Mar 9, 2011I want to share one folder in my network but it can be accessed by only specific computers in the workgroup, not all. How I can do that? I want to restrict other computers.

Two Dell Computers - Unable To Share Folders
Dec 19, 2012i have 2 dell computers (and more but just worried about these two for now)... mainpc and sparepc, i had sparepc hooked to my tv and all pc's in the house, and a tv, networked to it... it all worked great, after a few minutes of setting it up... and then the hard drive crashed on spare pc and i got a new one, installed windows again both pc's use the same installation disk both pc's are hooked to a workswitch, which is hooked to a uverse gateway (router)... but it should be noted that hooking everything to wireless changes nothing... i get the same results can reach out to anything in the house and network great... but nothing can connect to sparepc... it keeps asking for username/password, even tho none is set I've gone through all the file sharing, homegroup, and folder options... ive reset ownership on folders and permissions... ive tried making/changing user profiles... but i cannot get from mainpc to sparepc home group does not work because the network does not work. as soon as the network works, homegroup will spring to life (at least, thats what happened the last time) if i right click on a folder, go to properties, share tab, and hit the share button... it asks for permissions for users... i set them, hit share, and it comes up and says, "you cant share this folder" ... with no explanation

Jun 2, 2012Let me start off by saying both computers are running Windows 7 Pro x64, both have file and printer sharing turned on, use 128-bit encryption, password protected sharing is off and Windows manages homegroup connections.
Computer A cannot access its own or others shared network folders through the network icon on the desktop, I get the message "Windows cannot access \Computer-AMy Documents" and if I try to access Computer B it gives me "Windows cannot access \Computer-B". Computer B can access Computer A through the network with no problems. The folders have had the permissions set to Everyone.

Jul 24, 2011I have two work laptops connected wireless on my home network. I can see the computers and ping them but i can't see shared folders. These work fine at work. On wireless i am set for obtain address from router DHCP (linksys E3200). Both are on the same ip range. Both are on Win XP pro. I have Everyone in all share permissions and also in the security tab. Both machines when at work are on the same domain but one is a local user on the domain. Simple file share is not selected.

I just got the TL-WDR3600.
It seems to work fine and my Smart TV recognizes my network drive or usb hdd connected to the router.
However, the files on the network drive or usb hdd don't seem to appear/work. The folder the files are stored in are recognized, but not the files themselves.
I've plugged the usb HDD directly to the TV and it recognizes and plays the movie files fine, however when trying to find them via the wireless router, they don't appear/work.
Are there some settings i need to change to allow the TV to see/play the files?

Jun 3, 2012How to share a specific folder via LAN and enable permissions.More specifically, I'd like to share this laptop (Win 7 OS) with my Android PMP and Linux laptop (Mint OS) and grant it "full control" (read and write permissions) without granting "Everyone" control and without adding separate users with pw onto this laptop.(scroll to end of the post to skip details)Let's say the folder that I want to share is called "Bouncy." I right-clicked on "Bouncy", clicked on "Preferences", then enabled " Share.."to "Network Path: \MYCPUNAMEBouncy" and allowed Guest and Homegroup read/write privileges. From my Linux, I "Connected to Server" but couldn't connect.Under "Advanced Sharing" in Windows 7, I clicked "Share this folder" and created a profile under "Share name" => "Share name: Bouncy".I can connect from the Linux, but can't write to the Win 7 folder.
In "Advanced Sharing", under "Permissions for Bouncy", the "Group: Everyone" only has Read permissions. I clicked on "Add" and "Selected the object type: Users, Groups, or Built-in security principles" "From this location: MYCPUNAME". Under "Enter the object names to select" I wasn't quite sure what to write, so I clicked on "Advanced". The search results from "Find names" with these settings yield a ton of names that I'll omit. I first clicked on "MYNAME" in "My Folder": "MYCPUNAME". No access from Linux.I then changed the permissions to "Network", allowed full control permissions and now was able add files from my Linux. Which is good.How do I make it so that only a few specific IP addresses or Users (PMP and Linux laptop) have full control? How do I make it so that a password is required to access from LAN with full control?
Home Network :: Can See Network Share But Not Access Folders?
Aug 30, 2011I have bought a new laptop and added it to my home network , two pc's and two laptops all running win 7. I share all drives on all machines. I know this is not very professional but it works for me.From the new laptop I can see all the network and see all the different drive folders but can only access the user folder on any PC from the new laptop. Also I can see the drives on the new laptop but only access the new laptops user folder from any other PC. I have checked this through a LAN cable and wireless with no difference.As the other PC's can see each other as normal I can only think there's a problem with the set up in the new laptop. I also note when I first try and access any other pc from the new laptop I am asked a domain name and password , I can put anything in these boxes and get to see the network but as I said above only access the user folders. My project involves 1 computer and a firewall. My goal is to use the firewall to allow access to the internet for that computer which uses a static IP 192.168.1.5 and ONLY for that IP address. The firewall is connected to the internet.
I have the computer hooked up to the firewall with the serial and using hyper terminal to enter commands. I think I need to use access lists in order to deny traffic on those ports for those particular hosts. I can't figure out exactly how I need to set it up.
What I need to do is permit internet access for 192.168.1.5 alone. Any other IP should not be able to access the internet.
I tried:
access-list 1 permit tcp host 192.168.1.5 any eq 80
access-group 1 in interface inside
I cannot access the internet using the computer with 192.168.1.5. The goal is to be able to access with that IP and no other.

So that I myself will have decent speeds while hampering all of the other household connections.
