4 pcs are connected to a adsl bb router having 4 lan ports. i have removed the adsl cable going to the bb router cos bb giving problems. i m then connecting to internet on any one pc using a tata photon usb device. i want to share this internet on other 3 pcs. those 3 pcs are getting their ips from the bb router in 192.168.1.x series. all pcs are pinging to gateway ie 192.168.1.1 but not pinging each other. why?

I went out and bought a linksys 5 port workgroup switch. I tried to hook my internet into it and my other computers into it , THINKING, I would be able to get internet on all. No go. I can get inter net on one, as you can tell. but all others nothing. and to make matters worse i got win 2000, win xp pro, and linux that I like to get online.. I have : renewed IP's assin Ip's refresh, purge dns. rebooted. all and rebooted in diferent orders. double checked connections, tested all lines. The network is on a rj45 ethernet .

I am now using my dell optiplex 755, with windows xp sp3. The first set up was with wireless ,which works fine, but now I am trying to use the ethernet to netgear switch, to comcast modem, from dell desktop, I get error that says,TCP/IP is not enabled for thisconnection.Can not proceed. I have also tried to repair local connection with the Icon at the bottom, it has error that says ,local area connection.This connection has limited or no connectivity.do I need a new IP address for the this connection? I'm Using D-Link DIR 600 wireless router with my desktop CPU (Windows XP Professional SP1) using wired connection and Dell laptop (Windows 7 Ultimate) connected wirelessly. My problem is that I am able to access internet on bothsystems but they cannot see each other in network places. I am unable to sharefiles between the them. I'm having trouble trying to connect 3 computers via LAN for gaming using straight Ethernet cables and a net gear router. Only 2 computers seem to connect at a time. All 3 can connect to one another (one at a time) and the I.P. addresses have been set to 192.168.0.1 , 192.168.0.2 and 192.168.0.3. The cables work fine and the computers, but I'm wondering if I'm using the wrong kind of hub/router?

My new employer has asked me to determine any issues that could be causing performance issues our LAN. The network has two subnets and one of the first things that I noticed is that I cannot ping computers on subnet A from subnet B. I've looked into this and found a few things.-I CANNOT traceroute to computers on subnet B from subnet A-I CAN NMAP to computers on subnet B from subnet A-Computers on subnet A CAN ping other computers on subnet A and computers on subnet B CAN ping other computers on subnet B-Computers on subnet A CAN ping and access servers on subnet BI am relatively new to networking and not exactly sure where to start investigating this problem.

I recently got a new Toshiba laptop, which works perfectly. We already have an HP desktop PC as well as a Dell laptop, which are both connected to an Ethernet router. When I got my Toshiba, I couldn't connect to the router, whether from a new Internet cable, the cable the Dell uses, or the cable the HP uses (it works perfectly fine with Wifi). The next day I got up early and tried again, and it worked. The HP was turned on, and it connected. But then the Dell wouldn't. Over the next couple days, we realized the problem was that the router only allowed the first two computers that were connected to it to connect to the Internet, but not the third one. The router itself allows eight cables to be plugged into it at a time, so I don't see why it's only allowing two computers, whether laptop or desktop, to connect. Is there a possible solution to this?It's an 8-Port Workgroup Switch, Model EZXS88W.Also, our router DOES NOT support Wifi

When I try to set up my Belkin mondem router I can only get local connection only as soon as i remove the wired setup cable. The routor itself is connect to the internet and other laptops can connect when given the password. I tried to set it up on a different laptop and got the same result. I have reset the factory setting and tried again with the same result I connect to the routor but not the internet. If I reconnect my talktlalk routor there is no problem.

I know this is sort of a stupid question, but I just spent over an hour with a Microsoft Tech Support guy who had absolutely no clue what he was doing. He frequently paused for five minute intervals to "confer with his resources" (I suspect he was reading an outline that told him what to do), and every time I explained that an issue did not work precisely as he expected, he had to put me on hold and talk to someone else. I work as a System Administrator for a small company. Can i share a CD drive to all the computers in my domain. Or does this require any additional software to do all this. Because i tried to do it normally by sharing that CD drive and by which it was also available in my network. But when i was trying to access that it says "The drive is not ready". We use Windows operating system in our network. I even tried to google this but i could not find any exact answer for this till now.

I have several computers wirelessly connected through a "LevelOne" access pont. I connected network Peripherals as follows.(router/switch/access point/PC-01 or PC-02)one access point connected with 4 PCs with one usb printer.this printer connected with one pc.4 pcs are in same home group.They were worked well before, but now the computers cannot ping each other.Many time clint pc can't connect to server pc (Printer attached pc).rinter shows offline.advanced sharing settings are normal as microsoft. Firewall disabled.

i have 2 dell computers (and more but just worried about these two for now)... mainpc and sparepc, i had sparepc hooked to my tv and all pc's in the house, and a tv, networked to it... it all worked great, after a few minutes of setting it up... and then the hard drive crashed on spare pc and i got a new one, installed windows again both pc's use the same installation disk both pc's are hooked to a workswitch, which is hooked to a uverse gateway (router)... but it should be noted that hooking everything to wireless changes nothing... i get the same results can reach out to anything in the house and network great... but nothing can connect to sparepc... it keeps asking for username/password, even tho none is set I've gone through all the file sharing, homegroup, and folder options... ive reset ownership on folders and permissions... ive tried making/changing user profiles... but i cannot get from mainpc to sparepc home group does not work because the network does not work. as soon as the network works, homegroup will spring to life (at least, thats what happened the last time) if i right click on a folder, go to properties, share tab, and hit the share button... it asks for permissions for users... i set them, hit share, and it comes up and says, "you cant share this folder" ... with no explanation

I am not able to share files with computers past my Client Bridge. I can see one computer past the bridge in my network and two more can see but all have internet, but still can not access ant to get to their shared folders. Do not know if operating systems would made a difference, I main computer run Windows 7 Pro 64 bit. all the rest run XP Home. Have two computers before the bridge no problem there.
