View 2 Replies View RelatedI am able to access the internet. I am running Windows 7 on my laptop and have a wired connection between it and my intergrated router. The internet works fine, but it seems to think that I am not connected to the network. I'm not certain it realized that I even had a network, since when I try to activate media sharing it just gets stuck at "Identifying Network". The whole purpose of this is to be able to play music from my computer on my Xbox 360, alternative solutions for this goal would be good too.

All PC cannot access Internet, So I reset the modem, wait for a few minutes, if I am lucky, Internet comes back, sometimes have to wait longer 15mins or 30 mins2. I went out and bought a linksys 5 port workgroup switch. I tried to hook my internet into it and my other computers into it , THINKING, I would be able to get internet on all. No go. I can get inter net on one, as you can tell. but all others nothing. and to make matters worse i got win 2000, win xp pro, and linux that I like to get online.. I have : renewed IP's assin Ip's refresh, purge dns. rebooted. all and rebooted in diferent orders. double checked connections, tested all lines. The network is on a rj45 ethernet .

View 5 Replies View Relatedwhere i am from, the houses are made of conrete. so obviously my wi-fi degrades. i currently have 1 basic wireless g linksys router set up, in my bedroom as thats where the primarry devices are. there is a portion of the house where the signal is non existant and i want to set up a 2nd wireless router for that area to have signal. its a fairly large house with 4 bedrooms.here is a breakdown of the device priority:
The main room (my room, east end of house)
Gaming PC (gaming, downloading, netflix streaming) non wireless
Wife's Laptop (occasional streaming, general internet surfing)
PS3 (gaming and netflix streaming)
Ipad (streaming)

The general purpose of all this is just have wireless across the whole house for mobility, my room is the priority as far as bandwidth usage and coverage.Also i will be purchasing an N router for my room and moving the G router to my moms.
I have a house with two flours and all rooms have an ethernet port.The first flour has a main router which all rooms connect to (via wires) and this router dials to the internet. This router is also responsible for DHCP etc, and its a D-Link 6740VN.The other flour has the following setup: Wall-> Cross Cable -> D-link 2760U Router -> PC.My goal is to have two routers that broadcast wireless access. So when I'm on the first flour I'm connected to the main router, and when I move around the house with my phone I want to pick up the second router automatically.I've tried all sorts of combinations and settings and can't get it to work.
1. Tried setting different SSIDs, channels etc but the phone won't switch routers because the range is overlapping.
2. Tried setting the same SSID, channel, security, etc... also no luck. The phone only sees one AP but I don't see improved signal as I move around.
3. I don't want to use wireless bridging because a) It's slow and b) I have the wires in the walls and it feels like a wast.
I've got an E4200 at my house. I'd like to know if it's possible for my to establish a VPN connection from a remote location to login to my E4200 to get access to my computers behind the firewall.

I have a egenious ap/bridge model EOC2611P that is linked to my home network at my shop to my house. I have internet through the cat5 cable coming out of the bridge but having issues connecting that to the other wirless router. The second router is a linksys e1000. I live out in bfe so no network security seince my closest neighbor is a little over a mile away. I have dissabled DCHP on the linksys and thats where my knowledge stops. I know it can be done but how?

I just learned the hard way that the E4200 doesn't support that feature, and will only act as an access point if physically connected to the primary router that is connected to the internet.
Before I spend even more money on equipment, I was wondering if any of the experts here can tell me whether I can use a Linksys Bridge, like the WET610N or WES610N, to operate the second router in bridge mode and turn it into a wireless access point?
My ISP provides me internet by pppoe connection.When testing the connection with the router i get 30 mbps.When testing the conection without the router, cable conected to laptop i get 60 mpbs.

192.168.1.1 is a Linksys WRT610N acting as a router and DHCP server for addresses .100 to .150
192.168.1.2 is TEW-639 with DHCP turned off and connected to the Lynksys via one of the LAN ports.
I then have a FosCam camera with IP 192.168.1.010, connected either wirelessly or via a wire on a LAN port to the TEW-639W.
Here is my problem: If the FosCam is connected wirelessly to the TEW-639W I am unable to see it from any device connected to the Linksys. If I connect the FosCam via a wire to a LAN port on the TEW-639W then I can see it from a device connected to the Linksys device.If a device is connected to the network via the TEW-639, I can see the FosCam whether it is hardwired or wirelessly connected to the TEW-639. What am I doing wrong?Why can I not see the wireless connections on the TEW-639 from a Linksys connected device?,The setup is that the internet comes in and is connected to the Linksys, which then via LAN cable and LAN ports on both devices is connected to the TEW-639, which is then connected to the camera.
Can I have a wireless access point connected, by wire, to say 2 PCs and a wireless router connected to the internet (+ other PCs) and the link between the access point and router is wireless (i.e. not wired)

RV016 Router...Cisco 300 Series Switch - >3 more cisco switches connected...AP's.Running a 192.168.0.0 network.The web interface is down half the time. The router needs to be reset in order for me to access it again. Usually the login page appears but when I try to login the page does not leave the login area, only a small spinning icon beside the login area.Sometimes the page for DHCP status cannot be accessed and a reset is all I can do to access the router again.
Internet seems a little slow at times too.We were running the Netgear FVS336G before this and I wanted to move to the RV016 and have capability of more than two WAN's, plus have everything Cisco of course.

I need to buy a new wired and wireless router so I can sync my new Android 4G phone (I'm in an area with bad cell coverage but I can sync with wi-fi). I have a second house about 200 feet from mine and have 3 Cat5E lines running underground in conduit to it so the lady next door and and her two kids can use the internet (I have 40-50mb service for my business use at home). Problem is that my kids have discovered YouTube, streaming video, video chat, etc. and are burning up my bandwidth. I currently have two of the lines to them disconnected so that I can limit their use to one computer at a time. I'm considering having them buy a Wireless Access Point, can they connect it to the standard single Cat5E LAN wire that is coming from my new wired and wireless router when I buy it?

I am looking to extend the wireless range of my network into the kitchen at the other end of the house, which is a rather large distance away. The house is 200 years old with large corridors and thick walls. There is absolutely no wireless range from about halfway between the office and kitchen. I initially tried two powerline adapters which did not work. Having spoken with an electrician who carried out a rewire on the house, I have been advised that the two areas are on a separate ring main.I considered using two wireless range extenders, but have been told that the signal is halved for each extender that I use.So, I have had the idea of trying to use two DSL routers at each side of the house. There is a phone point in the office and also in the kitchen, where the second router would plug into. These are both on the same telephone line.

View 2 Replies View RelatedIt has always been the case with my laptop and another usb N adapter I bought a while back but this time when i upgraded my PC and got a DWA-552 adapter and the problem occurs again I was forced to try and debug it.PingPlotter had a constant ping check on my router's network address every second, every few minutes and sometimes seconds apart there would be 100+ ping spikes which always correlate with troublesome lag spikes in-game. And that's with Roaming Policy set to very low. Once set to normal it got much worse with 500+ ping spikes, and just to cement the correlation I set the policy to very high and 1000+ ping spikes happened.Could it be that DIR655 incorrectly reports to the adapter that it is about to drop the connection forcing a roam that results in nothing but a latency hiccup? I am not well versed in wireless mechanics. These ping spikes are often accompanied with packet loss.My DIR655 has several G cards connected to it (which work fine btw, my 552 seems to work fine in G mode too though I haven't tested it extensively yet - may be forced to since dir655 appears to be bugged with N mode) and several N cards that aren't used for gaming so this issue has never been a problem before.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just switched over from AT&T Uverse to time Warner cable for Internet. I bought a Motorola Surfboard sbg6580. I have the surfboard hooked up and all is well. Now I would like to do in put the old 2wire from AT&T in a room upstairs and use it as place I can plug in the Ethernet cords and also transmit another signal. I have what's a called plug link that is plugged in down stairs and then another upstairs and it allows the Internet signal to run through the power lines. So it just about the equivalent of running a cord for down stairs to upstairs. So basically I just need to plug more then 1 thing upstairs that isn't wireless and I would also like to transmit a 2.4ghz signal upstairs and use my Motorola to transmit a 5ghz.How would I set up the 2wire to do this.
