How I can stop a local internet connection from using my computer, or the router? I am using high speed through frontier. I have deleted this local internet connection once before. When they or it connects to my stuff, I cannot get online. It says, Unnamed Network - Unsecured Network.Radio type 802.11g with excellent strength.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI just did a fresh install of windows 7 x64 on a 2tb hd. the only drivers I have installed are the chipset, the onboard audio, usb 3.0, onboard HD GFX, marvell raid controller, and the intel management engine. The only other program installed is intel desktop utility. my onboard NIC is not working. i get an error saying the Local Area Connection doesn't have a valid IP configuration. I've tried setting the IP's and DNS addresses manually. I've tried disabling flow control. I've tried disabling IPV6. I've tried restarting the computer numerous times. The cable is fine, it was working yesterday. This also happened a couple days ago when I uninstalled my BigFoot 2100NIC, so I just said screw it and reinstalled it and internet worked great after that. I've tried pinging two adresses and it failed to ping 192.168.1.1 (the router address). I'm considering just installing the BigFoot I have right next to me, but i'm hesitant because the whole point of the clean OS install was to diagnose a stop 124 BSOD. I guess the question is would I rather have internets or GPU (the hardware I was planning on installing next), but its puzzling me why my onboard NIC is not working.

When I browse or surf the internet with my computer, it causes the router to stop working on all devices connected to it. This includes my laptops, iphone, ps3 and other desktop. However, if I or anyone else connected to the router had a stream running on youtube, a file that is downloading, a game running online or voicechat with ventrillo, nothing happens to those processes. I just can't start a new download, or open a new tab, or start anything that requires internet connection.I've tried using different browsers, I've tried updating my computer, using different ports both on my computer and the router, shutting off all my firewalls, factory resetting my router and nothing works.I've narrowed the problem down to an issue with my computer as this would never happen to any other or device. This problem ONLY happens when I surf the web or view/open websites.The only way I can fix the problem is by walking up to my router and restarting the router (the router only) and waiting a minute for my computer to reconnect.I've noticed that the router stops working when I go to sites or links that have on screen popups of flash or java. When I check my network connection after the internet stops working, the rate of packets received becomes dramatically reduced.

Yesterday I was on my cousin's computer, and we had to remove the ethernet cord to connect it to mine as my wireless adapter wasn't cooperating with his internet. This was all fine and dandy until we had to plug the ethernet cord back into his computer. It locks everything up. If you try to open a program, it won't open. If a program is already open when the cord is plugged in, it stops responding within 15 seconds.I called my brother, and he suggested I run a virus scan via Microsoft Security Essentials and MalwareBytes, which I did. MalwareBytes found 5 problems, MSE found 1 additional one. They have all been removed, however this problem still persists. If you try to start the computer with the ethernet cord plugged in, it will allow him to put in his password, it will say welcome for about 3-5 minutes, then the screen will go black. The mouse is visible, doing it's motion to indicate that it's loading something, but it never achieves anything.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy computer is running on Windows 7. It has had no prior internet connection problems. It is wired to my DV-2020 router. My internet suddenly disappeared, as in, it doesn't work anymore. I'm not sure as to when it disappeared due to my personal absence, but from what I heard it was either during 'starting a game' or 'installing firefox add-ons updates'. Internet does work on other computers sharing the same internet (wired and wireless). On the computer that does not have access to internet it gives a "local area connection - No Network Access" and "local area connection - unidentified network." So far I've tried:
A system restore.
Restarting the router (at home as well as the provider)
Changing wiring.
Disabling / Enabling.
Disabling virusscanner.
I have the DIR-655 Hardware version B1, Firmware version 2.00NA and everything has been working fine for about 3 months. Lately the internet connection to all the computers would just stop. All the computers are connected to the router and the router is connected to the cable modem and their is no indication of a problem. The lights are all on and the router status shows the cable status as connected and the network status as established. I can't open any webpages, or all the ping would time out. It happens on all device, Windows Vista/7 PC, Mac computer, Linux laptop, and iPhone/ iPad. The problem gets fixed when I reset the router or just wait about 5-10 minutes and the problem goes away. That normally isn't a problem, but it's starting to happen twice a day now and it is really really annoying when I'm playing games. I tried the FAQ and searching the forums, but in vain.

One with Windows Vista and the other one with Windows XP. Both the same problem. There is a wireless connection with excellent signal strength but no internet access. View 3 Replies View RelatedI just installed the X2000 and managed to get my Win7 Home Premium to connected to the Internet and also one wireless device. I previously had just a modem. Sometimes, when my PC is up and running, I want to disconnect it from the Internet and later connect again. There is an icon on the lower right of my toolbar which, with my old modem, allowed me to connect and disconnect but it seems to know only about the old modem. Basically it operated by starting the sequence: All Control Panel Items>Network Connections>Broadband Connection. Now this function does work; it tries to connect (through "WAN Miniport (PPPOE)") and gets "Error 651: The modem (or other connecting device) has reported an error". Can you tell me what where is the program that seems to start the Internet connection for the X2000 and if I can change parameters for the Win7 "Broadband Connection" to use the X2000? Perhaps the parameter "Connect on Demand" in the "Basic Setup" of the X2000 is involved?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI recently switched from a DSL ISP (Earthlink, Zyxel modem configured as a bridge, pppoE connect) to a cable ISP (Comcast, Arris cable modem, dhcp connect). Basically PC --> DIR615-->Cable modem-->Internets. With the old DSL the Internet activity LED (green, looks triangular) on the DIR615 blinked only when internet activity occurred. With the new Comcast connection it blinks non-stop about 5 times a second! Even if the PC is turned off it blinks. It stops blinking if I disconnect the ethernet cable between router and modem. The connection itself is fine, but if the DIR615 is doing something it should not be doing it might slow the connection down a bit, (or burn something out prematurely?)FYI, the Arris cable modem does not seem to be a router. It takes a cable connection from outside and provides a single ethernet cable and 2 (voice) telephone cables to the house.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have 2 laptops and 1 desktop all connected to the same router, the 2 laptops are connected via wifi and the desktop PC is currently connected via an Ethernet cable, both laptops run windows 7 while the desktop runs windows XP and more or less every time the desktop is booted after a few minutes of normality connection to the internet is lost and the yellow triangle on windows 7 appears so to fix this I have to go into my routers settings via 192.168.1.1 and reboot which then solves the problem and all machines function as they should including the desktop.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have several devices connected to a homehub at my home.These include smart phones, desktop computer xbox 360 and a laptop.All work fine except the laptop which until the other day (when I uninstalled Norton Security off it) has been unable to connect to the internet.The laptop has Windows Vista SP 2. I searched the forums already for any details of how to rectify this and have seen mentioned the commands netsh int ip reset reset.log (along with Ipv4 and ipv6) and netsh winsock reset catalog? went to add/remove programmes to get rid of Norton and have sinced tried to use the Norton removal tool which every time I copy it across to the laptop from my desktop when I try to run it it says it is corrupt.I was then referred to a uninstall tool called Revo which I used to remove any symantec or Norton it could find.I have also turned off windows firewall and Im still not finding a resolution.

I got 3 laptops in household, my daughters and sons connect fine wireless but when i want to connect my laptop finds talk talk my internet provider but it says local connection only, Find this a bit strange when the other two laptops are fine.
View 4 Replies View RelatedMe and my family have a PC that runs on Windows Vista service pack one. We have it hooked up to the Internet (Verizon DSL). And knock on well it has a great connection and has never given us any problems.We run a LAN line on this connection. No wireless at all. Yes we are still in the stone age. Well the other day my mother gave my step daughter her laptop ( Dell Latitude D610, it has Windows XP service pack two on it). They had it set up for wireless. So, I disabled that connection and went to the LAN connection that was set up and enabled it. Everything was set to obtain a address. I hooked up a Ethernet cable that went from the DSL straight to the laptop. No connection at all, not even a local one.So then I read the other day that you could type in the IP, Subnet and Gateway address from the working PC into the laptop and things should work. Well, I did this. Yes, I did get a local connection but still nothing on the Internet side. Then I thought, hmm maybe it needs to be done threw a router. I had a NETGEAR (Fast Ethernet Switch) FS 108 so I hooked everything up to that.
My PC connection works great. Very fast. However the laptop still, no luck. I left the IP, Subnet and Gateway address the same on the laptop. At first I got a error message saying that there was two machines on the same network using the same IP address(or something to that effect). So, I went back to the lap top and clicked to obtain a address. And got no connection at all. No local or internet. On the laptop I have released and renewed using the various Ipconfig commands. I have pinged the new address and it was a success. That address is 169.254.181.107. I Pinged the Subnet and it too cam back a success. I tried pinging a web page and no luck at all. I also have power cycled everything. And still the same result. Oh and when I did the Ipconfig /renew to get the address above it never did give me a default gateway. It came up blank.The laptop did have Norton Internet protection on it so disabled it. Or at lest I think I did. I right clicked on it and disabled it. So, I think I did it right. I also disabled the windows firewall and still no luck.The PC connections work great and it's hooked up threw the router as well. Just having trouble with the laptop.I would run the Ipconfig /all cmd on the laptop, but as I said I cant hook it up to the computer nor do I have any recordable CD's or a usb drive.
