Cabling / Cards :: Compaq Presario Cq56 Connects To Network But No Internet Access
Nov 4, 2011
I have a compaq preario running on windows 7 ultimate. It has been working well with the internet connection but recently it stopped connecting to the internet. It recognizes other computers in the network but the internet connection is not available.
I bought I router today, Linksys E2500 and set it up, for some reason its connected with full strength but the internet does not work on my computer, or any other device connected to the network I established on the router.the interenet still is not working. The modem is fine, as when I disable the wireless connection, the internet works. Yes, I have Sp3 installed.
i can search for networks. As you can tell i am currently on the internet on my laptop. I can search for the current network i am on through my adapter. I then connect to it. It says im connected to a unidentified network. It will not let me search the internet or anything else.
I have a Compac Presario w/Vista and I'm getting a limited connectivity message and can't access the internet. My cable modem is connected straight to the computer by ethernet wire. It happened before and I unistalled the Vista update and it was fine. I can't see what the problem is this time cause my Event log won't come up saying that the Snapin for the MMC isn't properly loading. I am able to see alerts but there wasn't any on that date. My Norton's won't come up either stating that the side by side configuration isn't right.
so I went into device manager and deleted the 2 network adapters, rebooted and let Windows reinstall. Windows created a new Local Area Connection (LAC4, 2 and 3 are gone). It reads limited or no connectivity and is using Linksys LNE 100TX Fast Ethernet Adapter, just like the previous LAC2. The previous LAC3, which used the WAN Network Driver never got reinstalled. I don't get it.Since a Linksys adapter on a wired connection seemed bizarre I tried to find what the correct network driver should beI Googled "Compaq Presario 5400US" "ethernet driver" OR "network driver" and was taken to an HP drivers page, which This page has nothing listed for chipset or network adapters
after purchasing a 11yr.old compaq presario 1200 from the swap shop,I was told by the seller,I would need usb ethernet adapter.I bought the adapter, but still can'get the internet.
My sister's Compaq Presario CQ62 Laptop, and from what she told me, she can't access the internet. When she can access, it's only with Internet Explorer.
She couldn't register Microsoft Office, use Avast, use Firefox, use Chrome, install updates, and access the iTunes store to name a few examples.
She was able to run MalwareBytes, but no infections were found.
I don't think it's the router, because my sister is also my roommate and I can access the internet just fine, as well as gaming consoles and iPods. But I don't know, maybe it is the router and I'm just not realizing it.
I'm trying to figure out the problem, but it's just not coming to me. I guess she's had this problem since October 2010. I thought it might be an IP address issue, so I reserved an IP address to her, but it appears that nothing changed.
My compaq presario F750us stopped connecting to the internet both wired and wireless. It no longer recognizes its Artheros Ar 5700 wireless adapter. The ethernet connection is restricted to local access only. The notebook runs Windows Vista Home Premium. I have followed all diagnostic and repair steps as per Vista's instructions. Two other computers remain connected. The router is Linksys Wrt 54 G2 V1.
My son has Compaq Presario C700 (C769US) with an Atheros AR5007 802.11b/g wifi adapter. I can connect his lapatop to our Motorola SBG 6580, but then cannot connect to the internet. I get the error that the DNS lookup failed. I have looked everywhere on the HP site, and have talked to the Motorola people. I can't download an updated driver without the internet (I don't think)
Yesterday I bought a new wireless adapter (Belkin Surf Micro, it was the only one for sale nearby). I installed it from the disk, and it worked for around a minute, then... nothing. This kept happening every time with several reboots and reinstalls inbetween.I thought maybe the adapter was faulty, so I installed it on my Mums laptop. It worked great.I have tried flushing the dns, and some other command prompt based things suggested on other sites, but to no avail. But here's the thing that strikes me as funny: Even when it connects to the internet for that minute or so I cannot ping the router, even though it says on the router page (viewed from another computer) that I am definately connected to it. I also cannot ping google or anything but myself.
I have a compaq presario V6500 laptop running windows vista SP2. For the past few days i am not able to connect to the internet using ethernet port. But my wireless still works. On checking device manager, my network adapter, a nVidia nForce networking controller#2, gives the following error.
I have a Compaq presario CQ61 laptop running windows 7 and since my boyfriend installed a new netgear wireless router I haven't been able connect to the home wireless network. I have no problem connecting to public or private wireless networks at my house or elsewhere. Also, my boyfriend and his roommate have no problem connecting to the network on their laptops. It is a WPA encrypted network. I have also tried shutting off the firewall on my computer without any change. My laptop doesn't even recognize the network - i tried to manually add the network to my computer but it still won't come up on my list of active networks.
Laptop getting only limited wireless access via Centurytel. I have other wireless devices which are able to connect to my home network with no issues. I have disconnected and connected anew as well as unplugged both the router and the laptop and the connection does not execute to allow full access.
My Compaq Presario V2000 (HP) using Win-xp3 will only connect to the internet using safe mode. When trying to connect in normal mode a message appears saying I cannot display webpage and what I can try is diagnose connection problems. When I click on diagnose problems it tells me that Windows cannot troubleshoot network connection because an error has occured.
It is a Dell Inspiron using Windows 7 and the internet has suddenly stopped working on it. It is able to connect to the router fine and says it has a connection but is unable to access anything. And this is accessing the router either wirelessly or wired through an ethernet cable. I know that it is not the router because her roommates are able to access the internet fine and her computer is also unable to access the internet from other networks. Is it possible that the network card in her laptop has died and needs to be replaced? or could it be a corrupted driver? Would using a usb network adapter be a temporary fix? I have searched many forums trying to find an answer but have been unable to.Also a couple times when attempting to see if the wired connection worked I had plugged in the ethernet cable and was able to access google for 5 seconds and then it stopped working, and then unplugging and reconnecting would yield the same results
WOke up this morning and my desktop will connect to the router via LAN and WLAN, but states that there is no external internet connectivty.I know this isn't the case as my MAC will connect via WLAN and LAN (same ethernet cable) and I can access external sites. My router is therefore working correctly and my internet connection is fine.I presume this must be some kind of driver issue, but it states that my drivers are installed, up to date and working correctly
I'm planning to create a network of wifi access points all in different locations. Those locations all have different wifi routers and networks. I'm looking for a easy solution that let easily setup those networks to ask authentication credentials (in a browser page, once a user is inside the wifi and wants access the internet) by an external server possibly without overloading too much that server.
I'm pretty computer illiterate. So how do I know if my Compaq Presario 2200 has wifi? I've read several threads but. I don't have the computer in front of me but I believe there is no wifi button. Do I buy a PC card or a wireless networking adapter - USB? Where does the PC card go? Will I also need a driver?
I have just gotten a brand new Windows 7 computer, which worked perfectly the first day. I turn it on a few days later and it won't detect any networks, not even my home network.
I purchased a Netgear wireless box for my boyfriend a couple months back and we have just recently set it up. My iPad and laptop connect with no problem at all but his mother's computer, the Compaq, won't connect to the internet unless it's directly connected to the router/modem.
I've gone to the support section of the Netgear website and tried what they told me but I keep running into needing to log on to my router. The default password isn't working and neither is the one we tried to set up (really my bf tried to set one and somehow managed to screw up the whole thing; I just went to bed cause I was happy we even had wireless).
Old Compaq Presario 3000+ getting sluggish, freezing has Compac mouse and keyboard. So brother gave me not as old eMachine. Thought I'd use KVM and play music, etc from old Compaq. KVM hooked up. Compaq keyboard works very poorly with eMachine. Compaq mouse doesn't work at all with eMachine -freezes center of screen. Switch to wireless mouse, works fine with eMachine, but then have ot use Compaq mouse if I switch to Compaq PCU. Is there a universal keyboard and mouse that would fix this?
I have a compaq Presario CQ 60 windows vista 32 bit. I cannot connect to my centurytel westell 7500. I was able to connect to the westell versalink 327W but when I upgraded to the 7500 I havnt been able to connect wirelessly. I can with the Ethernet but not wirelessly. My wifi network adapter is a atheros AR5007 802.11b/g.
I am using a Compaq Presario Laptop and i recently bought a new new mobile which has Wifi. Now I want to connect it to my pc via wifi. I know nothing about wireless networking or wifi.
So on my compaq presario cq60-204nr i tried connecting to my router with the correct security code and everything and it just kept saying failed to connect due to time out is there anything? and now it says the wireless security settings on my computer don't match those on my router?
I have an issue with my girlfriend's Compaq Presario A900. We have recently had a new Wireless router and the laptop was working fine going online then one day it wouldn't connect. The laptop is connecting to the router although it is showing as an unidentified network and access as local only. All other PC's and laptops in the house are connecting fine and using the internet.I have see this question asked on other forums but as i mentioned i'm not very tech savvy and i can't seem to get anything to work.

My wireless on my computer won't hold a connection for any longer than 30 minutes. I've checked the drivers, the wireless router, and scanned for viruses (several times) but nothing seems to work. In the last three months, I think I only had one occasion where the connection remained stable for longer than an hour. It doesn't matter what router I use or where I am. It has to be my computer.
I have a Compaq Presario CQ57 and I have had it for about 6 months.
