My WRT54G router locks up 100% of the time when attempting to connect connect wirelessly to a Samsung Blue Player (Model number BD-P3600). I can connect to it with a cable no problem, but when I attempt to do so wirelessly and type in the password on the Blue Ray player, it attempts to connect but the router locks up and all devices connected to it (wired or wirless) lose connectivity

On an old laptop running Win XP the network card sees the router, but when I enter the correct passcode (16 character) I get a message saying the code must be 13 characters. View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently moved into a new place and while unpacking I found my Linksys WRT54G router and I am currently trying to set it up to I can connect to it wirelessly. I am able to access the administrative settings fine, and have got it to finally connect to the router, but there is no Internet connection, nless I am hardwired into my cable modem. I dont believe I have the software installed on this computer and I cant seem to find a place to download it even on the Linksys website, and the firmware is probably in bad need of updating.

It worked before I moved after I moved I can't connect via wireless. hard line works. i've tried resting to factor, i've tried not using ses, not using custom ssid. I've rest it like 5 times retarted the computers. I've hit the little cisco systems button on the front, this makes it work for a few minutes. When I hit the button it will go out then come back on white, and blink around 1-2 blinks per second, it will do this for maybe 1-2min. then stops and changes back to orange. and i get nothing from it. the WLAN light is on like it's working but I cannot detect it with my desktop or laptop, can i can detect 3 other routers around me. I've tried pretty much everything i know to do, tried flashing it, updating, about the only option i have left is throwing it out the window.

So we had to unplug the router and then it would work fine.You could see the device, but not connect. We moved our wireless phone a little farther away from the router thinking it was interfering, but still no luck. It didn't matter if it was an iPod, our BluRay player, or a laptop.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am currently at a friends house attempting to fix a situation he is having with his' wireless router, it is a Linksys WRT150n.Connection to the internet is possible via ethernet connectivity, however wireless is another story, devices can see the network but cannot connect to it, i have disabled the security key from the network to see if it was a simple password incorrection but still no dice.The current basic wireless settings have network mode set to mixed, and radio band, wide and standard channels set to auto, all other settings in the advanced tab are set to their default values.

Samusung support tells me I need to "open the ports" on my E3000 and make the Blu Ray a priority...I don't know how to do that.

HP support says I need to change a setting to mixed mode but I don't see that I can. Does this router supports mixed mode and if so how do I change it?The other comment the HP rep made was the printer does not support Wireless N. I am fine with this since the router says Wireless B. It seems based on the HP rep's comment that as long as I am not using Wireless N, then I should be fine.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an original Xbox 360 (wifi not built in) and the external wifi adapter. With all previous Cisco routers, I have been able to connect my Xbox successfully and quickly. Now, however, I am experiencing much difficulty.
I have verified I am using the latest firmware for my router, and configured my router like this: [URL] in terms of ports. I have also used the Xbox's MAC address to give a static IP address via my router's DNS.
The Xbox can see both my main wireless SSID and my guest SSID but cannot connect to either.
I just hooked up my new Sony BDV-E570 Blu-ray home theater in a box. Everything looks great except it is not connecting to my WRT110 wireless router. Router is one level below where the home theater system is located, and signal strength appears good (4 bars) on the Blu-ray player, but it repeatedly says "connection failed" when I try to connect. The Wii is also in the same place and has no problems connecting wirelessly to the WRT110 router.

We have just installed a new control system which is running on a closed 192.168.0.x network (no internet access).
What we need to do is use the WRT54G to connect the 2 networks together so that we can VNC into one of the computers on the control system network so that it can be managed.
I have tried connecting the two networks by plugging the 192.168.0.x network into the WAN/Internet Port on the WRT54G, and setting the "Internet Connection Type" to "Static IP" and setting the "Internet IP Address :" as 192.168.1.200 (the main PC I need to VNC into) but cannot ping any of the other computers..
I have a WRT54G wireless router ... I want to connect a new laptop through it ... but I need either a network key or a password ... cant locate these ..

It tells me that the settings for this router is not compatible for the computer settings. I have reset the router to its factory settings, restarted the computer, restarted the router but nothing changed. I have tried plugging my computer to the router via ethernet cord and typing in 192.168.1.1 in the address field of Internet explorer and nothing comes up. I also forgot the password to the router!

I was on the phone with Epson for over an hour and renetered my SSID and security code 4 times. They said it was something about the router not letting it connect. The printer sees the SSID and I put my laptop in the same location as the printer and it has very good signal strength. I even took the printer back and got another one. The router does not have MAC filtering enabled.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am trying to connect a Zodiac iAqualink wireless pool equipment controller to my home network (WRT54G) without success. This is a 802.11b device. My router is set to mixed mode. What I have tried:
1. Set it up as suggested in the instructions: WEP2 security, double checked SSID and password
2. Set it up without wireless security
3. Changed channels
4. Set mode to 802.11b
In all cases the LED on the iAqualink that is supposed to indicate that it is connected to the network illuminates properly, but I can never find the device using EasyLink Advisor.
I've got a WRT54G v6 that is password protected via WPA2 Personal TKIP+AES, and SSID broadcast enabled. In the Status menu > Local Netork > DHCP Clients Table there is a MAC Address listed that none of my devices have.
View 6 Replies View Relatedmy E1000 router locks up and I lose Internet connectivity until I unplug the router's power cord, wait for 10 seconds or so, then plug it back in and let it restart. This seems to be triggered (a.) when I land on a web page with intensive graphics, etc., that takes a while to load, or (b.) if I launch a web page really quickly while another one already is up. it doesn't just happen spontaneously when I'm working on the computer. This computer I'm working on is old and slow, which is why as per my earlier inquiry about having to reconfigure the router and network , I'm looking at changing to an up to date and faster model. I just updated to the latest firmware, probably a week or so ago, but the router was doing this before then and still is doing it now.

A few months ago, I lost connection on my desktop computer and I reconnected... however, it didn't actually connect. When I hovered my cursor over the Wireless Network Connection icon, it just said "Acquiring Network Address" and never connected. I got onto my laptop and did a quick search on the problem. A few wrong moves later, and I couldn't even find my wireless network.
Despite all of my attempts at creating a connection, I still have no internet. I've even tried plugging my computer into my WRT54G router via cable, and still no connection. It's not the router that's the problem, though, as my two other computers and xbox have perfect internet connection.
I use Windows XP, I use a WRT54G router, I have Mediacom high speed internet, and that's about all I know.
I'm using the E4200 in Bridge mode and it's handing out IPs from our DHCP server (not acting as it's own). I have about 8 people connecting to this wirelessly to get to our network. For some reason it locked up once every week or two and I have to unplug it (can't even remote into it).

That is to say the wired laptop can't reach the router and the smart phone does not have a signal. This often happens when there is no phone or computer running. My current firmware is 2.0.37 and it just happened again. The logging capability is absolutely terrible so you can't tell why or when it went down, and what happened just before it went down. I pull the plug on power and when it comes back the log is clean. avoid the freezing/lockup or for logging incoming and outgoing with timestamps?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a linksys router WRT54G connected to a modem supplied to me by Time Warner Cable. Just last night, for some reason my internet stopped working. After calling Time Warner Cable internet support, I found out that the modem is working. If I connect my laptop (Dell model which is running on Windows 7) directly via cable to the modem, I can connect to the internet. BUT if i connect my modem to the router, and then connect my laptop via cable or wireless to the router, I can't connect to the internet. When I open up my network window on the computer, I see that my laptop is connected to the router and the router is connected to the internet but I can't connect to the internet. I tried calling linksys customer service and my insurance ran out so yea ... On the laptop, i ran a troubleshooting program and it gave me an error stating that it failed to connect to the DNS server and I should contact the internet provider. Time Warner Cable told me that if connected to the modem directly, I could access the internet indicating that there's an error in the router.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have an HP Pavilion desktop computer running Windows XP Home Edition. It used to never get internet wirelessly for some reason until one day i played around with it. I don't remember how but I got it to go online and it worked ever since. Just recently i have moved from my previous home and have finished setting up both of our computers. The Vista (the one i am using to write this) is an Ethernet connection and is having no problem connecting to the internet. Although, the XP for some reason will not connect to the internet. The adapter will find the network but when i type in the WPA2 it tries to connect but i think it times out or something. I have tried several solutions and none have worked. My father has a Toshiba laptop and he is currently having no issue with connectiong wirelessly to the internet. Our old verizon router stopped working when we attempted to set it up after the move, so verizon came and istalled a new one. It is secured with a WPA2 code whereas our older one was secured with a WEP code. I think it might be a problem with either the router or the wireless adapter itself (which is a Linksys Wireless-B Network Adapter). Also, when i logged into my router manager thing, I noticed that under the network, it said the XP was an inactive Ethernet Connection and not Wireless.

I have a network at home that me, my brother, and my parents share. I will be building my own PC and placing it in my room, which is upstairs. However, our router and modem are both downstairs. Now, my questions is, will that be a problem? As in, will my network bandwidth be bad? I really can't reconfigure my network nor can I have my computer downstairs since there is not enough room downstairs to place it. I also have a computer desk in my room from a few years back. The modem we have is 2700HG-B Gateway and the router is a CISCO Linksys one. I just have a miniUSB Wireless N adapter.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Linksys X5000 hooked up with my home pc. The internet I get is free though the private school's network I work at (across the street) through a LAN. With a bit of wrestling I got my desktop to connect with the internet through the Linksys like an ethernet switch.I can't get my wireless devices to connect with the internet without logging in as a guest, which is annoying to do every time, especially through my iPod. They will gain access to my network, but not the internet.
Since this is a school network, my IT guy gave me a static IP address to speed up up/downloads by disabling DHCP. Every time I try to do that I get a message that "the page at 192.168.1.1 says the value can't be equal." OK, so I try to change my router's IP to 192.168.1.2 and...no luck, same message. I love working with hardware, but networking is beyond me. I don't think I can log into the guest screen in my own house any more! I am getting a new tablet in 2 days and this just won't do.
