I am able to go in only one direction between the two computers on my Network. The Acer Netbook computer can access the Toshiba Laptop, but the reverse is not possible. Both computers run Windows Vista Basic and Windows Firewall. I can ping the Acer from the Toshiba, but when I try to copy a file it says I do not have permission.

I continually run into the probably of getting a limited connection after the computer goes to sleep and I wake it up. I attempt to automatically correct it, but this doesn't work. I try to use the command prompt with ipconfig/release ipconfig/renew and it doesn't work. Then I try to disconnect the adapter and it doesn't work. I also reset the modem and the router with no resolve. Most of the time the only thing that works is restarting the computer. In addition I do use DHCP static addresses for the computers on the network. What is causing this and how do I fixt it without restarting the computer?

What happens is that all our computers lose the internet connection from one moment to the next while the signal strength remains unchanged. when you try to sign back into the home network it is basically impossible. When rebooting the BT router it works, sometimes for a few moments only sometimes it lasts.I am wondering if the reason is that the computers are losing their ip address or has it something to do with the security key?
My ISP provides static ip based internet connection. I have setup my D-link DWR-113 router to access internet through it. I have also turned on DHCP in the router. But when I try to access internet using both of my computers simultaneously it doesn't work - none of the computers is able to load a webpage. And when I leave one computer I am able to surf without any problem.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have the DIR-655 Hardware version B1, Firmware version 2.00NA and everything has been working fine for about 3 months. Lately the internet connection to all the computers would just stop. All the computers are connected to the router and the router is connected to the cable modem and their is no indication of a problem. The lights are all on and the router status shows the cable status as connected and the network status as established. I can't open any webpages, or all the ping would time out. It happens on all device, Windows Vista/7 PC, Mac computer, Linux laptop, and iPhone/ iPad. The problem gets fixed when I reset the router or just wait about 5-10 minutes and the problem goes away. That normally isn't a problem, but it's starting to happen twice a day now and it is really really annoying when I'm playing games. I tried the FAQ and searching the forums, but in vain.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI am trying to set up a connection between 2 pc's. It's a direct cable connection. The problem that I am having is that the connection isn't gigabit. I know both network cards support gigabit. I checked in the device settings and in one pc I can see in the Speed & Duplex the 1Gbps option but on the other pc I can't see that option despite the fact that the network card is gigabit.
I have quite some files to copy from one pc onto another and I really need a good connection between them. I can't really remove the hard drive because it would void the warranty.
Could this be a driver issue or a cable issue? On both pc's I have windows 8.
The network card on the pc that doesn't have the 1 gbps option is an Atheros ar8161 card.
I am working on a business network that was setup by another tech. Basically the connection comes from the modem to a 16 port switch (13 being used), and is going to each computer.. I'm thinking of tossing a router between the modem and switch to see if this works. Basically what it is doing is each computer accesses a database on the server, and occasionally they are losing connection to the database.. I did change all of the stations to static IP as they were all dynamic.

Broadband connection is very slow and goes dormant even when moving mouse on web page to try to initiate applets. Computer locks or freezes constantly in between pages or when trying to open other pages on websites. Takes really long to try to do anything on computer when online.

I have a wireless router which works just fine. I can connect my laptop as well as my iPad to it. I also have a hard wire connection that goes to my computer which works just fine. how can I get my computer to see the other computers in the network? They just don't show up even though I have shared enabled. There is only one router, so I thought it might be automatic, but it doesn't seem to be.

My problem is the even though they are connected to the same wireless router and can each see the internet and the printer that online they cannot see each other. When I ping one from the other I get no response though they both receive responses from the router. I can't transfer files etc. It works a while ago but can't seem to get them connected again.

I have recently added a desktop running Windows 7 (wireless) to the system. When I turn on the Windows 7 machine, it sees the other two machines and I use the files from them easily. But after the new machine has been on awhile, it does not see the other computers. (I can, however, still access the shared files on it (the Windows 7 machine) from the other desktop (haven't checked the laptop). If I power down the Windows 7 and then turn it back on, the other machines show up immediately. I've got them all named to the same workgroup and in the network settings in the control panel, I think that it is set to discover the network.
