to the computer works fine (I am using it now).  My computer can connect to the router Linksys WRT54G, we just can't get it to connect to the wireless.

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT54G To Transfer Admin Control Panel From Old Computer

When I first installed my wireless router a few years ago, I did it with my old computer which has Windows XP as its operating system.  It is on this computer that the Linksys "admin control panel" is installed, which allows me see what computers are connected through the router, see what the settings of the router are, etc. I recently purchased a new computer which has Windows 7 as the operating system.  As I transfer programs and documents from my old computer to my new computer, I have run into the problem of how to transfer the Linksys "admin control panel" from my old computer to my new computer. The original installation CD for Linksys won't work with Windows 7 so I don't even have that as a starting point.  I tried going to the web-based admin site, but can't access it from either computer.

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT54G Connecting To Wireless Network?

Jul 30, 2009

I've been having a ton of problems with fixing my connection with my wireless network.  A few months ago, I lost connection on my desktop computer and I reconnected... however, it didn't actually connect.  When I hovered my cursor over the Wireless Network Connection icon, it just said "Acquiring Network Address" and never connected.  I got onto my laptop and did a quick search on the problem.  A few wrong moves later, and I couldn't even find my wireless network.

Despite all of my attempts at creating a connection, I still have no internet.  I've even tried plugging my computer into my WRT54G router via cable, and still no connection.  It's not the router that's the problem, though, as my two other computers and xbox have perfect internet connection.

I use Windows XP, I use a WRT54G router, I have Mediacom high speed internet, and that's about all I know.

Linksys Router WRT54G Isn't Connecting To The DNS Server?

Nov 16, 2011

I have a linksys router WRT54G connected to a modem supplied to me by Time Warner Cable. Just last night, for some reason my internet stopped working. After calling Time Warner Cable internet support, I found out that the modem is working. If I connect my laptop (Dell model which is running on Windows 7) directly via cable to the modem, I can connect to the internet. BUT if i connect my modem to the router, and then connect my laptop via cable or wireless to the router, I can't connect to the internet. When I open up my network window on the computer, I see that my laptop is connected to the router and the router is connected to the internet but I can't connect to the internet. I tried calling linksys customer service and my insurance ran out so yea ... On the laptop, i ran a troubleshooting program and it gave me an error stating that it failed to connect to the DNS server and I should contact the internet provider. Time Warner Cable told me that if connected to the modem directly, I could access the internet indicating that there's an error in the router.

Computer Not Accessing Linksys WRT54G Router After New XP Install?

Apr 4, 2012

I have a Linksys WRT54G to which 2 computers are connected of which one has no problems at all.The other computer just had its hard drive replaced and Windows XP Pro SP1 installed on the new hard drive. With the new operating system, I cannot get the computer to access the router. The connection status reports that the network device is working but IPCONFIG /ALL reports nothing (blank). The NIC is onboard the motherboard (ASUS P5LP-LE). I have swapped out cable ports at the router and tried a different cable to the faulty computer to no avail. If I had a spare NIC I would already have tried that too. FYI, it was working without problems prior to the hard drive crash that prompted the new drive and OS install.I tried a wireless USB network interface (Zonet ZEW2508) and the computer also reports it working. However, the network icon continually cycles between connected and unavailable, about 6 seconds connected and 1 second unavailable. IPCONFIG also reports blank on this.

Connecting Via RDP Through DSL Modem / Router -> Linksys -> Computer?

Feb 5, 2013

I'm sure that the modem/router is bridged which I think it means that it is sent to pass through the port number requests. What I did was go into my Linksys router, setup the port I want to forward to my 3389 (RDP port on the specific machine). Let's say port 45000. In the past, before Windstream took over and I had DSL with a local Telco, I would just enter my IP address and port number and I was in to the machine. Example: 171.234.54.191:45000 That would be the IP address of my modem (which just passed though the requests) to the router. Now when I do the same thing I just get an error message that looks like this: It seems that the modem/router is not passing though the request to the router. This is why I didn't want their new router/modem which the HAVE to charge $120 for worse quality machine than what I already had.

Connecting WRT54G And WRT54GS Together And Using GS For Wireless?

Jan 17, 2011

In the house I am using a WRT54G as the main router connected to the ISP. I have run a Cat5E wire from the house to the shop 110 feet away and connected a WRT54GS to the Cat5E (a LAN Port). I turned off DHCP and assigned it a static IP from the House WRT54G. Local wired connections work great, problem is it will not offer up a wireless IP address to wireless clients.I wired up a cross over cable and actually plugged it into the WAN port, it actually picked up and offered wirelessly the House IP address range, however, could not get to the internet. Why I can't wire to WRT54G and a GS together and expect a wireless connection at the shop site?

WRT54G - Connecting Two Wireless Routers Via Powerline Network

Feb 3, 2012

my goal is to share my cable modem signal over my two story house using two wireless routers. The delima is that the routers don't support wireless bridging and if they did, the signal is too weak to make it worth while.

The remedy I came up with... buy a pair of powerline network adapters and connect one router to the other so I could have a good signal upstairs and then a good signal downstairs.

Downstairs, I have the cable modem connected to the Linksys WRT54G router, which has a line out to my blu ray player, wirelessly feeds a PC downstairs and then has a cable run to the powerline adapter.

Upstairs, I have a cat5 connecting the powerline adapter (which was tested and works with laptop) to the data input port on my second wireless router, the netgear wndr3400.

I can't get the netgear upstairs to pull an IP address from the linksys router downstairs over the powerline network.

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT54G Can't Get Out To Web

Jul 5, 2011

I'm looking to upgrade my WRT54G as I have had NO luck in getting my Galaxy Tab to connect through it so far (can connect and get an IP address but can't get out to the web) and have had intermittent problems with my Blu-ray lately.  I am looking for something with the best affordable range, live 3 floors down from the current one and get about 3/4 signal strength so there's not much interference it seems.  I watch a lot of online content through Hulu, Netflix, and LMB games and share with 2 other people.I am looking at the E series, probably the E1200, 1500 or 1550 as they seem to meet my needs.  Any users have any advice about the ease of install and use of either of these?  Or would it be better to get a gateway as we are considering going from DSL to U-verse service, twice the speed for $2/month more

Using An Old Linksys WRT54G Wireless-G Router As A Switch?

May 4, 2012

I have an old wireless router lying behind me and I want to use that old router as a switch. That old router is a knock-off,no-name router brand called "Gigafast" and the model number is WF19-CAPR. There are also variants to that router name as well. The router that I currently have is a Linksys WRT54G wireless-G router. I'm planning to upgrade the wireless router in favor of Wireless-N in the near future.I want to know how can I use that particular Gigafast router as a switch and I want to link that router up to my WRT54G router. The scenario goes as follows:

Cable internet connection ----> WRT54G router ---> Gigafast router (as a switch)

The IP address for the WRT54G router is 192.168.1.1, while the Gigafast router is 192.168.1.254. I may know by now that I have to disable DHCP on the gigafast router and I have to change an IP address to something that is "not in range" with the WRT54G router, am I right?I want to expand the number of ports, so I can connect with future devices such as a VoIP ATA adapter, a laptop and possibly an entertainment box (i.e. Apple TV or Boxee box)
