I am trying to setup internet access and intranet access using two cards per PC. I don't have sever software and I want to be able to share files between several machines. I have two routers. One that connects to cable modem and one that connects to intranet side. I have assigned different static ip addresses to both cards.

How do I configure the switch/router so that Vlan 20 only connects to the internet and not the network? I will later want to have a 2nd SSID that I want to connect to both the internet and network.

I've tried ad-hoc but it limits me to using the preset shared folders only, and its frustrating to use as it breaks once a computer leaves the network.Anyways i just want to create an off-line wireless intranet that will remain persistent even when all computers have left it. The internet works fine, but it seems to think that I am not connected to the network. I'm not certain it realized that I even had a network, since when I try to activate media sharing it just gets stuck at "Identifying Network". The whole purpose of this is to be able to play music from my computer on my Xbox 360, alternative solutions for this goal would be good too.

I tried to hook my internet into it and my other computers into it , THINKING, I would be able to get internet on all. No go. I can get inter net on one, as you can tell. but all others nothing. and to make matters worse i got win 2000, win xp pro, and linux that I like to get online.. I have : renewed IP's assin Ip's refresh, purge dns. rebooted. all and rebooted in diferent orders. double checked connections, tested all lines. The network is on a rj45 ethernet .

The access point (a TP-Link WA801N) is only able to access the internet when it is plugged into a port that is on the default VLAN (PVID 1). If I plug it into one of the other VLANs then any clients connected to the WiFi lose access to the internet and cannot access devices on the VLAN. It is able to connect to the router fine and says it has a connection but is unable to access anything. And this is accessing the router either wirelessly or wired through an ethernet cable. I know that it is not the router because her roommates are able to access the internet fine and her computer is also unable to access the internet from other networks. Is it possible that the network card in her laptop has died and needs to be replaced? or could it be a corrupted driver? Would using a usb network adapter be a temporary fix? View 3 Replies View RelatedI have 3 computers wired to a Netgear R6300. Two of those computers (both running XP SP 3) I added new LAN Gigabit Cards (Tenda TEL9901G) . One recognized the card right away and had no issue connecting to the Internet (using this computer now). The other shows a 1.0 Gbps connection but I can not get any web pages to come up. I can access other computers and devices on the network without an issue on the computer that doesn't connect to the Internet.
If I type in the web address it says "Server Not Found." If I type in the IP address it will come up with the name of the site in the address bar but it still says "Server Not Found." I've tried several times to unplug the router and modem (Motorola Surfboard) and restart everything but the problem was still there. Also, I tried other Ethernet cables and no change. The LAN card drivers are up to date but I don't think the card is the issue since I swapped the new cards (to see if the card was the problem) and it does show a 1.0 Gbps connection. Also, tried uninstall/reinstall, disable/enable the card many times.I didn't change any setting in the router after installing the cards.Here is the ipconfig output:

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am trying to setup a VPN using an RV042 (fw ver: 1.3.12.6) to access a VISTA computer over the internet using a laptop using QVPN's latest version. I finally got it to connect but then hang's with error " Gateway is not responding, do you want to wait?". If I say yes it go through the login again and hangs. If I say no, it hangsup. I've tried a couple different ideas using tunnelling and static IPs in the router but nothing. All I want is to be able to access one computer through the RV042 over the internet from any other computer using the QVPN.

I have been receiving error messages that the router, model F9K1105 v3, was not connected periodically. The "fix it" option usually took care of it. Then I noticed that the indicator for the modem was showing the color grey instead of blue. I also became unable to access the settings with the default IP. I wasn't able to fix this so I tried to reinstall the software and reset the modem to just start all over. I was unable to get the computer to detect the router during setup. Unplugged, tried new cable etc. No luck. It was still saying it was unable to connect, and still unable to get to setup page. I happened to notice I WAS online and can connect to the router wirelessly with an Iphone.
What can I do to get the software to see that I am connected and how do I get to the setup page? Basically get everything to work like it did when I first installed it. Eventually I want to connect my old router to this one and use it as an access point.
I have 2 VLANs set up and I know they are set as default to not allow one to communicate to the other. Is there a way to set a rule to allow that? I'd like VLAN1 to be able to access VLAN2, but not the other way around.

View 2 Replies View Relatedwhen my Linux VM is running!How's this for a mystery - last night I noticed that I could no longer access my gmail. Thought it might be down. This morning, I still couldn't access it. Thought I would try comcast, no joy either. Changed computers, no difference. Changed routers, no difference. Bought a new router and started plugging in network cables one at a time. My main machine first, everything works - http and https sites, a second computer, all good. The switch. Fine. Powerline. Still good. Then I plug in a Windows server running a Linux VM. Https sites on all the other machines stop working. Pause the Linux VM, restart router - https sites return to life. Went to Linux machine, re-enabled ipv6 (the only recent change on the Linux machine was to disable ipv6 since upon a reboot, Linux didn't have an ipv4 address). Restart Linux everything seems fine. A few hours go by, try to connect my wife's new laptop and at that moment wireless seems to stop. Restart router, wireless is back. But lo and behold, https is gone again. Unplug the machine that has the Linux VM, restart router, all is good.Ever see anything this weird?
