Cisco Routers :: RV120W - Implement Security To Keep Internet And Non-internet Vlan Computers?
Sep 4, 2011
I have a RV120W Firewall and I've created 3 Vlans. One for Internet Access Computers, One for non-Internet access, one for printers. How can I implement security to keep Internet and non-internet vlan computers from communicating with one anothers? Both computer vlans will need to communicate with printer

I have installed an RV120W router specifically for the VPN capability. I have a small home office with 3 Win7 computers and a SeaGate GoFlex Home NAS drive opperating on the RV120W LAN. I need to allow users to access these networked computers and NAS device over the VPN by mapping their IP locations, such as 192.168.100.155, which is the local IP assigned by the router.
I am able to establish a QuickVPN connection without trouble. I had to set the port to 60443 as it was conflicting with the NAS drive, but this resolved that problem.
I am able to ping the router without any problem over the VPN using the local IP address. I am able to pull up the NAS web portal off the drive via the local IP address using a broswer. Therefore, I know I am talking to the drive via port 443 (I think that is the right port for http). I CANNOT ping the NAS drive over the VPN. I CANNOT ping ANY of the computers or the NAS over the VPN.
Through my reading it appears that a port is being blocked that might need to be opened. But, in the same readings, they say you should use a VPN so that you don't have any issues with blocked ports. I thought I was using a VPN!
I am testing the VPN on a WIN7 Pro laptop with the most current QuickVPN installed. I have also update the firmware on the router to the most current as well.
When I do an ipconfig /all command and look at what I think is the VPN information, there does not appear to be any tunnels established. I don't know if this matters, but thought it odd since I do have a VPN established.
I have enabled PING in the firewall and unchecked the Block Fragment Packets.
I should also note that I can remote manage the router using the 60443 port and an https connection to the local ip address, so clearing there is a connection. SO WHY CAN"T I SEE ANY OF MY WIN 7 COMPUTERS OR MY NAS DRIVE?
I have burned a lot of time on this and without the VPN capabilities, this router does me not good.

I have a Cisco RV120W router with 1.0.4.10 firmware. The router drop the internet connections, freeze/timeout in admin interface randomly. How can I determine that this is the router's fault, or if it's the switch / internet access is causing it?

I need to configure a rv120w in order to make it work at the same time for data and digital tv. The fact is that the set top box for the idtv needs an IP address that will be delivered directly from the ISP. So I need to setup one LAN port that will be bridged to the WLAN connection (the stb will be connected to that lan port), and another port that will be connected to the LAN swicth so that the rest of the network has internet access. I can't see anywhere a way to create such a bridge. Quite disappointing as it's possible to do so on open source platforms such as openWRT..

I have setup a site-to-site VPN tunnel between 2 sites using CISCO rv120w.Everything works fine; any PC on one site can access all systems on the other site and vice-versa.The issue I have is when I start a VPN connection another site on Internet using IPSecuritas.I can initiate a VPN to site 1 and site 2; but when connected, I can only access servers that are located into the same site I'm connected to; I cannot ping the remote site. The Range of IP addresses on the internet during my tests is 192.168.11.0 (I 'm using a Mac)
-Systems with IP 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.10.1 are bridges
-Systems with IP 192.168.1.2 and 192.168.10.2 are CISCO rv120w

We have a RV120W Wireless-N VPN Firewall and we want to configure the router in brigde mode (transparent). Because we have another Firewall, use for filtering and default gateway on the LAN. The ISP provide IP address by DHCP, so we must connect the internet connexion to the WAN interface. But How can we do for connected the RV120W to our firewall? The router mode on the RV120w allows-it to make this configuration?

My operations manager says "Could you go on-site and configure a new clients new internet connection?" I make the arrangements and go on-site. As I'm working with the providers tech he says "Do you have a sub-interface confgured for a dot1q VLAN id of 1057?", I say "What?". Anyway my firewall is not capable of dot1q VLAN, so he says "Do you have a Cisco router that can provide the trunking?", I say "Yes, I tink so but not with me". The question is can I use an SR520 between my firewall and the provider demarc to route the VLAN he is talking about? My initial discovery says yes but I am not quite sure of the details on how to achieve this on the SR520.

My company has a peer to peer network of 10 personal computers without a server. Operating systems from Windows XP to Vista. I've recently installed a Cisco RV120W Wireless-N VPN Firewall. It's configured in DHCP Server Mode with printers/copiers that have static IPs below the DHCP range.
I'm having a problem with certain stations being used for personal networking, shopping, etc. during business hours. Consequently I would like to limit internet access on these stations. However, some internet access is required because of online database software that's an integral part of our business. I've been reading in the Administration Guide about URL Blocking. Would it be possible to give static IPs to certain stations and then limit their internet access to 1 or 2 specific websites?
FYI, I've read about the Trusted Domains and Blocked Keywords but cannot quite understand how to parley this into the solution I need.

I want to implement Active/Standby cluster with a pair of 5550 ASAs and I have a licensing question. Here is the "sh activation-key detail" output from both devices...
ASA1:
sh activation-key detail:
Serial Number: XXXXX
No active temporary key.
Running Activation Key: XXXXX XXXXX XXXXX XXXXX XXXXX
[code]....
This platform has an ASA 5550 VPN Premium license. The flash activation key is the SAME as the running key.So it looks obvious that I'll have to upgrade the first ASA to support 25 SSL VPN Peers in order to build HA cluster, right? Now I want to know do I need the "ASA5505-SSL25-K9" license or something else.

Required by regulations to implement CoPP on our routers, I installed the following configuration on a C2811 router pair with integrated DSU/CSU cards connecting a point T1. STAC compression(software) is configured on the serial interfaces and the link is often congested.
[code]...
This configuration severely degraded the IP traffic flow and I had to remove it. Not having any practical experince with CoPP.

I would like to set up a site to site VNP connection between 2 RV120W routers, preferably via IPsec.
The problem is that I would like/have to use a 4G modem router (model TINY) which connects to internet in front of the RV120W (on the local side)
I have no problem with that on the remote site that RV120 connects directly to internet via a public IP address on the WAN port.
Local network 192.168.1/24-----RV120W----192.168.100.1—Tiny---Public IP--------INTERNET
INTERNET--------PublicIP—RV120W—Remote local network 192.168.2/24

First 3 days ago i came in to my work and my 2 Desktop computers where not connecting to the internet. After trouble shooting i found that my cell phone and wireless computer would connect. then hardwiring with my cat5 cable my laptop worked as well. i couldn't connect to the router as well from the 2 Desktop computers. restarted every thing router modem computers ext. nothing. Then i tried ping tests nothing could not ping each other or the router. though the network map clealy told me the ip addresses of each computer and that it was connecting. then as though from random i tried again to log in to the router. 192.168.2.1 and one of my computers found it and could then connect to the internet.

Upgraded to 1.0.2.6 and all of a sudden SIP devices working over the VPN no longer work. Downgrade to 1.0.1.3 and they work again. My guess is that some ports are blocked over the VPN in 1.0.2.6
I thought the general idea was that firmware ugrades fixed bugs rather than introducing them.
Suggestion for Cisco:- Zip the firmware image downloads, or else have an upgrade process that includes a CRC check, that way at least the poor punter will have an indication if they have been corrupted. I had a subtle memory problem that was corrupting some files. The firmware upload appeared to complete properly and you could log on OK but some of the menu choices resulted in a hang with the "Please wait... the page is being loaded" message. Careful checking of file sizes revealed that the file I was uploading into the router was a few hundred bytes different in size to the one on the website, must have been corrupted during the download. But the upload proceeded normally with no indication of any error. It's a pretty basic safeguard that should be in there as a matter of course with the router performing a CRC check and showing an error if it fails.
