I have a Dell switch setup with 2 Vlan's. Vlan 1 is to the network. Vlan 20 is going to be for wireless access to the internet. How do I configure the switch/router so that Vlan 20 only connects to the internet and not the network? I will later want to have a 2nd SSID that I want to connect to both the internet and network.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am able to access the internet. I am running Windows 7 on my laptop and have a wired connection between it and my intergrated router. The internet works fine, but it seems to think that I am not connected to the network. I'm not certain it realized that I even had a network, since when I try to activate media sharing it just gets stuck at "Identifying Network". The whole purpose of this is to be able to play music from my computer on my Xbox 360, alternative solutions for this goal would be good too.

I currently have an Airport extreme hooked up to a cable modem and a leviton gateway hooked up to the Airport. The 2 computers connected to the Leviton are on a windows 7 homegroup and share fine, but won't share or discover any wireless device connected to Airport. My main goal is to have a wireless/wired network with all computers sharing information with each other. I want 2-3 wired switches/gateways with a min of 2 devices connected to each, connected to my wireless router whiich is connected to cable modem.

View 4 Replies View RelatedWe recently moved 8 pc's from a room where they each had port on the switch to a room where there is only one port for all of them. I setup a DLINK DIR632 Router in there and they connect thru the one port thru the switch to the gateway which gets them out to the internet.The problems is I need to be able to remote desktop into these 8 PC's and I need them to be able to print to the network printer. I am using a Linksys WRT54G Broadband router as the gateway connecting the switch to the internet. The DLINK's dhcp server is on for the 8 PC's. The Linksys' dhcp server shows the DLINK as IP 192.168.1.19 on the network.I know I have to use advanced routing settings but I'm not sure about how what to make the subnet mask and IP's on both routers. I believe I need to turn off the dhcp server on the DLINK and have the Linksys' dhcp server serve all of the PC's but I'm not sure if thats the best way or if its possible.. I don't want to hack out fix only to find it breaks 3 days later.I used to do this stuff all day long in the 90's but its been a while and to me its like calculus.

This is the "story" :
I bought two switches as described above and actually I have to create 2 VLANS as described below :
VLAN id 2 name "Service_A" ports 1-4
VLAN id 3 name "Service_B" ports 7-9
all other ports can stay in default VLAN1.
my network infrastructure have some other very simple swtiches connected and 1 soho router (static ip 192.168.1.1) with dhcp active and ip pool address released from 192.168.1.100 to 200.
the SG200-26 have static ip 192.168.1.254 and 192.168.1.253
MY NEEDS:
I need VLAN for privacy matter so all computer connected to ports in VLAN2 cannot see nor enumerate PCs and resources on other VLANs, but I also absolutely NEED that all computer in every ports (and every VLAN even default VLAN1) can access the internet.
I am following instructions I found to set up my wirelss network, but am having trouble configuring my router. I'm specifically at a standstill, because I can't connect to http://192.168.1.1. I pinged the router and got a response and went to run/ip config to confirm I have the right URL for the router, but still not able to get to the URL.

I tried to hook my internet into it and my other computers into it , THINKING, I would be able to get internet on all. No go. I can get inter net on one, as you can tell. but all others nothing. and to make matters worse i got win 2000, win xp pro, and linux that I like to get online.. I have : renewed IP's assin Ip's refresh, purge dns. rebooted. all and rebooted in diferent orders. double checked connections, tested all lines. The network is on a rj45 ethernet .

I have a RVS4000 and I am going to configure vlan in the near future. Among all other configurations sent by the internet provider company is this one :
Firewall NAT :
from x.x.2.0/24 to 0.0.0.0/24 should be NAT
from x.x.2.0/24 to x.x.0.0/21 should not be NAT
From all the other configurations, this one is not clear to me. Can this configuration be done on a RVS4000 and where can it be done.
I am using an SRP541W router and i am trying to configure 2 vlans, each one to use its own Wan:Here are the dhcprules and vlans:As can be seen, each one has its own wan interface.
Vlans:As can be seen, each vlan is using its own ports and dhcp rule, so, now they should be separate.
Both Wans are connected: So now (at least as i see things) the two vlans are separate and using different Wan. But the reality is different, everything is going out using Wan1.Also in the Interface Info you can see that the 2 vlans are listed under the Wan1.
The rest of router setting are default.
I use a Netgear FS605 Ethernet Switch to connect a wifi modem to my network and thus to the internet. People in that room can jump online via the wifi modem. You can also print to the wireless printer in that room via that wifi modem being local. However, I can no longer print to the wifi printer from anywhere else in my network (I could before I got a new router and wifi modem in there).Would this be a problem with this Switch or with the modem e.g.

The primary router is a linksys WRT360n and is stationed inside the main home, while the 2nd is a linksys WRT160N located in my office. I've connected them via the lan to lan configuration and have disabled DHCP server on the 2nd. I can access the 2nd router via my primary PC but am unable to access the internet or see the primary from the PC connected to the 2nd router.
