View 1 RepliesI have the DIR-655 Hardware version B1, Firmware version 2.00NA and everything has been working fine for about 3 months. Lately the internet connection to all the computers would just stop. All the computers are connected to the router and the router is connected to the cable modem and their is no indication of a problem. The lights are all on and the router status shows the cable status as connected and the network status as established. I can't open any webpages, or all the ping would time out. It happens on all device, Windows Vista/7 PC, Mac computer, Linux laptop, and iPhone/ iPad. The problem gets fixed when I reset the router or just wait about 5-10 minutes and the problem goes away. That normally isn't a problem, but it's starting to happen twice a day now and it is really really annoying when I'm playing games. I tried the FAQ and searching the forums, but in vain.

View 4 Replies View Relatedi want to share my internet connection in LAN. i have windows 7 in my system, and in my LAN PC having both XP-SP2 & Win7. I have a Teracom ADSL router (4Port) & D-link 8 Port Switch. i want to share my connection like this :
Router --->My Computer (Host)----> Then other computer in the LAN.
If I do a factory reset on a router, does that mean the computers on the LAN will not be able to access the Internet?but then the router will configure it's self automatically to re-allow connection ?

But when I try to access internet using both of my computers simultaneously it doesn't work - none of the computers is able to load a webpage. And when I leave one computer I am able to surf without any problem.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI just bought a "DLink Xtreme N Gigabit Router DIR-655" I configured it correctly. It works well for the wireless connection but my Lan connection (wired connection) does not work. The Lan computer connects to the router but cannot access the internet. All of my machines work OK with a Netgear G router, including the Lan computer.
View 9 Replies View RelatedMy DIR-655 has worked for 2 years, but can no longer access the internet. My ISP is (Rockbridge Global Village -sub of Ntelos) and my modem is a Zhone. My connection type is DHCP, QoS is set to active, and the IP address boxes are not being filled in. The cables check out ok and there is no problem connecting to the internet if I bypass the DIR-655 and connect direct to the modem. Hardware is A4 with firmware 1.21
Nothing has changed in the house with regards to new cordless phones or wireless devices and I am using the same Zhone modem. I have tried returning to factory defaults and reconfiguring.
I have bought a new router to my parents these days, it a DIR-615 HW H1 firmware version 8. We have a ZyXEL Prestige 2000 series DLS modem.
There is no problems with connection to the DIR-615 router, but the strange problem occurs when I plugs in the internet cable. At the beginning the internet start to work fine but after some time the internet does not work anymore. What may cause the problem? The internet works if I plug the internet cable in my computer and it also work with the old router.
Am about to set up my new DIR-655. I noticed that the routers default IP is 192.168.0.1 The router it replaces used 192.168.1.1Since I have several devises on the network with fixed IPs 192.168.1.x (printer and Stora) and since I do not want to change them, can I leave them as is?Also, last time I changed the IPs that the router hands out, many computer could no longer see each other on the network, due to firewall issues. So, can I set the router to use a range like 192.168.1.xx even though the routers address is not changed? orshould I just change the router IP to 192.168.1.1 and change the range. Also do I need to change the mask if I do any of this?

View 1 Replies View RelatedYesterday, my linksys router broke down suddenly. I went to the store and bought a new one, a d-link DIR-615. After plugging it in and setting it up, i tried loading web pages and it worked ok. It wasn't as fast as my linksys router but it was fine. When i tried loading youtube videos, that wasn't the same story. The videos didn't load. It started playing but then stopped after a couple of seconds. When i connected my computer directly to the modem, the videos loaded fast. There seems to be something wrong with the video streaming.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI recently bought a dlink 825 and it seems right out of the box the wired internet connection seems very poor. Wireless works fine but it on wired the router refuses to download any files larger than 300kb. Images won't load, files won't downloads, etc. I've swapped cables, tried two different computers, hard reset, loaded the 3.01 firmware and nothing seems to work. I went back to my old router and it works fine. I am able to transfer from computer to computer okay with the 825,The cable modem is a SA dpc2100.
View 3 Replies View RelatedHere is my configuration. My new DIR-601 router is connected this way. Wan port to Isp modem, LanP1 to a Win7 Pc1, LanP2 to a Linksys router, DHCP diisable using the 4 LAN ports as a switch in wich 2 Pc are connected 1) Win Xp PC2 and 2) Ubuntu 10.04 PC3.
The problem is , I can not access internet behind the telesyn switch, PC2 and PC3 have no access to Html servers on the Wan, except if I define PC2 or PC3 , only 1 allowed at a time, as DMZ. If I plug PC2 or PC3 directly in DIR-601 port everything is ok.
Why DIR601 port connected to a switch does not work the same way than conected to a PC. Any solution to give Internet access to PC behind a switch ?
NB: This work if I replace DIR601 with DIR620 router.
I have seen several posts regarding internet connection dropping. Mine does the same. I have a cable modem in front of the router. The router is setup with two SSID's (one 2.4GHz, and the other 5GHz). So often the connectivity to ENET drops, forcing me to power cycle the router. Other then the two SSID's, the router setup is factory default. I need to debug this. I have noriced that the DNS IP addresses do not show up under setup. Where do I start?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have some questions about DIR-655 want to ask.
1.I use it as a AP, no connection in the internet port, however I only see the DNS setting in the WAN interface, so some url setting can not normally run. Do it has AP mode or other setting that can resolve the DNS.
2.I notice that the Time will suddenly wrong something, even I set it to use local time or ntp.
3.I change the wireless setting to WPA Enterprise, and notice that always disconnect and reconnect, When it is disconnect, notebook and phone can not search the wireless, but ping in local is still alive, log also only show that reconnect, what is happen?
4.I run the internet wizard (not at beginning), I do not change new password in the second phase of wizard, however, after the end of wizard, restart the DIR 655, I can not use the password I set before to login and also I try to leave blank in password flied, it also failed, I use the same password in the user(not admin), I can login, is it the bug of wizard, if this situation need to reset the router, can I take the config first?
Everything was working fine, and various computers, tablets, and even my smartphone, all hooked up to my router without any problems. Somehow, this week, first my Asus U56E wouldn't connect (before all this it was automatic), and then my Google chromebook wouldn't connect either. The Asus is my main computer. And the reason for writing. I just mention the chromebook because they both quit connecting at same time, pretty much. But still my old xp netbook connects, as does my new google nexus7 tablet. And my nexus one phone. All hook to wifi, with no problem.I tried everything I could think of: This is a Dlink Dir615 router. Even set a new wireless network up, but it doesn't seem to connect. I ran the Windows Network Diagnostics, and it reset everything, and looked like it was fixing it, but no go. It said to investigate router or access point issues. I did what it said, and what has always worked with these problems. Turned off router for about 1/2 minute, then restarted it. Then did the same with the Cox motorola modem, *and* the router, but still, just doesn't want to connect. Wireless, that is...no problem with ethernet. Finally pushed the little pin in in the back of router, and reset the router entirely. Set all up again. Same thing happens, it just doesn't seem to recognize these two computers. So just to be sure, I used my nexus one as a wifi point: and these computers hook up fine, so it seems to be something with the router. My ISP is Cox. Cable. Router D-Link Dir 615, latest firmware. Modem Cox issue Motorola Surfboard. Antivirus Microsoft Security Essentials, and Win7 Firewall (I tried with these two turned off, but still no).I include the xirrus app's output...My wireless network on that app is 'phubai' and that is the one that won't connect. I had trouble bringing it up on Xirrus, too. It would only show when I would attempt to connnect, then it would disappear again.

We have two offices separated by a WAN.Office A is our main office that has all of our servers, including domain controllers and active directory, on our own network.Office B is a temp. office that is piggybacking off of our sister company's network, but the computers there still connect back to Office A servers to login/access services. However, Office B connects to the sister company's local domain controllers for DNS/WINS.We're having an issue where NetBIOS names of the other office are not always showing up when browsing for computers within the WinXP Windows Explorer (My Network Places --> Entire Network --> MS Windows Network --> domain A). It seems entirely random whether or not we can see the other office's computers. We can still ping/remote to them, but cannot browse to them.
It would normally be a non-issue, but some of our software apps require us to "Browse" to the network server location, rather than being able to type in the address, during installation. Can't install if we can't browse the Office A servers. Obviously has something to do with WINS not always populating/updating, but I'm not sure what or how to fix this.
i recently bought the dir-615, and i have 4 computers connected to it, 2 desktops with ethernet cables and 2 laptops with wifi. I want to know how to limit the internet speed on some computers, because i sometimes need full speed on my desktop. Is it possible within the router configuration interface?
View 1 Replies View RelatedHave another problem with my new rev B router.
I am trying to configure access control rules, but the list of computers (ip addresses and mac addresses) are empty, I have setup all of my devices with static ip's, they are all turned on and all have internet access. None of the systems including the one I am trying to configure the rules with are there, They don't show up in port forwarding either. Any one ever have this problem? I returned and DIR-825 Rev.b for this same problem because i thought it was defective.
I have tried rebooting the router, rebooting each pc and trying different ports on the router itself. There are wireless and wired computers that I am trying to setup but none of them show up. When I try to manually enter them into access control ie. 192.168.0.103 it will only allow me to put one computer in for each rule.
The old rev.A router this one replaced work perfectly fine with the same cables and computers setup the same way.
We inherited a soundbooth configuration Current Configuration:
1. Networked Projector interfaces directly with a PC through a second NIC
2. We can then control the projector through a web interface via the PC and the IP of the projector.
Desired New Configuration:
1. Maintain current configuration - but ADD a second computer (an iMac)
2. I want to split the connection coming from the projector to the 2 computers so that we can interface with the projector from both computers.
I was thinking I would need a switch but didn't know if there is any configuring I would need to do to get it to work.
