D-Link DIR-655 :: Internet Connection To All Computers Would Just Stop

I have the DIR-655 Hardware version B1, Firmware version 2.00NA and everything has been working fine for about 3 months. Lately the internet connection to all the computers would just stop. All the computers are connected to the router and the router is connected to the cable modem and their is no indication of a problem. The lights are all on and the router status shows the cable status as connected and the network status as established. I can't open any webpages, or all the ping would time out. It happens on all device, Windows Vista/7 PC, Mac computer, Linux laptop, and iPhone/ iPad. The problem gets fixed when I reset the router or just wait about 5-10 minutes and the problem goes away. That normally isn't a problem, but it's starting to happen twice a day now and it is really really annoying when I'm playing games. I tried the FAQ and searching the forums, but in vain.

I recently purchased a dir 655 router and it works fine but in after a while of using it, the wifi signal will stop broadcasting my other computers still work with the internet that are hard wired but the ones im using through the wifi signal will loose connection. So my fix has been unplugging the router and plugging it back in then it will broadcast my wifi again. I tryed leaving it plugged in and refreshing and rebooting my computers but that wont fix it until i disconnect the router and plug it back.

When I browse or surf the internet with my computer, it causes the router to stop working on all devices connected to it. This includes my laptops, iphone, ps3 and other desktop. However, if I or anyone else connected to the router had a stream running on youtube, a file that is downloading, a game running online or voicechat with ventrillo, nothing happens to those processes. I just can't start a new download, or open a new tab, or start anything that requires internet connection.I've tried using different browsers, I've tried updating my computer, using different ports both on my computer and the router, shutting off all my firewalls, factory resetting my router and nothing works.I've narrowed the problem down to an issue with my computer as this would never happen to any other or device. This problem ONLY happens when I surf the web or view/open websites.The only way I can fix the problem is by walking up to my router and restarting the router (the router only) and waiting a minute for my computer to reconnect.I've noticed that the router stops working when I go to sites or links that have on screen popups of flash or java. When I check my network connection after the internet stops working, the rate of packets received becomes dramatically reduced.

I recently switched from a DSL ISP (Earthlink, Zyxel modem configured as a bridge, pppoE connect) to a cable ISP (Comcast, Arris cable modem, dhcp connect). Basically PC --> DIR615-->Cable modem-->Internets. With the old DSL the Internet activity LED (green, looks triangular) on the DIR615 blinked only when internet activity occurred. With the new Comcast connection it blinks non-stop about 5 times a second! Even if the PC is turned off it blinks. It stops blinking if I disconnect the ethernet cable between router and modem. The connection itself is fine, but if the DIR615 is doing something it should not be doing it might slow the connection down a bit, (or burn something out prematurely?)FYI, the Arris cable modem does not seem to be a router. It takes a cable connection from outside and provides a single ethernet cable and 2 (voice) telephone cables to the house.

problem is that my internet traffic slows down to a stop after 5 minutes or so of activity. It is not a complete stop, sometimes I may get a tiny burst of traffic after 2 minutes or more of inactivity. I am connected via an ADSL wireless routerOther computers on the (windows workgroup) network do NOT have this problem. I am able to communicate normally with other local network computers. How I can stop a local internet connection from using my computer, or the router? I am using high speed through frontier. I have deleted this local internet connection once before. I just installed the X2000 and managed to get my Win7 Home Premium to connected to the Internet and also one wireless device. I previously had just a modem. Sometimes, when my PC is up and running, I want to disconnect it from the Internet and later connect again. There is an icon on the lower right of my toolbar which, with my old modem, allowed me to connect and disconnect but it seems to know only about the old modem. Basically it operated by starting the sequence: All Control Panel Items>Network Connections>Broadband Connection. Now this function does work; it tries to connect (through "WAN Miniport (PPPOE)") and gets "Error 651: The modem (or other connecting device) has reported an error". Can you tell me what where is the program that seems to start the Internet connection for the X2000 and if I can change parameters for the Win7 "Broadband Connection" to use the X2000? Perhaps the parameter "Connect on Demand" in the "Basic Setup" of the X2000 is involved?

I,ve used a network for a number of years with no problems. I have databases on computer 1 and access them with computer 2. After installing a Cisco e2500 I can connect to the databases but after a short period of time I am disconnected. If I search my network computer 1 is not found. Waiting a few minutes the network will find computer 1 again. At about the same time my firewall software has started to show an attack from an 2 different IP's I don't recognize but its always one of those 2 IP's. I'm assuming the two problems are related. I,ve considered going into my firewall and allowing the unknown IP access, BUT who knows where that IP is coming from. I've checked the Cisco setup but couldn't find an IP address that matched the attacking IP address.

My ISP provides static ip based internet connection. I have setup my D-link DWR-113 router to access internet through it. I have also turned on DHCP in the router. But when I try to access internet using both of my computers simultaneously it doesn't work - none of the computers is able to load a webpage. And when I leave one computer I am able to surf without any problem.

My Dlink DIR-615 had worked flawlessly for almost 7 months now.But since last week it started showing problems.All the computers connected to LAN thru the switch could not access the Internet but the Server(192.168.0.100) which is connected to the DIR-615 could connect to the internet.the above screenshot was captured thru a laptop running Win7 Ultimate connected to the DIR-615 thru WiFi-n.Even after repeated Reloads the same error cropped up in the browsers in the computers connected thru the switch.The computers connected to the switch could access the Internet after I restarted the router.

Whenever I start a Cisco VPN from any machine on the network, DNS requests to the DIR-655 stop working. If I reboot the router, DNS starts working again (the VPN was left on). Why starting the Cisco VPN would freak out the router?

I live in a Townhome complex so inSSIDer displays a lot of wireless activity. I have noticed that many of the routers channels are listed as 6 + 2, 4 + 1, etc., while show only a single channel. I have been able to "temporarily" replicate this by setting the Channel Width on my DIR-655, by setting channel width to auto, and when I am successful it displays a speed of 300, both in my task bar and in inSSIDer. However, that is usually short lived and the channel for my router reverts back to a single channel and the displayed speed drops to 130 or 144. My neighbor's Netgear is rock solid at displaying dual channels. Well, that and besting my signal strength. :-)
I have the router manually to channel 8 because none of the routers, judged by their displayed strength, use it.So, I guess my question is; how do I stop my DIR-655 from dropping back to using a single channel, which I interpret 20MHz, even though it is set on auto?
