I have connected the Desktop PC to the router using a LAN cable, and laptop to router over WiFi. Both, PC and laptop are running on Windows 7 OS, are on same HomeGroup, have same username / password. Also, I have connected the Ethernet cable to LAN port 1 of the router.Click here to view a graphical representation of the network. Can't post image here, because I don't have 10 reputation points.Now, what I want is use connect to Internet using a 3G USB modem on one device and share it over the network on the other. I tried Huawei and Micromax 3G USB modem. Both obtain a new IP address whenever I connect to Internet (means they have dynamic IPs). Rest, both have Subnet Mask as 255.255.255.255 and Default Gateway as 0.0.0.0. In that case, I cannot directly share Internet from the modem. Preferred DNS is blank for now in both, laptop and PC.What I am planning to do is to connect to Internet on laptop using the 3G modem and share the Internet connection over laptop's Wi-Fi (as hotspot) using Connectify, which I have done already. That, I suppose, will broadcast a static IP to connect to.Now what I can't figure out is that what changes should I make to the network settings of the router and the PC so that PC connects to the Internet broadcast by Connectify?

Sep 29, 2012I know this sounds like a crazy question but i travel a lot and i like to play my PS3. When i go to a new hotel some have a open internet connection and others don't. I want to connect my laptop to the wifi and share it to a separate router with a WPA2-PSK so that i have a more secure connection on the play station. Now first is this even possible to do? I use to beable to share my internet connection from my phone through my laptop to my ps3. Now when i try to do that just with the wifi in the hotels it doesnt have a high enough security setting.

Apr 16, 2012My computer has developed a habit of spontaneously having no internet connection even though it says the signal is as strong as it can be. When I began to investigate the issue I ran some diagnostics and the Internet IP ping test failed. I have no idea what that means or how to fix it. I did do a ipconfig/all on a c prompt and have the results I can post if anybody wants to see that. Beyond this I can't lend much more except to say that when it happens I can click on the troubleshooting and while it is trying to determine what the problem is (usually takes at most 30 seconds) the issue resolves itself and I can resume doing what I was doing. Last night was the worst it ever has been I had to restart my computer completely but once it had gone through the boot process and was in Windows again it was fine.

Dec 19, 2012i have 2 dell computers (and more but just worried about these two for now)... mainpc and sparepc, i had sparepc hooked to my tv and all pc's in the house, and a tv, networked to it... it all worked great, after a few minutes of setting it up... and then the hard drive crashed on spare pc and i got a new one, installed windows again both pc's use the same installation disk both pc's are hooked to a workswitch, which is hooked to a uverse gateway (router)... but it should be noted that hooking everything to wireless changes nothing... i get the same results can reach out to anything in the house and network great... but nothing can connect to sparepc... it keeps asking for username/password, even tho none is set I've gone through all the file sharing, homegroup, and folder options... ive reset ownership on folders and permissions... ive tried making/changing user profiles... but i cannot get from mainpc to sparepc home group does not work because the network does not work. as soon as the network works, homegroup will spring to life (at least, thats what happened the last time) if i right click on a folder, go to properties, share tab, and hit the share button... it asks for permissions for users... i set them, hit share, and it comes up and says, "you cant share this folder" ... with no explanation
