Jun 21, 2011

How I can stop a local internet connection from using my computer, or the router? I am using high speed through frontier. I have deleted this local internet connection once before. When they or it connects to my stuff, I cannot get online. It says, Unnamed Network - Unsecured Network.Radio type 802.11g with excellent strength.
I recently built a new computer and it runs a wired connection. I was having problems with dns dropping.until i set static ip and dns. But now whenever my computer is on my router doesn't broadcast a wireless signal and none of my devices can connect to wireless until I turn off my computer. The router is a linksys wrt54g2
I have 2504 wlc, 1142n ap's and a windows radius server.Users have figured out that they can connect their kindles to the wireless by using there network login credentials. How can I stop this? Change authentication from user or computer to just computer?
I have a WRT54G wireless router ... I want to connect a new laptop through it ... but I need either a network key or a password ... cant locate these ..
It constantly disconnecting and wouldn't stay connected for a long period of time, so I tried messing with the settings and it no longer connects to the internet. It tells me that the settings for this router is not compatible for the computer settings. I have reset the router to its factory settings, restarted the computer, restarted the router but nothing changed. I have tried plugging my computer to the router via ethernet cord and typing in 192.168.1.1 in the address field of Internet explorer and nothing comes up. I also forgot the password to the router!
When I browse or surf the internet with my computer, it causes the router to stop working on all devices connected to it. This includes my laptops, iphone, ps3 and other desktop. However, if I or anyone else connected to the router had a stream running on youtube, a file that is downloading, a game running online or voicechat with ventrillo, nothing happens to those processes. I just can't start a new download, or open a new tab, or start anything that requires internet connection.I've tried using different browsers, I've tried updating my computer, using different ports both on my computer and the router, shutting off all my firewalls, factory resetting my router and nothing works.I've narrowed the problem down to an issue with my computer as this would never happen to any other or device. This problem ONLY happens when I surf the web or view/open websites. The only way I can fix the problem is by walking up to my router and restarting the router (the router only) and waiting a minute for my computer to reconnect.I've noticed that the router stops working when I go to sites or links that have on screen popups of flash or java. When I check my network connection after the internet stops working, the rate of packets received becomes dramatically reduced.
I've got this router for 3 days, I configured it for Polish neostrada (TPSA), its works perfect for 3 days (until today morning). Now i cannot connect to ADSL, on info page its everything correctly. I only cannot connect (after pressing Connect page reload and nothing changed). My orgiginal Livebox from provider works (it have build in settings). I tried to reflash firmware and restore to factory settings (i tried too wizzard from CD and simple writing on info page).Wi-Fi + Ethernet works, I only cannot conect to ADSL (i tried PPPoA and PPPoE, all settings what my provider has on his page).
Yesterday I was on my cousin's computer, and we had to remove the ethernet cord to connect it to mine as my wireless adapter wasn't cooperating with his internet. This was all fine and dandy until we had to plug the ethernet cord back into his computer. It locks everything up. If you try to open a program, it won't open. If a program is already open when the cord is plugged in, it stops responding within 15 seconds.I called my brother, and he suggested I run a virus scan via Microsoft Security Essentials and MalwareBytes, which I did. MalwareBytes found 5 problems, MSE found 1 additional one. They have all been removed, however this problem still persists. If you try to start the computer with the ethernet cord plugged in, it will allow him to put in his password, it will say welcome for about 3-5 minutes, then the screen will go black. The mouse is visible, doing it's motion to indicate that it's loading something, but it never achieves anything.
I'm sure that the modem/router is bridged which I think it means that it is sent to pass through the port number requests. What I did was go into my Linksys router, setup the port I want to forward to my 3389 (RDP port on the specific machine). Let's say port 45000. In the past, before Windstream took over and I had DSL with a local Telco, I would just enter my IP address and port number and I was in to the machine. Example: 171.234.54.191:45000 That would be the IP address of my modem (which just passed though the requests) to the router. Now when I do the same thing I just get an error message that looks like this: It seems that the modem/router is not passing though the request to the router. This is why I didn't want their new router/modem which the HAVE to charge $120 for worse quality machine than what I already had.
My Ethernet cable connecting my computer to my router is not working. It was just working a few days ago and I have connected it to a different computer and it worked on that
I recently purchased a Linksys E1200 router. I have two desktops (Windows XP) hardwired into the router, one of which is not connecting at all.I have talked to Linksys tech support 3 times already and they have not been able to fix the problem. Pinging a website got a request timeout.Pinging the router got a good response. It was properly assigned an IP address, but did not connect through the router.Under Network Connections, it displays as "Connected" but is still not able to access the Internet.
After a power failure nothing could connect to the internet anymore. I called MTS (ISP provider) and they had me change some setup on my PC. Now my PC connects to the internet, but nothing else will connect (X Box, WII, iPods, Laptop). They were connected wireless before the power outage through my router. MTS said they are only responsible for ensuring their model works, not routers.I have checked some router settings. It is set for DHCP with 50 users.
I have a home network that uses a DLINK DIR-655 router. All of my devices ( a mix of wireless and wired) except one--a windows xp SP 3 desktop that stopped working yesterday. Some viruses, and adware were detected and it has not worked since then. What I have done.
So I have a wireless router downstairs in my house that usually reaches around the whole house. However as of a couple days ago, whenever I am upstairs I only get limited connectivity. It still detects my router, but I an exclamation point and I can't connect to the internet. However when I am downstairs I have a connection that actually works. This applies to multiple laptops, computers, phones, etc.
I am moving to a house in a fairly remote part of Australia without a telephone connection. To get the phone connected will be very expensive and take considerable time. I have mobile phone and wireless internet connection available but only with the most expensive provider. I am not a big user of the phone but every now and then, I have to make one of those calls that go through adozen menus and then leave you on hold for an hour, theb type of call that can send you bankrupt using a mobile service. My proposed solution is to have a prepaid wireless internet account, using a USB dongle connected to my computer as the internet connection. Then to connect either a SPA3102 or a PAP 2T between the computer and a handset and use a VOIP service such as Voipcheap to make calls. With this setup, I would have unlimited landline calls within Australia for around $50 per year, much less that something like Skype. Can I do this and if so, how? I have both devices and they are both presently configured to work connected to my Linksys gateway. Do I connect the computer to the LAN or eithernet of the SPA 3102 and will it just require a normal LAN cable? How do I assign the various addresses required? Do I need any extra software for my computer?
I just installed Tomato firmware (details below) on my wireless-N router and everything appears to be working fine on the router's end. I can connect to the Internet properly with a wired (Ethernet) connection; in fact, that's how I posted this question.
What I cannot do is connect to the router wirelessly in any way. At first, I thought that something was wrong with my wireless security settings, because I read about some incompatibilities between Windows 7 and AES encryption. However, when I changed to TKIP, the issue persisted; when I switched from WPA2 Personal to WEP, the issue persisted; and when I disabled wireless security entirely — just for testing purposes — the issue still persisted.
My Internet search for this issue brought up a lot of old forum and mailing list posts, most of which were useless. The only one that seemed promising suggested disabling Afterburner, but that came disabled by default on my install. I did try enabling it and then disabling it, but it had no apparent effect.
In case it's relevant: before I installed Tomato, I had a somewhat funky install of dd-wrt on the router. The first thing I did after installing Tomato was a full clean of the nvram through the web GUI's Administration → Configuration → Restore Default Configuration menu.
What do I have to do to get wireless running? I only have one computer available at the moment, but I'll try to update later if and when I can borrow more devices for testing.
Assorted specs:
Linksys WRT160N v3 Tomato Firmware v1.28.9054 MIPSR2-beta K26 Mini Linux kernel 2.6.22.19 and Broadcom Wireless Driver 5.10.147.0 updates
EDIT:This is a computer issue, not a router issue. Two smartphones with wi-fi connections and another computer are all able to connect to the wireless network with no problems. However, the original computer was able to connect to the same router just fine before Tomato was installed. It has an internal wireless-B/G card, and I had Tomato set up to broadcast G-only, so it should have been compatible.
EDIT 2:The computer in question was the only device in the house that wasn't set up for wireless-N, so I went out and bought a Wireless-N USB adapter and changed Tomato to be N-only. Using the new adapter, I get connection again. I suppose it's possible that the computer's OEM internal wireless card failed at exactly the same time that I installed Tomato on the router, but that would be one heck of a coincidence. I'll see if I can connect to some other G or B network next time I'm around one....
When using my pc through my wireless Netgear router, the connection is lost periodically and I get the message "default gateway not accessible". It only happens on my PC, and not on my IPad. What should I do to keep the connection on my PC?
I have an E1000 wireless router and after rebooting it from the web admin page it won't stop blinking. I tried following the reset instructions on this page but it is still blinking.

I can't access 192.168.1.1 via my browser either. Is there anything else that I can try before considering it defective?
wrt54g v1.1 After setting up the wireless router, I can use the internet on the pc as well as a wireless device. However after putting my pc in standby mode then back on, I can no longer connect to either. I have to restore factory defaults each time and re-enter all passwords and settings.
After an hour on the phone with the Linxys support people I'm feeling like I've been scammed.I have a 2 year old, almost to the day, Linxys Wireless-N Broadband Router, model # WRT160NVZ, which decided to stop working today. I contacted Linxys support and was told since it is 2 years old it's no longer under warranty, ok. If I choose I can pay for a service call and the tech may be able to fix the router, no guarantee. I had another option to purchase a service plan but again no guarantee repairing the router. My third option was to purchase a brand new wireless router for a discounted price, if I chose this option the tech would attempt to repair the router at no charge. I expressed my concern that it would take a few days to receive the new router and what would I do while waiting. I was then assured the router I have now could be repaired and would be able to hold me over until I received the new router. So I chose the 3rd option purchasing a M20 wireless router to be shipped to me within 3 days. After providing my credit card number and billing/shipping address the technician was now able to work with me in trying to repair the current router. He had me access the Linxys website, he instructed me in resetting the router and resetting the settings for it on the website and PRESTO, my 2 year old router now works again.but feel that this is a scam, programmed in the router to occur within 2 years of purchasing where the settings entered no longer work but once changed works perfectly well.
I've lost connectivity with all but one of the ethernet ports on my E4200 router. My desktop PC was connected to Port 1 but stopped working. Network troubleshooting via my Windows 7 Dell 8300 said I was not connected and to check the cable. I did that with several different cables and tried the usual router and modem reset. Only through trial and error did I find that I could connect to port 4 which is why I am able to write this post. What could have changed to disable ports 1-3 and can I get them working again? No issues with wireless connectivity.
I,ve used a network for a number of years with no problems. I have databases on computer 1 and access them with computer 2. After installing a Cisco e2500 I can connect to the databases but after a short period of time I am disconnected. If I search my network computer 1 is not found. Waiting a few minutes the network will find computer 1 again. At about the same time my firewall software has started to show an attack from an 2 different IP's I don't recognize but its always one of those 2 IP's. I'm assuming the two problems are related. I,ve considered going into my firewall and allowing the unknown IP access, BUT who knows where that IP is coming from. I've checked the Cisco setup but couldn't find an IP address that matched the attacking IP address.
I received a Linksys E1200 from a friend who careless tried to upload an incorrect configuration. After that the device became use full. It don't work at all.
I have a nas device called mybooklive connected to my linksys e2500 router.Every device that is connected to the router does not append nyc.rr.com except the mybooklive one.I change and mad dhcp reservation for this device with the client name but it still appends. [code]
