I have a Cisco RV120W router with 1.0.4.10 firmware. The router drop the internet connections, freeze/timeout in admin interface randomly. How can I determine that this is the router's fault, or if it's the switch / internet access is causing it?

Problem:The end devices suddenly drop connection. Wired connection works just fine. The DROPPED device can not be reconnected. On MAC I get AUTH time out. I see the SSID being broadcasted from my HTC wireless analyster so radio may not be the problem. I changed to set the speed to G only or N only but not avail. ONLY way to recover from this is rebooting the router.
I have setup a site-to-site VPN tunnel between 2 sites using CISCO rv120w.Everything works fine; any PC on one site can access all systems on the other site and vice-versa.The issue I have is when I start a VPN connection another site on Internet using IPSecuritas.I can initiate a VPN to site 1 and site 2; but when connected, I can only access servers that are located into the same site I'm connected to; I cannot ping the remote site.The Range of IP addresses on the internet during my tests is 192.168.11.0 (I 'm using a Mac)

We have a RV120W Wireless-N VPN Firewall and we want to configure the router in brigde mode (transparent). Because we have another Firewall, use for filtering and default gateway on the LAN. The ISP provide IP address by DHCP, so we must connect the internet connexion to the WAN interface. But How can we do for connected the RV120W to our firewall? The router mode on the RV120w allows-it to make this configuration?

It basically results in yahoo or google freezing for 20-60 seconds before unfreezing and running flawlessly again. A lot of times our users will have a bad connection from where they are connecting in from. Their Internet connection will drop and the VPN Client disconnects but on our Cisco ASA5520, the connection will still be connected and when their Internet connections comes back, they are not able to connect as the session is still up on the 5520. Is there a way to make the connection clear quicker? I have IKE Keepalives on the RA Profile (Confidence 300 seconds, Retry Interval 2 seconds) but it seems to keep the session longer than that. Is there anything I can do to make the connection clear quicker?

It will constantly lose connection to the internet from my PC, IPod, Laptop etc. What will happen is a yellow warning triangle appears which tells me I've lost internet access. I have had the modem checked and replaced by the ISP with no success so it's likely that it's not a problem on their end. I've changed the wireless channel to move it away from my neighbours with no success.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI’ve bought a router, and a wireless antenna for my laptop, since I have a high-speed internet outlet in the living room, but I use my laptop in the kitchen (I don’t have any other pc). So I’ve configured my Linksys WRT120N router in the living room, unplugged the ethernet cable from my laptop, plugged the wireless antenna in the kitchen, and everything was working fine with the wireless network. After about one month I was not able anymore to enter my network with the security key, there was actually no prompt for the security key, just a message “Cannot connect to the network”. I then had to reconfigure the router, going to the router IP address (I used the default settings, a blank for username, and “admin” as a password, as per instructions), use another network name, security key and password, and was able to start again a wireless network with the wireless antenna as before. This problem represented other 3 times (in the last 3 months), and was working fine, but now I cannot reconfigure the router anymore, since the IP address doesn’t accept BLANK/ADMIN anymore, and if I go ahead and reconfigure the router a message says I have to use the default settings in the IP address…
View 2 Replies View RelatedI purchased a WRT110 router about a 18 months ago. I am currently experiencing an issue where the wireless connection to the router will become randomly erratic. My internet connection will slow down or drop entirely. Sometimes my laptop will disconnect from the router entirely. I don't think it's the wireless card in my laptop since I have seen the issue on my desktop using a wireless N USB adapter, my Nintendo Wii, and my wife's Macbook, all within the last week.
I am positive it is the router. I set up a coninuous ping command to the router accross my laptop's wireless using "ping -t 192.168.2.1" in a command prompt. Most of the time, the round trip is 1 to 3 ms or <1 ms. When I am experiencing the connection issues, the ping time will rise significantly, sometimes going as high as 2000 - 3000 ms. About 25% of time, the ping will just time out. When this starts happening, the only way I have been able to restore proper connectivity is to manually reboot the router. The issue eventually re-appears. Sometimes in a few days, sometimes in as little as five minutes. I've gone so far as to restore the router to factory defaults and reconfigure it, but that has not made a difference.
I have experienced some strange behavior of WiFi connection using WRT320N router. ISP provides me the internet in 2 modes (day and night). During day mode max speed is 24 Mb/s and during night 60 MB/s. Modem ADSL (Cisco EPC3010) is connected to Linksys WRT320N and on router is configured WiFi.Now issue. In the day mode everything is perfect. Cable connection gives me 24 MB/s and WiFi connection around 22 MB/s so not so bad. However when my internet speeds up to 60 Mb/s (cable connection via router gives exactly 60), WiFi connection instead speed up as well, just drop to max 17 Mb/s. I have tied several different settings on the router including changes in WiFi band, channel width, different channels (now channel is setup to 1 which is maybe not totally free but no so occupied) and others but unfortunately without significant improvement (in many cases connection just slowed down more).

Wireless configuration (now)
Band: 2.4GHz
Mode: Wireless-N only
Channel Width: Auto (20MHz or 40 MHz)
Channel: 1
Wireless adaptor: Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6230 (I know that this doesn’t mean anything but Win7 shows that connection is established with speed 144MB/s)Router firmware and WiFi card updated to the newest version.
I would like to set up a site to site VNP connection between 2 RV120W routers, preferably via IPsec.
The problem is that I would like/have to use a 4G modem router (model TINY) which connects to internet in front of the RV120W (on the local side)
I have no problem with that on the remote site that RV120 connects directly to internet via a public IP address on the WAN port.

I've a RV120W with the last firmware version (june 2011), i want to create two vpn tunnel:
- Professional: lan routing all packet for the 192.168.0.0/24 to the first VPN tunnel
- Other: all other address IP destination to a second VPN tunnel
The first tunnel (professional) is ok but what rules can i use to configure the second ?

View 1 Replies View RelatedUpgraded to 1.0.2.6 and all of a sudden SIP devices working over the VPN no longer work. Downgrade to 1.0.1.3 and they work again. My guess is that some ports are blocked over the VPN in 1.0.2.6
I thought the general idea was that firmware ugrades fixed bugs rather than introducing them.
Suggestion for Cisco:- Zip the firmware image downloads, or else have an upgrade process that includes a CRC check, that way at least the poor punter will have an indication if they have been corrupted. I had a subtle memory problem that was corrupting some files. The firmware upload appeared to complete properly and you could log on OK but some of the menu choices resulted in a hang with the "Please wait... the page is being loaded" message. Careful checking of file sizes revealed that the file I was uploading into the router was a few hundred bytes different in size to the one on the website, must have been corrupted during the download. But the upload proceeded normally with no indication of any error. It's a pretty basic safeguard that should be in there as a matter of course with the router performing a CRC check and showing an error if it fails.
I had WRT54G2 and recently switched to an RV120W. I have an Internet accessible camera system connected to my router. Before, this worked fine... there is a dns service (DynDNS.com) that is configured as part of the camera setup. I would then just enter [URL] and I would connect to the cameras. I install the new router (RV120W) and I can no longer connect to the cameras. I do not recall any configuring that I had to perform on the old router.

Now, I need to be able to reach the server (192.168.1.100) from a PC on LAN #2 with IP 192.168.2.50. So, I've created au static route on Office Router #2 (192.168.2.1) because of course it doesn't know how to reach private subnet 192.168.1.x. My static route looks like this :
192.168.1.0 / 24 (Destination network) --- 192.168.2.254 (Gateway)
...but it doesn't work, no ping. When I do a tracert to server IP (192.168.1.100) from PC on LAN #2 (192.168.2.50), the result is :
1st jump ---> 192.168.2.1
2nd jump --> 192.168.2.254
...and it doesn't go further.
I configured my RV120W (Firmware:1.0.2.6) to count the traffic on my network. I set the monthly limit to 99999 and did not change anything else.So after a few hours, the traffic counter shows 2048 MB for outgoing traffic. This is impossible, because the DSL-connection is too limited in upload to cause this huge outgoing traffic in 6-8 hours. When I reset the counter at night, the next morning the device shows 2048MB again (even if there was no traffic at all, just some clients syncing time with NTP). I did already reset the device to factory defaults and reconfigured everything from scratch.

The fact is that the set top box for the idtv needs an IP address that will be delivered directly from the ISP. So I need to setup one LAN port that will be bridged to the WLAN connection (the stb will be connected to that lan port), and another port that will be connected to the LAN swicth so that the rest of the network has internet access. I can't see anywhere a way to create such a bridge. Quite disappointing as it's possible to do so on open source platforms such as openWRT..

I have this fresh factor out-of-box install. I know this is most likely something to do with my laptop that I am trying to use to connect to the network. I have Frontier as my ISP for home.
